Chapter 38: Qi Cultivation Realm
When Su Miaoke heard her father speaking so deferentially, she flew into a rage.
"Dad, I just don’t get it. Is one Hu Long really that scary? Enough to make you act so servile? Can’t you see he’s the type to bully the weak and fear the strong?" Su Miaoke said, extremely annoyed.
"If he’d at least return our initial investment, I’d let him have the land. But he wants to just take it without paying a single cent—I can’t swallow that," Su Miaoke said.
"This is just blatant robbery," Chu Feng chimed in.
"Oh, my dear daughter, do you have any idea who Hu Long is? This was something we could have settled with money, but now we’ve offended him beyond repair. Go home, grab your mom, and leave Beihai immediately," Su Linsheng said, sighing repeatedly.
The three of them got into the car and headed straight home.
No one spoke on the way, and the atmosphere was tense.
Su Linsheng returned to Beihai Bay No. 1 on his own, while Chu Feng and Su Miaoke went back to the Bright Moon Mountain Villa.
"Chu Feng," Su Miaoke suddenly called out.
This surprised Chu Feng a little. He asked, "What’s wrong?"
"Nothing," Su Miaoke said, shaking her head, her eyes filled with a complex look.
Chu Feng couldn’t make heads or tails of it.
"When you stood up to Hu Long today, did you even think about the consequences? He has a very powerful background," Su Miaoke asked.
"Nope. When someone dares to bully my wife and my father-in-law, I have to step up, no matter the consequences. As a man, how could I back down? Besides, even you weren’t scared, so why would I be?" Chu Feng said frankly.
"Oh, right. Why were you so sure he won’t live past three days? Is there something you’re not telling me?" Su Miaoke asked, staring at Chu Feng. She was completely baffled by this; Chu Feng had been far too confident when he’d said it.
She was starting to feel that Chu Feng was too mysterious, that he had a kind of hidden depth she found hard to put into words.
"Because I believe in karma. I believe in fate! A man like him, who’s done so many evil things and is still so arrogant, is bound to face heavenly retribution sooner or later," Chu Feng said.
In reality, the source of his confidence was that he had just detonated Hu Long’s Sin Value. With a Sin Value of -26,000, his death was guaranteed.
He had already gained over a thousand Merit Points from punishing the South Asian Evil Master. Now, by detonating Hu Long’s sin, he had instantly received another 2,600 Merit Points—a reward equal to a tenth of the man’s Sin Value.
Chu Feng now possessed a grand total of 3,600 Merit Points, enough to rapidly advance his cultivation realm.
If he used all these Merit Points for Cultivation, Chu Feng could reach the Qi Cultivation Realm mentioned in the Qi Cultivation Technique.
"That’s a pretty flimsy explanation. If what you’re saying is true, then why do so many truly evil people in the world get to live happily, while good people often suffer tragic fates?" Su Miaoke retorted with a frown.
"That’s just because their karma hasn’t caught up to them yet," Chu Feng said.
Su Miaoke was about to ask another question, but Chu Feng cut her off.
"Alright, I’ll tell you the truth. That guy was arrogant enough to act like that right in front of Sixth Master. Do you really think Sixth Master would let him get away with it? So when I say he’ll be dead in three days, does that seem so unbelievable?" Chu Feng said.
When Su Miaoke thought about it, she realized he was probably right.
"Alright, time for bed," Chu Feng said.
"Are you part bear? All you ever think about is sleeping," Su Miaoke said.
"It’s a crime to have a wife and not go to bed with her," Chu Feng said, then scooped Su Miaoke up into his arms.
"What are you doing? Put me down!" Su Miaoke’s face flushed crimson from the suddenness of it all, and she started beating on Chu Feng’s shoulders.
「In the blink of an eye, it was deep into the night.」
Chu Feng got out of bed, sat down on the sofa, closed his eyes, and began his Cultivation.
"Why are you sitting over there instead of sleeping?" Su Miaoke asked softly.
"Meditating," Chu Feng replied.
"You’re acting just like one of those old Daoist priests. Do you actually know how to cultivate?" Su Miaoke asked.
Chu Feng said, "You should get back to sleep. I’ll come to bed later."
"Mm, okay. Don’t be too late." Su Miaoke’s voice trailed off. She was exhausted from the day’s events and quickly fell back asleep.
Seeing Su Miaoke was asleep, Chu Feng resumed his Cultivation.
Although he possessed the Wealth God’s Order, which protected him completely from ordinary sinners and various evil arts, it was still best to become powerful in his own right and not have to rely on it.
Throughout the night, Chu Feng remained immersed in his Cultivation.
By using Merit to substitute for the Spiritual Qi normally required by the Qi Cultivation Technique, he was able to cultivate and successfully break through into the Qi Cultivation Realm.
Early in the morning, Chu Feng could feel a dense vortex of qi in his Dantian, located in his lower abdomen.
With the slightest movement, he could feel his entire body surge with power and could even guide this qi to flow through his limbs and into every corner of his being.
Now, Chu Feng was beginning to understand what the God of Wealth had meant when he said he hadn’t been able to contact the Celestial Court for several hundred years.
This world had entered the Dharma Decline Era. With the dissipation of Spiritual Qi, gods had either died off or vanished, and the world was left without any Immortal Gods.
But thankfully, the God of Wealth had figured out this Cultivation Technique that relied on Merit as a substitute. Unfortunately, the God of Wealth couldn’t use it himself, so Chu Feng reaped all the benefits.
In the morning, Chu Feng waited for Su Miaoke to wake up before they went to the company together.
He went mainly because he was afraid Hu Long would try some other dirty trick, especially since they had now openly fallen out with him.
As they entered the company, Xiao Liu saw Chu Feng driving Su Miaoke’s car, and his eyes instantly went as wide as saucers.
When Chu Feng entered the security office, Xiao Liu scurried over and handed him a bottle of water.
"Brother Chu, have some water," Xiao Liu said with a grin.
"Well now, what’s all this? Offering me water?" Chu Feng looked at Xiao Liu, a little surprised.
"Oh, come on, Brother Chu! You’re so close with President Su, why didn’t you ever tell me? That’s not cool, man," Xiao Liu said with a look of mock complaint.
"What good would telling you do? I’m just a security guard like you. It’s not like I can get you a raise or a promotion, right? I can’t do that," Chu Feng said.
"That’s what I don’t get. Brother Chu, you’re so close to President Su... you must be her boyfriend, right? Logically, you should at least be a senior executive at the company. Why are you working as a security guard?" Xiao Liu asked, completely bewildered.
"A senior executive? Is that a job for someone like me with no education and no skills? Since I can’t do anything else, being a security guard is the only option. Besides, it’s a pretty chill job," Chu Feng said with a helpless sigh.
"You’re too humble, Brother Chu. But hey, Brother Chu, with our relationship... you’re not going to snitch to President Su about me playing games and sleeping on the job every day, are you?" Xiao Liu asked, a little scared.
Chu Feng laughed. "Don’t worry. I was actually hoping you could carry me in a few games."
"Brother Chu, you gotta share some tips with me. How did you manage to win over President Su?" Xiao Liu asked, his face full of curiosity.
