My Slime Wife: Training and Pampering Her Makes Me Stronger

Chapter 128: Seeing Again Through My Wife’s POV

More than an hour had passed since the battle began.

And Liam’s group could no longer hide their exhaustion.

The bodies of the werewolves piled up around the battlefield. Some had disappeared shortly after falling, while others remained lying on the ground until they faded into particles of light.

But it didn’t matter how many they defeated.

More always appeared.

GROOOAR!

Another roar echoed in the distance.

Jordan was breathing heavily.

His enormous body had completely changed.

There was no trace left of the fat that had once characterized him.

Now he had a lean, well-defined body, with all his muscles clearly visible.

The hunter looked at his arms.

"I think..."

He took a deep breath.

"...this trial is impossible to clear like this."

Chuck, sitting on a rock while catching his breath, popped a bubble of gum.

POP!

"I could do this all day."

Emily appeared beside him and smacked him on the shoulder.

"Stop lying, partner."

"Ouch!"

Chuck grabbed his shoulder.

"Why do you always hit me?"

"Because you always say stupid things."

Carol stared at the horizon.

"How long has it been since Duncan left?"

Liam looked up at the sky.

"More than an hour."

Carol frowned.

"Then he should be close to finding the core."

Liam remained silent.

’What if they were defeated before they could destroy it?’

Maybe Duncan and the others had found the core a long time ago.

Maybe they had even been defeated by some monster guarding the way.

Or perhaps...

’Maybe we should have all gone together.’

Liam couldn’t help thinking about that possibility.

But he also couldn’t ignore what he had felt when he saw the civilians.

If James had placed them inside the simulation, there had to be a reason.

It didn’t make sense for them to simply be part of the scenery.

A slime woman approached him.

It was one of Lydia’s copies.

"Liam, honey."

Liam forced a smile and answered her.

"What’s wrong?"

"What are you thinking about?"

Liam sighed.

"I’m wondering how Duncan’s group is doing."

His slime wife smiled.

"They’re still looking for the core."

Liam’s eyes widened.

"How do you know?"

"I think they ran into some kind of sub-boss."

Liam blinked.

"A sub-boss?"

"Yeah."

His slime wife raised one of her arms.

"That’s why they’re taking so long."

Liam looked at her curiously.

"How do you know all that?"

Lydia’s copy smiled proudly.

"I made a decision without asking you."

"What decision?"

"I left a small copy of myself stuck to the body of one of the hunters who went with Duncan."

Liam froze completely.

"Just in case."

His wife slightly raised her arms.

"I wanted to know what was happening."

Liam smiled.

"You’re very smart, honey."

Lydia seemed thrilled to hear those words from her man.

"Really?"

"Yes."

Liam let out a small laugh.

"I don’t know how I didn’t think of that before."

The slime woman smiled.

"Thank you very much."

Liam remained thoughtful.

Then he remembered something.

His skill.

[Call].

It had evolved alongside his wife when she reached level sixty.

Thanks to that evolution, he had been able to see through Lydia’s perspective.

’If I can still do that...’

Liam looked at the small slime.

"Pix."

The interface appeared in front of him.

[Yes, Liam?]

"Can I use [Call] to see through the perspective of one of Lydia’s copies?"

Pix took a moment to respond.

[It is possible to use it with one of the copies created through Split Slime.]

Liam smiled.

"Perfect."

But then another message appeared.

[However...]

Liam waited.

[Your consciousness would temporarily leave your body.]

His expression changed.

[Therefore, using it in this situation would be dangerous.]

Liam looked around.

The werewolves were still appearing, and the others were exhausted.

The civilians remained behind Lydia’s copies.

Pix continued.

[You should be protected while using the skill.]

Liam smiled.

"Don’t worry about that."

He looked around and gestured toward his group.

"I have my own bodyguards."

Emily raised an eyebrow.

"What?"

Chuck grinned.

"Are you calling us bodyguards?"

Jordan dropped himself onto a rock.

"If they pay well, I don’t mind."

Carol let out a small laugh.

Liam looked at Lydia again.

"I need you to protect my body."

"Your body?"

"Yes."

Liam took a deep breath.

"I’m going to see how Duncan’s group is doing."

The various copies of Lydia turned toward him.

They all answered at the same time.

"We’ll protect you!"

Liam smiled.

"Perfect."

Then...

GROOOAAAR!

Another roar echoed in the distance, and the ground began to vibrate.

Liam looked up.

Shadows began appearing through the dust once again.

It was the next wave.

Jordan looked toward the horizon.

"No..."

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a bag of chips.

He opened it.

But it was empty.

Jordan stared at it for several seconds.

"No way."

He shook the bag.

Nothing.

Not a single chip.

"NO WAY!"

Jordan dropped the bag.

"I can’t do this anymore!"

And he collapsed onto the ground.

THUD!

Carol and Emily immediately moved in front of him.

"We’ve got you covered."

Emily nodded.

"Rest."

Jordan was breathing heavily.

"Thanks..."

Liam watched the scene.

Carol was exhausted.

Emily was too.

Chuck had started reducing the frequency of his attacks.

Carl could barely remain standing.

Jordan had practically exhausted his entire energy reserve.

And the werewolves kept coming.

’We can’t keep going like this.’

Liam looked at Lydia.

"Honey."

"Yes?"

"Now you can use your abilities to help the group."

The slime copies seemed excited.

"Really?"

Liam nodded.

"Yes."

Then he raised one finger.

"But don’t overdo it."

Lydia smiled.

"Don’t worry, honey."

Her body began to change.

"I can do this."

Liam watched as her various copies prepared themselves.

One of them positioned herself in front of the civilians.

Another stepped forward.

Another raised her arms.

And they all looked ready to finally join the battle.

Liam took a deep breath.

’Now.’

His skill activated.

[Call.]

Lydia’s voice disappeared.

The sound of the roars became distant.

The image before his eyes began to distort.

And his vision grew blurry.
