The image before Liam’s eyes seemed to shake with every movement Lydia made.

He wasn’t watching the battle from his own body.

Everything he could perceive came from the tiny eye Lydia had created and was holding with one of her tentacles.

And from that perspective, the battle was even more chaotic.

Duncan continued attacking. His fist moved at an impressive speed, striking the enormous werewolf again and again.

But none of his punches managed to connect.

The sub-boss moved with incredible agility.

Every time Duncan threw a punch, the monster tilted its body, spun on one leg, or simply moved out of the way.

At the same time, Ivy never stopped attacking.

"Catch him!"

Vines burst from the ground and shot toward the werewolf.

Several managed to wrap around its legs.

Others coiled around one of its arms.

But the sub-boss simply growled and swung its claws.

The vines snapped.

Ivy created more, and the werewolf destroyed them again.

Then Ruby Red appeared.

The young woman ran straight toward the monster.

She wasn’t carrying a weapon, and she didn’t seem to have any intention of dodging it.

She simply ran.

’What is she doing?’

Liam wondered.

Ruby opened her mouth.

At the same time, Lilly raised both hands.

Violet energy began gathering around her palms.

Several violet shots flew out.

The energy projectiles flew directly toward the werewolf.

"Now, Ruby!"

Lilly shouted.

The sub-boss raised its right arm.

The bones covering its body extended over the arm, forming a sort of shield.

The violet shots collided with the bones.

The creature managed to protect itself, but it had made a mistake.

By using its right arm to defend itself, it had left the other side of its face completely exposed.

Duncan smiled.

"Got you!"

His fist shot forward.

The blow landed squarely against the werewolf’s face.

The monster’s head snapped violently to the side.

Duncan barely had time to regain his balance when he saw a massive claw coming toward him.

"Duncan!"

The creature tried to strike back.

But Ruby got there first.

The young woman opened her mouth unnaturally wide.

And took the claw directly to the face.

’What...?!’

Liam was completely confused.

The werewolf’s claws disappeared inside Ruby’s mouth.

The girl clenched her teeth.

CRACK!

The monster tried to pull its arm back.

But Ruby wouldn’t let go.

She bit down with all her strength.

"GRRR...!"

The werewolf yanked its arm, but Ruby kept biting.

Finally, with a sudden movement, the creature managed to pull its arm out of her mouth.

But it was now missing several fingers.

Ruby swallowed.

Then she spat to the side.

"Ugh..."

She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand.

"Sorry for spitting, but that tasted disgusting."

Liam just stared.

’Did she just eat its fingers?’

Duncan burst out laughing.

"Hahahaha! That must’ve hurt!"

The werewolf growled.

Its red eyes locked onto Ruby.

And then it lunged at her.

The creature charged with all its strength.

Ruby remained still.

Until, suddenly...

She disappeared.

The werewolf’s enormous body passed through the spot where she had been a moment earlier.

And Ruby appeared behind it.

Liam’s eyes widened.

’What just happened?’

[Lydia: I don’t know what happened either.]

Ruby raised a hand.

"Thanks, Adam!"

The slightly older hunter who had arrived with them smiled.

"It’s good to see that you recognize my contribution."

Liam narrowed his eyes.

’Adam?’

He hadn’t seen that man do anything.

However, he clearly had something to do with Ruby’s movement.

And that wasn’t the only strange thing.

Ruby charged at the werewolf again.

Meanwhile, Lilly began rising into the air.

Violet energy covered her entire body.

The young woman flew over the battlefield while firing violet projectiles from her hands.

The attacks forced the sub-boss to defend itself.

Ivy took advantage of every opening, her vines wrapping around the monster.

Duncan punched.

Ruby bit.

Archie made sure that all the hunters lying on the ground were okay.

And Adam...

Adam simply moved one hand, and every time he did, Ruby disappeared from one place and appeared somewhere else.

"Here!"

Ruby appeared in front of the werewolf.

The monster tried to attack her.

Ruby opened her mouth.

"Nom!"

CRACK!

She disappeared.

She appeared on its back.

CRACK!

Another bite.

She disappeared again.

’What a strange power!’

[Lydia: Is it similar to mine?]

’I don’t think so...’

The battle was changing rapidly.

The sub-boss no longer seemed to be in control of the situation.

Ivy had managed to trap it with several vines.

Duncan had destroyed a large portion of the bones covering its body.

Lilly continued firing from the air.

Ruby had already devoured several of its claws.

And somehow, she had also managed to tear off its tail.

’I think that girl really can eat anything...’

But there was still something Liam didn’t understand.

’Wait.’

Liam looked around again.

’Where’s Maxwell?’

Lydia moved her eye and searched among the hunters.

But there was no sign of the young man.

’The young prodigy isn’t participating?’

[Lydia: I don’t see him anywhere, honey.]

Liam looked over the battlefield again.

’When did that kid disappear?’

He didn’t remember seeing him leave.

He didn’t remember seeing him enter the battle, either.

’This is strange.’

[Lydia: Do you think he went to look for the core?]

’I don’t know.’

Liam kept his gaze fixed on the sub-boss.

Then the last of Ivy’s vines tightened.

She had managed to completely restrain the werewolf.

The creature tried to break free, but couldn’t.

Duncan approached, and his fist slammed into one of the large bones covering its chest.

The bone shattered.

Ruby immediately appeared.

She opened her mouth and bit into another section of its armor.

CRACK!

She tore it off.

The werewolf let out a desperate roar.

Lilly descended from the air and fired another violet projectile.

The monster was engulfed in smoke.

A small cloud began expanding around them.

Liam watched carefully.

The smoke reached the sub-boss’s neck.

The creature looked exhausted.

Its movements had become much slower.

Duncan was breathing heavily.

Ivy was exhausted as well.

Ruby licked her lips.

Lilly slowly descended.

"We’ve got it!"

Archie shouted.

But then...

Something moved inside the smoke.

A human silhouette appeared.

Liam’s eyes widened.

’What...?’

The figure was hanging from the werewolf’s neck.

One hand held onto its body.

The other held a knife.

It was a young man with dark hair and a calm smile.

Maxwell Masters.

The young man had been there the entire time.

The smoke dissipated.

Maxwell raised the knife slightly.

"Got you."

The blade pierced the sub-boss’s neck.

And blood began pouring out.

The werewolf opened its mouth.

"GRAAA...!"

It collapsed instantly.

Its enormous body slammed into the ground.

’I didn’t expect him to be able to do that...’

The hunters stared at the sub-boss’s body.

Then Ruby raised both arms.

"We did it!"

"Yeah!"

Archie shouted.

Lilly smiled.

Ivy let out a long sigh.

Even Duncan began laughing.

"Good work, everyone!"

Maxwell simply wiped his knife clean.

"Now let’s destroy the core."

The hunters began heading toward the altar.

The core was still glowing.

Liam watched the scene through Lydia’s eyes.

It seemed like everything was about to be over...

The sub-boss had been defeated.

The path to the core was clear.

And all they had to do was destroy it.

Lydia moved her tiny eye slightly.

[Lydia: I guess they didn’t need our help after all.]

Liam smiled.

’Looks like they didn’t.’

Then a message appeared before his eyes.

Liam’s calm disappeared.
