Ascension Day

Chapter 263: Chapter 125: Evil God Worm

Yuan Wuji’s power was truly unexpected. Xu Ying had always thought that Yuan Wuji, having been defeated by Zhou Qiyun, was just an ordinary Nuo Immortal. But the strength Yuan Wuji was displaying at this moment far exceeded his expectations!

Judging by the methods Yuan Wuji used to break the restrictions, the man’s Techniques were dazzlingly complex. His various Divine Powers were ever-changing and endless, truly the pinnacle of versatility!

Xu Ying had never seen anyone wield Nuo Art and Divine Powers to such a level. He thought to himself, ‘No wonder Zhou Qiyun said the disciples of the Yuan Family were all exceptionally intelligent. As the ancestor of the Yuan Family, Yuan Wuji is no exception.’

Suddenly, Divine Light surged forth. The towering figure of a Golden Man slowly rose, appearing amidst the mountain range. Even from such a distance, the buzzing drone of a million voices chanting could be heard, enough to throw one’s Divine Soul into disarray!

The Qi Refiners with lower Cultivation levels beside Xu Ying could no longer hold on. One by one, they grew dizzy and disoriented, tumbling into the Mercury River.

But unexpectedly, they didn’t sink into the river. Instead, they floated on the surface, not dying from the fall.

But the next moment, some kind of creature seemed to emerge from the Mercury River, extending incredibly fine, root-like tendrils that burrowed into their skin. Blood immediately spurted from the points of contact!

“There’s something in the river!”

The other Qi Refiners shrieked and rushed to help. The Skinny Bamboo Elder grabbed one person and pulled, only to see the man’s flesh tear away. Over a hundred of those silver, root-like tendrils had already burrowed through his skin and flesh to cling to his bones!

The Skinny Bamboo Elder gave another hard tug, nearly ripping half of the Qi Refiner’s body off!

Startled, the Skinny Bamboo Elder dared not use any more force. Just as he was at a loss, he saw that the silver tendrils had already spread throughout the Qi Refiner’s entire body!

The Qi Refiner’s eyes had turned the color of mercury, and mercury gushed from his eyes, ears, nose, and mouth, splattering onto the Skinny Bamboo Elder’s hand!

The Skinny Bamboo Elder felt a sharp pain in his palm and hastily pulled back, tearing off a large patch of his own skin in the process!

The mercury also contained silver tendrils, and the moment it touched his palm, they had burrowed into his skin. Even a Great Qi Refiner like him, at the Ascension Stage, couldn’t withstand it!

The Skinny Bamboo Elder endured the pain and looked around, only to see that the people held by the other rescuers were now also gushing mercury from their eyes, ears, noses, and mouths!

He was terrified out of his wits and hurriedly shouted, “Don’t touch the mercury!”

But it was too late. The gushing mercury splattered onto the rescuers, and the incredibly fine silver tendrils burrowed into their skin, traveled through their flesh, and wrapped around their bones!

These bone-clinging tendrils grew with extreme speed. The next moment, they had completely entwined the victims’ skeletons, and then torrents of mercury began to pour from their eyes, ears, noses, and mouths!

“Stay away from them!”

The Skinny Bamboo Elder waved his arm and bellowed, his voice sharp, “Everyone, stay back! Don’t get close!”

The other Qi Refiners were already numb with fear and immediately scrambled away from their mercury-contaminated comrades.

Everyone looked on as the contaminated Qi Refiners stood blankly on the Mercury River, not sinking. Mercury continuously poured from their eyes, ears, noses, and mouths.

Suddenly, countless silver tendrils burst from their eyes, ears, noses, and mouths, whipping through the air!

The contaminated Qi Refiners flew at them, ready to kill. The crowd shrieked and scattered in all directions. Chaos erupted as people were constantly being caught, losing their footing and falling into the water, or being forced onto the riverbank!

Those who were caught became instantly stuck to their attackers upon the slightest touch!

The trapped person would scream in terror and try to pull away, but with too much force, they would rip off half their own body, bones and all!

Those who fell into the river were instantly invaded the moment any part of their body touched the surface. Before long, mercury would pour from their faces as they rose to lunge at others!

As for those who fled to the shore in a panic, a flash of fire would incinerate them, or a glint of a blade would slice them in two—all sorts of deaths awaited!

The boat beneath Xu Ying’s feet was Little Fengxian’s Phoenix Feather Boat. Although Little Fengxian was powerless against Xu Ying, she was utterly ruthless toward the other Qi Refiners.

Before the contaminated Qi Refiners could even reach the side of the boat, they were ignited by a flash of fire and burned to ashes in an instant!

And as for the Qi Refiners who tried to escape onto Little Fengxian’s boat, the girl incinerated them with a flash of fire as well, worried that they might be contaminated or that too many people would sink her small vessel.

Seeing how ferocious she was, Yuan Qi jumped in fright. He recalled the things he had said to her earlier, and his heart hammered in his chest. ‘This lady doesn’t hold grudges, does she? She wouldn’t kill Ying, but if I say the wrong thing, she’ll definitely kill me! Maybe I should be more magnanimous, like Lord Zhong…’

Xu Ying, however, was thinking of something else. ‘Can I take advantage of this chaos, while Xu Fu has no time to watch me, and sneak away?’

A contaminated Qi Refiner charged toward Xu Fu, who seized him by the neck the next instant. Mercury gushed from the Qi Refiner’s eyes, ears, nose, and mouth, contaminating Xu Fu’s arm!

Countless silver tendrils emerged from the mercury and immediately tried to burrow into Xu Fu’s arm, but they couldn’t penetrate it.

Xu Ying’s eyes lit up. He saw Xu Fu gently twist his hand, grabbing the silver tendrils in his fist. He gave a sharp tug and said coolly, “Can you break through an Immortal Body?”

BOOM!

Inside the Lishan Mausoleum, the entire Mercury River, which snaked its way through the mountains, was violently shaken by his pull. The contaminated Qi Refiners were also yanked off their feet, sinking into the Mercury River until only their upper bodies remained above the surface!

The effect was so great that even cries of alarm were heard from far away. The Nuo Masters who had entered this place earlier, some of whom had been contaminated by the strange creatures in the Mercury River and were fighting their uncontaminated comrades, were also pulled halfway into the river, causing them to cry out in shock.
