Chapter 169 83: A Deep Bond Between Master and Disciple
Da Zhong snapped to its senses and rushed toward the coffin under the thatched hut. It didn't bother changing form, its body emitting a wall of light that took the shape of a great bell. With a loud CLANG, it slammed down, covering the hut completely!
Xu Ying reached behind him, but his hand closed on empty air. The Copper Mirror that had been floating behind them was gone!
Xu Ying immediately looked toward the hut, now covered by the Great Bell Light Wall. A chill ran through his heart. At some unknown point, the Copper Mirror had appeared, floating above the Stone Coffin, and was now ramming violently into it!
"DANG!"
The Copper Mirror let out a crisp sound, floated up again, and slammed into the Stone Coffin once more.
Xu Ying leaped into the air, using the Guo Family's Cloud Ladder Celestial Soaring technique even over such a short distance, and hurtled toward the Great Bell Light Wall.
Da Zhong hurriedly retracted a sliver of the barrier; otherwise, Xu Ying would have been smashed to smithereens against the Bell Wall. Xu Ying passed into the light wall and grabbed for the Copper Mirror. He heard another DANG as the mirror struck the Stone Coffin for a second time, and in that same moment, his hand clamped down on the mirror.
He breathed a sigh of relief. 'Good, just in time…'
He looked down, and his heart suddenly went cold. He saw that a crack had appeared on the Copper Mirror from the impacts.
Inside the Copper Mirror was a room, furnished identically to the one where Xu Ying had been recuperating. Now, that room had also cracked, revealing a fissure large enough for a person to pass through.
Inside the mirror, the Female Demon stood in the fissure. She looked back, gave him a triumphant wave, and then leaped out of the crack!
The Stone Coffin suddenly began to hiss, releasing streams of gas. The Chains rattled violently as the Blood Curse Runes upon them rapidly faded, soon losing all their color!
Just as Xu Ying was about to move forward, a loud SNAP echoed as one of the Chains broke. At the same time, numerous cracks spiderwebbed across the Stone Coffin!
"BOOM!"
The Stone Coffin exploded into fragments!
A terrifying shockwave erupted in all directions, blasting the small thatched hut into the air and sending straw flying everywhere. The space that had been sealed within the Stone Coffin instantly expanded. A deafening, metallic clamor rang out as crude Ancient Fierce Weapons appeared scattered haphazardly, filling the surging space all around Xu Ying!
Beside Xu Ying was an enormous axe, its blade embedded in the ground. It had a wooden handle and a Stone Axe head, which was fastened to the handle with coarse hemp rope threaded through the stone itself.
The stone head alone was taller than Xu Ying!
This axe was steeped in the blood of countless Divine Beasts and humans. It radiated waves of Fierce Qi. The moment Xu Ying's Divine Sense brushed against it, he was overwhelmed by a vision of a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood rushing toward him!
On Xu Ying's other side was a Bone Spear with a wooden shaft, thrust diagonally into the ground. The shaft had been worn smooth by use, but it was clearly fashioned from an entire great tree!
Strange patterns had been drawn on the tree's trunk with blood, soaking deep into the wood. As Xu Ying's gaze fell upon it, a crimson light flickered for a moment before fading away.
The tip of the Bone Spear was made from some unknown Beast Bone, polished to a gleaming shine and radiating a fearsome might.
Seeing this thick, long Bone Spear, Xu Ying couldn't help but shudder. He felt as if he were drifting in a sea of blood, bobbing up and down amidst floating, ferocious-looking severed heads!
This Bone Spear had taken too many lives; the Fierce Qi it had accumulated was simply overwhelming!
Besides the Bone Spear and Stone Axe, there were other enormous weapons, relics from an age between barbarism and civilization. There was a Bronze Halberd, a Stone Arrow, a Stone Sword, a Bone Flute, a Wooden Rod, a Bronze Sword, a Stone Cauldron, and a Bronze Cauldron. Each one was massive, clearly not weapons for ordinary people!
Only then did it occur to Xu Ying that the primitive people in the murals he saw on the cave walls might not have been of normal human stature. They were likely a Giant Race among the early peoples!
They possessed massive Physiques, ate raw flesh, and drank blood. Even without Cultivation, their combat prowess was immense. With their brute strength alone, they could battle the colossal beasts of the Primitive Era!
Once they began to practice the Qi Refining Skill taught by the Female Demon, performing Qi Collection and Refining, their abilities would have been unrivaled in that age!
Every one of these weapons emanated a heaven-shaking, earth-shattering might. This was because their owners had engaged in so much Slaughter that the resulting Fierce Qi made even Da Zhong tremble slightly.
But in the center of all these Ancient Fierce Weapons lay a giant coffin, even more malevolent than the weapons themselves!
The Fierce Weapons were planted around the giant coffin for the sole purpose of suppressing the Fierce Qi within, preventing that supremely vicious woman from escaping!
In the center of the giant coffin was the hilt of a weapon shimmering with a bronze luster and adorned with dazzling gilded patterns. It was plunged into the coffin, radiating a vast, profound, and sacred aura that repelled all evil—an aura that proclaimed the eternal nature of the Celestial Dao!
'A Celestial Dao Divine Artifact!'
Xu Ying's gaze was irresistibly drawn to the Celestial Dao Divine Artifact.
According to the murals, this Celestial Dao Divine Artifact had hidden behind the Celestial Tribulation. It waited until the woman had passed the tribulation and was in a weakened state, her Heart Spirit relaxed, then assassinated her with a single strike, pinning her through her heart's core!
It was only because of this strike from the Celestial Dao Divine Artifact that those ferocious primitive people had the opportunity to suppress her with their Fierce Weapons!
"Back then, these primitive people must have captured her soul and sealed it within the Copper Mirror!" Xu Ying said quickly. "Lord Zhong, she's being suppressed by the Celestial Dao Divine Artifact! All these years, the artifact has been constantly draining her power. Even with her soul returned, she won't be able to escape!"
Da Zhong, who had been trembling nervously behind Xu Ying, was suddenly emboldened by his words. It flew out from behind him and praised, "Lord Ying is right!"
"CRACKLE!"
The giant wooden coffin suddenly shattered, sending splinters flying everywhere.
Da Zhong shuddered, quickly flying behind Xu Ying to hide again. It cried out, "Ying, this place is bad news! We should get out of here!"
Xu Ying was startled as well and turned to flee. Suddenly, the Fierce Weapons all around them began to hum. A monstrous Fierce Qi billowed up, shaking the entire Ascension Land.
The numerous Fierce Weapons acted in concert, unleashing a suppressive force. The Blood Evil within them surged forth, and in an instant, the Ascension Land was transformed into a roiling sea of blood!
