Chapter 122 57: I'll Take You Flying
In this way, one could walk on air, step by step.
If one's Divine Sense was powerful enough, they could visualize a clear path in the air and run right on it as the road continuously extended forward.
However, this Leaping Technique consumed a great deal of Divine Sense. Even a master of Divine Sense like Yuan Weiyang, who had opened her Yellow Court Secret Treasury, was reluctant to travel this way and preferred to walk.
The flying techniques of other Noble Families also relied on visualization to travel through the sky. This included the Zhou Family's technique of transforming one's Flesh Body into a bird.
Clearly, none of these methods were a match for the Sword Control Technique.
A thought occurred to Xu Ying. "Lord Zhong," he asked, "do you know the Sword Control Technique?"
Da Zhong replied, "By my time, Qi Refiners were already in decline, and much knowledge had been lost. My master didn't know the Sword Control Technique either, but he did find a Fragmented Technique for it and once recited it to me."
It recited it, and Xu Ying listened intently. It was a short passage from a technique for manipulating a sword with Divine Sense, very brief, only a few dozen words long.
Xu Ying recited the Fragmented Technique aloud. Yuan Weiyang took out a brush and paper and wrote it down. Although the technique was short, its meaning was profound and abstruse, and even she couldn't make sense of it at first.
Xu Ying, however, understood it instantly. After he explained its meaning, Yuan Weiyang was pleasantly surprised. "My Yuan Family excels in matters of Divine Sense," she said. "Perhaps we can fill in the missing parts of this Fragmented Technique!"
The green-robed old servant, Uncle Xiao, hesitated. He wanted to stop her but held himself back. 'If she can use the Yuan Family's Cultivation Technique to complete this Fragmented Technique, it would be a great accomplishment,' he thought. 'Leaking a tiny portion of our technique shouldn't be a major issue.'
Yuan Weiyang wrote for over a hundred words before her inspiration ran dry, and she was unable to continue.
Xu Ying leaned in close to her, and together they pored over the text. He then picked up the brush and continued writing. Both of them were so prodigiously talented that they could comprehend the Dao Image of Swordsmanship from a mere shred of Sword Intent. Before long, they had produced a swordsmanship heart method of over two hundred words.
Xu Ying and Yuan Weiyang exchanged a look, their eyes shining.
Xu Ying said, "I'll try it first. With Lord Zhong here, the fall won't kill me."
A slight smile touched Yuan Weiyang's lips. With a sudden leap, she jumped from Yuan Qi's head—so fast that even Uncle Xiao couldn't stop her in time!
Startled, Xu Ying immediately leaped after her.
Uncle Xiao and Yuan Qi cried out in alarm. They watched the two plummet from the sky, falling faster and faster. At that speed, even someone made of solid iron would be shattered to pieces upon impact!
Just then, a gleam of sword-light suddenly enveloped their bodies. It was dancing Sword Qi, erupting from their fingertips and swirling around them. It gradually coalesced into a shuttle of Sword Qi that grew brighter and brighter.
"WHOOSH!"
Just as they were about to crash, the two shuttles of Sword Qi crisscrossed. They skimmed across the surface of the river between two great mountains, kicking up massive waves and sending a spray into the air like shattered jade.
The two shuttles of Sword Qi accelerated, then abruptly pulled up from the water. They soared skyward, hugging the faces of the mountains on either side of the river before circling the peaks.
The commotion startled Zhou Qiyun. He pushed open the window of his chariot and looked out. He saw the two shuttles of Sword Qi converge at a summit, intertwine as they soared high into the sky, and quickly overtake his Dragon Chariot. Then they suddenly broke apart, shooting through the valley below.
A smile touched Zhou Qiyun's lips. "Such incredible talent," he murmured, "to actually figure out the Sword Control Technique. However..."
His expression turned cold, a feeling of resentment welling up inside him. He sneered, "What a shameless pair!"
