Chapter 94: Sis, Save Me
"Xiao Feng, Miaoke, I know you mean well. You want us to retire in peace, but we’ve worked hard for most of our lives. We’re destined for a life of labor. Asking us to just relax and retire now... that would be worse than being in prison."
"We’d be better off going back to the countryside. We’ll be in better spirits that way. When you two have children, we’ll come back to Beihai to help look after them."
Chu Yuntian said leisurely. They were having a hard time getting used to living in such a huge villa.
They had been in Beihai City for a while now. They had seen all there was to see and experienced all there was to experience. There wasn’t anywhere else for them to go.
Seeing that he couldn’t persuade his parents no matter what, Chu Feng felt helpless.
’After all, the older generation had endured hardship for most of their lives. If you really asked them to just enjoy a life of leisure and experience the finer things, they truly couldn’t get used to it.’
"Alright then," Chu Feng said. "When do you want to leave? Miaoke and I will see you off."
"How about tomorrow," Chu Yuntian replied.
"Okay, I’ll have my assistant drive you back," Su Miaoke said with a nod, immediately starting to make a call.
Chu Yuntian and Chu Feng’s mother hurriedly stopped her.
"There’s no need to trouble anyone. We can just take the train ourselves," Chu Feng’s mother said.
"Absolutely not. Taking the train isn’t safe," Chu Feng refused outright.
’He was still afraid the Tang Family might make a move behind his back. If that happened, he’d regret it for the rest of his life.’
In the end, the two elders couldn’t win against Chu Feng and Su Miaoke, so they could only agree to Su Miaoke’s arrangement.
"You two have your marriage certificate, but there hasn’t been any ’news’ yet. Also, when are you planning to have your wedding?" Chu Yuntian asked suddenly.
"Let’s hold off this year," Chu Feng said. "We can see how things are at the end of the year. After all, Miaoke’s company is a bit busy right now, and she’s in the middle of expanding."
"I think that’s fine," Su Miaoke said. "We have our certificate anyway, so it’s the same whether we have a ceremony or not."
"Sigh... It’s up to you," Chu Yuntian said with a sigh. "But if you do decide on a date, remember to call and let us know."
"Dad, Mom, don’t worry. Of course we’ll have you both there for the wedding. If you two don’t come, how could we possibly hold it?" Su Miaoke said with a smile.
"Alright, Miaoke, if this little brat Chu Feng dares to bully or neglect you, call me immediately. I’ll march right over to Beihai and teach him a lesson for you!" Chu Yuntian said.
"Okay!" Su Miaoke agreed instantly, her face wreathed in smiles.
At the same time, she turned to look at Chu Feng and said, "Did you hear that? You’re not allowed to bully me."
Chu Feng shook his head with a helpless look. "Bully you? As if I’d dare."
Afterward, the family began to eat their meal in joyful harmony.
As for Chu Hao, he and Su Jun had gone out to have fun. After all, they were young men, full of curiosity about new things and brimming with energy.
The family, having eaten and drunk their fill, sat together watching TV. This atmosphere of complete harmony gave Chu Feng a long-lost sense of contentment.
’The older generation always talks about how fallen leaves return to their roots and how it’s hard to leave one’s homeland.’
’Chu Feng couldn’t say anything more about it. Perhaps in a few decades, he would be the same way.’
Early the next morning, Su Miaoke’s assistant drove up to the gate of the villa.
Chu Feng saw his parents into the car and instructed the assistant to be especially careful on the road, telling him to call immediately if anything happened.
As the two of them watched, the car slowly drove away from the Bright Moon Mountain Villa.
Just then, Su Miaoke’s phone rang.
"Su Jun? What happened?" Su Miaoke glanced at the caller ID—it was a call from her younger brother.
"Sis, help me!" On the other end of the line was Su Jun’s voice, which sounded like he was about to cry.
"What’s going on? Where are you?" Hearing her brother’s urgent tone, Su Miaoke began to grow anxious as well.
"Ice Sea Club, second floor! Sis, hurry!" Su Jun shouted frantically.
"What happened? Calm down first and explain clearly," Su Miaoke said, her own worry growing.
’To think her brother had only been out of the hospital for a few days and was already in trouble again.’
"What’s wrong with Su Jun?" Chu Feng asked with a frown, having overheard Su Miaoke’s side of the conversation.
"It’s like this, I owe someone money, and now they want me to pay up, or they’ll break my legs! Sis, you have to come save me!" Su Jun said, his voice choked with sobs.
Chu Feng, who was standing beside her, also heard Su Jun’s words clearly.
"Do Mom and Dad know?" Su Miaoke asked.
"They don’t know. You’re the first person I called," Su Jun said.
"Okay, tell them I’m bringing the money over right now. Tell them to back off!" Su Miaoke said, then hung up the phone.
Su Miaoke hurriedly pulled a car out of the garage, and Chu Feng got in with her.
"How could Su Jun owe money? That seems impossible. How much money does he get every month?" Chu Feng asked in surprise.
"I don’t know either. Dad gives him at least one hundred thousand a month. Even if he ran out, it’s impossible that he’d need to borrow money from someone else," Su Miaoke said, completely perplexed.
One hundred thousand!
Chu Feng was stunned when he heard that number.
’You have to remember, Su Jun was still a university student who hadn’t even graduated.’
’An allowance of one hundred thousand a month!’
’An average worker couldn’t even earn that much after working hard for an entire year.’
’As expected, rich families were just on a different level.’
’A family like Su Miaoke’s was simply too extravagant.’
’He recalled his own university days, when he had to work part-time to support his studies. He only had a little over a thousand a month and couldn’t even bear to spend it.’
’The comparison was just brutal.’
Su Miaoke drove quickly, soon arriving at the Ice Sea Club.
This club was quite famous in Beihai City and was considered a luxury establishment.
’Chu Feng was speechless. That Su Jun really never learned his lesson.’
’It hadn’t been long since the last incident, and now he was in trouble again. The guy was a real handful.’
"I wonder if Hao Zi is in any danger," Chu Feng murmured, feeling utterly helpless.
’Chu Hao had been hanging out with Su Jun recently. He didn’t know if they were together right now; he hadn’t had a chance to ask earlier.’
’There was one thing, however, that kept Chu Feng from being overly worried: it was unlikely that the Tang Family was behind this.’
’If the Tang Family had made a move, they wouldn’t have given Su Jun the chance to make a phone call. They would have just killed him outright.’
When they reached the second floor of the club, Su Miaoke called Su Jun’s phone, but no one answered.
After a moment, a man in a suit and sunglasses emerged from around a corner.
"Are you Su Jun’s family?" the man asked.
"We are. Where is Su Jun?" Su Miaoke asked hurriedly.
"You’ll know if you come with me. And don’t even think about trying any tricks!" the man said in an icy tone.
