I Was Summoned to Die, so I’m Climbing the Pantheon for Revenge!

Chapter 33: The S-Rank Milestone and the Parlor of Spiders

Location: Frontierra Kingdom - Cyanis Hollows Labyrinth, Surface Entrance

The massive stone doors of the Cyanis Hollows groaned open, exhaling a gust of damp, ancient air into the afternoon sun.

Stepping out from the oppressive darkness was the Eastern Vanguard. Their armor was scuffed, their cloaks stained with monster blood and dungeon grime, but their posture was undeniably triumphant. Shiori led the way, her silver rapier safely sheathed at her hip. Behind her followed Yua, Mei, Kazura, Shota, Yoshi, and Saintess Evelyn.

They had done it. They had breached Floor 35—a depth no native human adventurer in Frontierra's recorded history had ever reached.

Shiori pulled up her system interface, her eyes scanning the party’s collective data.

[System Status: Eastern Vanguard]

Average Party Level: 150

Estimated Rank Equivalent: S-Tier Base Stats

Current MP Reserves: 34%

Ultimate Skill Status: Locked (To prevent severe physical/mental backlash penalties).

"We found the stairs to Floor 36," Shiori announced, her voice clipped but laced with a rare hint of satisfaction. "However, dipping below thirty-five percent MP in an Uncleared Labyrinth is a death sentence. We rest today, resupply, and push forward tomorrow."

"Level 150..." Shota breathed, clenching his fist. The raw physical strength coursing through his veins was intoxicating. "We're technically S-Rank now, even without our Ultimate Skills. If we run into another Demon Commander, we won't be helpless."

"Do not get arrogant," Yoshi adjusted his glasses, his tone perfectly flat. "Base stats are merely a foundation. But we are making progress."

The party made their way to the Cyanis Adventurers Guild to report their dive. The massive wooden hall fell completely silent the moment the teenagers walked in. Native adventurers, hardened mercenaries in steel and leather, parted like the sea. Shiori casually dropped three heavy, glowing Floor Clear Stones onto the receptionist's desk—absolute proof that Floor 35 had been conquered.

Whispers of awe rippled through the guild. The natives marveled at the Summoned Heroes, idolizing their seemingly limitless magical power. They had no idea that the Heroes' true, world-shaking power—their Ultimate Skills—came with horrifying, life-threatening physical and mental penalties. To the natives, the teenagers were simply untouchable gods of war.

Leaving the guild with heavy pouches of gold, the Vanguard began the long walk back to their inn. The air in Cyanis was biting cold. The Eastern Continent of Meridiana was exponentially larger and vastly more hostile than the Western Continent of Cresthaven. Frontierra and the neighboring Sunderland Nation were at least three times the size of any western kingdom, dominated by treacherous mountain ranges and brutal snowstorms.

"I can't wait until we cross the border into Sunderland," Yua shivered, pulling her cloak tighter. "I read in the library they have steam-powered trains. No more riding in freezing wooden carriages!"

Shiori nodded absently, the adrenaline of the dungeon finally wearing off, leaving behind a heavy blanket of mental fatigue. She slowed her pace, falling into step beside Saintess Evelyn. The golden-haired cleric looked pale, her breathing slightly shallow from constantly maintaining their defensive buffs.

"Saintess," Shiori said softly. "I worry that my pace is too ruthless for you. You are constantly exhausting your holy mana to keep us alive."

Evelyn looked surprised, then a warm, genuine smile broke across her face. She gently shook her head. "Please do not worry about me, Lady Shiori. Before the summoning, my entire life was confined to the marble walls of the Grand Cathedral. Now, despite the terrifying monsters and the constant danger... I am seeing the world. I am experiencing unforgettable things, and most importantly, I have made true friends."

Shiori’s eyes widened slightly. A faint, completely uncharacteristic blush dusted her cheeks, and she quickly looked away, though a small smile tugged at her lips. "I... see. I am glad to hear that, Evelyn."

A few paces behind them, a completely different conversation was taking place.

"Hey, Shota" Kazura whispered, nudging Shota with his elbow. "We have gold. We have free time. Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

Shota’s eyes gleamed with instant realization. "The demi-human maid café in the merchant district. We haven't been since before the labyrinth dive."

Shiori was too mentally exhausted to pick up on their whispering, but Yua and Mei, walking right beside them, heard every single word. The two girls exchanged a highly amused, mischievous glance, silently agreeing to wait for the perfect moment to strike.

"Um, Shiori-san?" Shota called out, putting on an incredibly unconvincing face of serious business. "Kazura and I need to go... buy some specific maintenance oil for our weapons. We'll catch up with you guys at the inn."

Shiori rubbed her temples. "Alright. Do not be late for the evening tactical review."

"We won't!" Kazura promised. The moment Shiori turned her back, the two boys practically sprinted down a side alley, their fatigue miraculously vanishing.

As soon as they were out of earshot, Yua burst into a fit of giggling. "Maintenance oil? Yeah, right. Shiori-san, they're going to that demi-human maid café again to look at cute girls."

Shiori stopped dead in the snowy street. The warm, slightly flustered aura she had from Evelyn's compliment vanished in a fraction of a second. The air temperature around the Vanguard Commander seemed to plummet well below zero.

