Chapter 127: Trouble Emerges... Imprisoned Empress
Olivia did not wait for anyone to scream.
The second man had only started to turn when a blade of darkness punched out of the dirt at his heel, climbed his back, and drove through the base of his skull.
His mouth opened. Nothing came out.
Slowly, he dropped where he stood.
Elena’s fingers locked around my arm so hard her nails bit through the cloth and she called out softly, her eyes filled with shock and terror...
"Lucien..."
I did not look at her. Instead I glanced up, toward the roof.
The figures in black moved the instant the second body hit stone.
Three vanished from the ridge.
Two dropped toward us like thrown knives.
Olivia rose out of the shadow of the first corpse as if the dark itself had decided to stand. Her eyes were calm. Almost bored.
A third director threw a barrier up, gold and thick.
Olivia did not break it, feeling that it might be too time consuming.
Instead she controlled her shadows and a ribbon of dark slid between his boots, split, and closed around his throat.
The gold cracked with a wet pop and his head snapped to an angle no neck was meant to hold.
Behind us the head soldier’s raised hand trembled. Thirty guns stayed locked on the building. Nobody fired. Nobody knew who to fire at.
The man who had spoken first was already cooling in the dirt, that same disdain still stuck to his mouth. The rest of the board finally understood this was not a negotiation.
"Kill the unawakened first!" someone roared from the doorway.
They could sense that the young man who had given the order didn’t seem to possess the slightest bit of mana.
They figured he had to be from some huge family to be able to command such a strong fighter. As long as they killed me, it would outweigh the losses they’d incurred today.
Four auras flared. Wind tore across the open ground and a spear of compressed air streaked through the air, heading toward me.
Despite knowing that I wasn’t in the slightest bit of danger, Olivia had already instinctively rushed in mid reaction, wanting to protect me.
She stretched her hand and shadows twisted outward from her body before condensing onto the spear and pulling it into the liquid pool of shadow beneath.
"Wh... how?" Elena’s eyes also showed a look of confusion and puzzlement as she watched the entire bloodshed.
Even now, she couldn’t sense the slightest bit of mana from me... so how was I controlling such a strong awakened?
She glanced at me, and noticing the expression on my face, she didn’t utter a second word.
Instead she waited patiently as the ongoing bloodbath proceeded.
I still did not answer her. There was no point. The truth was already walking through their men and disappearing again.
Olivia surfaced behind the fourth director. He was trying his best to stagger away when her hand came out of his own shadow and covered his face.
The words died against her palm as she gently twisted.
Although I had never killed someone before, I don’t know why I didn’t feel the slightest bit of disgust as I stared at the sight ahead.
Perhaps it was due to my bloodline or something else.
Olivia was like a walking calamity, reaping the lives of everyone.
In the end, a few were able to rush back into the building.
However Elena wasn’t too bothered.
None of them could hide from her.
As long as they still possessed shadows, she could track them to the endless depths of the world.
She finished up the remaining ninjas scattered around, then walked in.
She emerged soon after, and walked over to me before bowing respectfully.
"Everyone has been wiped out, master."
Hearing Olivia’s words I nodded, then turned to Elena.
"Are you satisfied, now?"
"I..." Elena tried to speak, but she discovered that there were no words in her mouth anymore.
She wanted to thank me, but at the same time she was dumbfounded.
Done?
The issue she had been dealing with for so long had been dealt with just like that?
Everything seemed so surreal that she found it hard to believe.
It all seemed too... easy for me.
Yes, it truly was easy. And that was disappointing because I was expecting to have a fight or two, but Olivia just wiped them all out.
The fact that they couldn’t struggle in the slightest against her showed that they just weren’t worth my time.
I let out a faint sigh and stared at Elena with a smile, then raised my palm to gently caress her face.
"Now, you can feel free to continue excavating the mana mountain, if you encounter any problems, inform me without hesitation, okay?"
"Oh... okay... I w..."
"Master!" Olivia suddenly looked up, and called out in surprise, interrupting Elena’s words.
Because her head was bowed, she was able to notice it.
The bodies of the men she had killed were gradually being dried up.
The shocking sight left her terrified and she had a bad premonition in her heart.
"What happened?" I turned to Olivia and asked softly, knowing that she wouldn’t shout my name like that for no reason.
Olivia pointed a trembling hand in the direction of the bodies littered around.
At a glance I could immediately spot the difference in sizes.
The bodies looked full of life just moments ago, but now they had changed drastically and seemed to have been drained of their essence.
The bodies were starting to shrivel up and the expressions on the faces of all of them seemed drained.
"Interesting..." I murmured as I noticed trickles of mana being extracted from the bodies before being pulled directly toward the mountain.
’Is this how the mana mountain is formed?’ I murmured to myself curiously then shook my head.
"No... it’s as if... there’s someone in the mountain?" I muttered and my gaze instantly sharpened.
"Everyone should wait here."
I ordered and before any of the ladies around could even speak, I took a step forward and vanished from their presence.
Because my speed was too fast it seemed like teleportation, leaving both Elena and the soldiers dumbfounded.
Elena had known me as an unawakened all her life, so seeing me display the fact that I was awakened left her with countless emotions.
Joy, excitement, confusion, and hesitation? They all seemed to crash inside her mind at once.
...
I crossed the distance from the house all the way to the mountain.
Glancing downward I noticed the trickles of mana still moving under the ground like live, wriggling worms.
I glanced around and noticed that I was before the mountain.
Ahead, there was a cave-like entrance, and a few crystalline stones that shone with a luminescent blue hue littered the exterior.
Seeing the dense condensation of mana in these stones I understood that these were probably mana stones.
I only stared at them for a moment before entering the cave.
Following the wriggling worms that were extracting mana, I walked deeper and deeper into the mountain.
Before long, I had arrived at the center of the mountain.
The mountain was illuminated by the luminescent blue light coming from the mana stones that filled the surroundings, but that wasn’t what left me taken aback.
Instead, it was the fact that, ahead of me, was an elevated platform that seemed like a crystalline coffin.
Atop the crystalline coffin lay a naked woman.
Motes of light flickered incessantly around her, illuminating her exceedingly beautiful features.
I also noticed that the mana being absorbed from the humans earlier on was injecting itself into this woman.
’A naked woman? Is she dead?’ I murmured as I walked slowly into the cave with my gaze fixed on her.
I could see her perfect proportions. Her breasts were fair and tender. And her hips were curvy.
At a glance I could tell that she had an hourglass figure at the very least, or something like a pear body, only with a bit more breast than they normally would.
Due to how she lay I couldn’t clearly ascertain how her pussy looked, but I was curious.
’What am I even thinking of...’ I massaged my forehead and chuckled to myself.
I had just seen a naked woman inside a cave and the first thing I could think of was admiring her body? Just how far gone was I?
I exhaled through my nose and kept walking.
Just then, there was a rumble in the cave.
Just before I could get to her, a barrier was erected and gravel began fusing together.
A towering monster was gradually taking shape as the rocks clashed against each other.
Before long, a rock-like monster had formed completely.
"Roarrrr..." The monster let out a terrifying roar as it screamed in my direction.
"Human that wants to rescue the imprisoned empress, die!"
I could barely make out the monster’s roars and screams, but it sounded something like this.
As soon as it was done speaking, the monster charged at me.
"Imprisoned empress?" I whispered to myself, recognizing her identity.
How interesting...