"I see," Shiori said, her voice terrifyingly calm. "Let us return to the inn. We will... wait for them."

Location: Cyanis City - The "Fluffy Tail" Café

The bell above the door chimed cheerfully. Inside, the air was warm and smelled of sweet baked pastries and vanilla tea.

"Welcome back, Goshujin-sama!"

A petite cat demi-human with short grey hair and twitching, fuzzy ears bounded up to them, offering a bright, sunshine-filled smile. Shota instantly turned bright red, nervously scratching his cheek as he was led to a table.

Kazura, meanwhile, was scanning the room. Suddenly, he felt a soft poke on his shoulder. He turned around, only to jump back with a startled yelp as a beautiful rabbit demi-human girl leaned in close, her long ears flopping adorably as she giggled at his reaction.

For the next hour, surrounded by cute girls, warm tea, and cheerful conversation, Shota and Kazura were completely in heaven. The horrors of the Undead Minotaurs and the freezing labyrinth were washed away in a tide of pure, wholesome healing.

Until Kazura looked at the grandfather clock on the wall.

"Shota," Kazura whispered, the color draining entirely from his face. "The tactical review was supposed to start ten minutes ago."

Shota dropped his teacup with a clatter. "We're dead."

Location: The Vanguard Inn

The heavy wooden door of the inn suite creaked open slowly. Kazura and Shota crept inside, sweating profusely.

Sitting at the center table, her hands neatly folded in her lap, was Shiori. Her eyes were closed, and she was smiling. It was the most terrifying thing either of the boys had ever seen.

"You are exactly four minutes and forty-six seconds late," Shiori stated, her eyes snapping open, devoid of any warmth. "I was unaware that 'maintenance oil' was sold at the Fluffy Tail café. Tell me, why are you squandering our hard-earned labyrinth funds just to stare at cute girls?"

"Boys are so simple, honestly," Mei teased from the sofa, sipping a cup of hot water.

"Hey, Yoshi doesn't do it!" Shota argued defensively, pointing at the bespectacled boy reading a book in the corner. "He's a guy!"

"I have no interest in three-dimensional aesthetics," Yoshi replied without looking up from his page.

Shota and Kazura immediately glared at Yoshi. He knew we were going! He must have snitched!

"Do not look at Yoshi-kun," Shiori commanded, her voice cracking like a whip. "He did not inform me. However, as your Vanguard tactician, he failed to prevent a breach of protocol. He has already accepted his punishment. Now, it is your turn."

Shota and Kazura looked down in horror. Beneath the table, out of their initial line of sight, Yoshi was kneeling on the hard wooden floor in perfect, agonizing seiza. His legs were visibly shaking, but his face remained completely stoic.

"Down," Shiori ordered.

Defeated, having absolutely no courage to oppose their terrifying Commander, Shota and Kazura dropped their knees onto the hardwood floor, entering the agonizing seiza posture beside Yoshi.

"Your weekly allowance of gold is hereby reduced by forty percent," Shiori decreed, standing up. "Furthermore, the maid café is strictly off-limits until our entire class is fully reunited. You will remain in that posture until the tactical review is complete."

"Yes, Shiori-san," the three boys groaned in unison, utterly accepting their miserable fate.

Location: Sunderland Nation - Port Triton, The Government Guest Mansion

Miles across the continent, in the advanced, steam-powered city of Port Triton, Cain Ashford walked up the marble steps of their heavily guarded mansion. He was carrying his wicker basket of groceries, deeply annoyed. He had fully intended to march into the grand parlor, drop the basket on the floor, and loudly complain to Sofia about being used as bait for the city's lustful nobles.

He opened the heavy oak doors, the illusion of his female "Ashford" persona perfectly maintained.

"My Lady, I have returned and I must say..."

Cain stopped dead in his tracks.

The grand parlor was not empty. Sitting gracefully on the velvet sofas, holding delicate porcelain teacups, were three extremely wealthy, high-ranking Sunderland nobles. Among them was the corpulent, jeweled nobleman who had been spying on Cain from the alleyway earlier.

Sofia sat across from them, the absolute picture of a gracious, welcoming high-society hostess. Sebastian stood dutifully behind her pouring tea, his demonic aura perfectly suppressed.

"Ah, my dear Ashford, you have returned," Sofia smiled warmly, though her violet eyes flashed with an unmistakable, predatory glint. "Perfect timing. Please, come meet our esteemed guests. Lord Sterling and his associates were just telling me all about the fascinating political structure of the Capital."

Cain stood frozen in the doorway. He looked at the corpulent noble, who was staring at his female form with a sickeningly greedy smile. He looked at Sofia, who had masterfully bypassed the government's house arrest by simply inviting the corruption directly into her living room.

She didn't just use me as bait in the market, Cain realized, his mind spinning as the true depth of the Demon Lord's strategy revealed itself. She used me to drag the city's most powerful, information-rich spiders directly into her web.

Cain adjusted his grip on the wicker basket, suppressing a tired sigh. The battlefield had officially shifted from the blood-soaked dungeons of the Outland to the velvet-lined parlors of Sunderland. The political game of survival had begun.
