I Was Summoned to Die, so I’m Climbing the Pantheon for Revenge!

Chapter 27: The Iron Leviathan and the Shifting Tides

Location: The Azure Ocean - Aboard the Iron Leviathan

The rhythmic, heavy thrum-thrum-thrum of the cast-iron boiler vibrated through the polished oak deck. Thick plumes of dense, black coal smoke billowed from the brass-rimmed chimney, trailing into the clear blue sky as the Iron Leviathan cut effortlessly through the rolling ocean waves.

At the stern, Cain Ashford stood at the ship's wheel, his dark suit swapped out for a more practical white linen shirt with the sleeves rolled up. His golden-ringed eyes were fixed on the eastern horizon.

A few feet away, leaning against the sturdy wrought-iron railing, Sofia Vileblood watched the Outland Dungeon island shrink into a tiny green speck in the distance. The sea breeze caught her crimson cape and dark hair. For centuries, that island had been her entire world—a prison disguised as a throne. Now, it was just a memory fading into the mist.

"Your coffee, My Lady," a smooth, cultured voice interrupted her thoughts.

Sebastian stood beside her, perfectly balanced against the sway of the ship. He wore a flawless, immaculate black butler’s tailcoat. His demonic features were entirely suppressed; to the naked eye, he was simply a highly refined, handsome human servant with dark hair and striking, formal posture. He held a silver tray bearing two porcelain cups.

"Thank you, Sebastian," Sofia murmured, taking her cup. The rich, aromatic steam smelled divine.

Sebastian walked over to the helm. "Captain. Black, no sugar, as requested."

"Appreciate it," Cain said, taking the cup with one hand while keeping the other on the wheel. He took a sip and let out a satisfied sigh. "Good to have you aboard, Sebastian. Nova was going to make me drink synthesized caffeine paste."

<Host, my synthesized paste contains 400% more efficient energy conversion than this primitive bean water,> Nova chimed in his mind, sounding distinctly offended.

Yeah, but yours tastes like battery acid, Nova, Cain replied internally, smiling faintly.

As he steered, Cain’s mind was rapidly sorting through the petabytes of historical data he had absorbed from the Floor 100 library. The puzzle of the Goddess Kamiya was maddeningly complex. According to the ancient texts, the truth about the Goddess wasn't cleanly hidden in one place. Her lore, her true origins, and the 'strings' Vane had spoken of were fractured into pieces, deliberately scattered across the globe.

Sunderland, the magi-tech holy nation, held the largest piece regarding her connection to the God Realm. But the library hinted at massive, mysterious catacombs beneath the Grand Chapels of the Western Continent, and forgotten ruins in the Demonic Wastes.

Revenge isn't going to be a straight line, Cain thought, his grip tightening on the wheel. It's a global scavenger hunt. And we are sailing right into the hornet's nest.

Location: Sunderland Nation - The Capital City of Vanguard

The Capital City, recently renamed to Vanguard to honor the military coalition against the Abyss, was a sprawling metropolis of steam, brass, and towering clockwork spires. But today, the atmosphere inside the Royal Court was suffocatingly tense.

At the head of the massive, gear-shaped war table sat King Alaric, a regal man wearing fine silk and a crown of polished cog-work. Beside him stood Prime Minister Winston, a hardened military veteran whose chest was heavy with medals.

Scattered around the table were the top nobles, generals, and the Summoned Heroes: Hiroto, Reiji, Kento, Kenji, Yuuto, and Taiyo.

"Explain this to me again, Commander," Prime Minister Winston barked, slamming his fist onto the table.

A breathless, sweating naval guard from Port Triton stood at attention. "Sir! Our coastal Navy Headquarters detected a massive physical and magical displacement via the Echo-Location Crystals. It is a vessel. A steamship, by the signature of its engines. It is currently three hundred nautical miles out, moving at incredible speed directly toward Sunderland."

The Royal Court erupted into frantic murmurs.

"Did we ping the International Mind Communication Network?" King Alaric asked, raising a hand to quiet the room. The global telepathic relay was an absolute treaty law; no kingdom sent a ship into another's waters without connecting to the diplomatic network first.

"We did, Your Majesty," the guard swallowed hard. "Frontierra, Gallowmere, Highlandia... all of them deny ownership. The ship is completely unregistered."

"It's a military invasion!" a Duke shouted, his powdered wig trembling. "A surprise attack by a rogue state!"

"Don't be a fool," another noble countered. "Look at the trajectory on the map! It’s coming from the direct coordinates of the Outland! The uncharted territories!"

"Impossible," Prime Minister Winston growled. "The Outland is devoid of human civilization. Demons do not build steam engines, and monsters do not forge iron. You need infrastructure, foundries, and engineers to build a ship of that magnitude!"

As the adults bickered, Hiroto stared intently at the glowing blue holographic map projected onto the center of the table. His mind analyzed the vectors, the speed, and the sheer audacity of an unregistered ship sailing straight into a heavily armed port.

Reiji stood beside him, perfectly still, his hand subtly resting against his ribs where the phantom pain of his Ultimate Skill still pulsed warmly.

"Your Majesty," Hiroto spoke up. His calm, commanding voice instantly silenced the arguing nobles.

King Alaric looked at the teenage Hero. "Hero Hiroto. You have the floor. What is your tactical assessment?"

"Panic serves no purpose," Hiroto stated cleanly, pointing at the glowing dot on the map. "If it is an invasion fleet, it is a fleet of one. If it is a demon weapon, it is announcing its arrival loudly. I advise we do not intercept it in open waters where we lose our geographical advantage."

Hiroto looked at the Prime Minister. "Line the coastal batteries with your heaviest magic-artillery. Prepare the Royal Navy to create a blockade at the harbor mouth. We watch, and we wait. If the ship shows hostile intent or readies weapons, we sink it before it touches the docks. But if it does not... we let it anchor. And we see exactly who has the courage to sail out of the Abyss."

The room fell dead silent. The logic was flawless.

King Alaric nodded slowly. "We do not have a better option. Prime Minister, execute the Hero's strategy. Ready the cannons."

Location: Sunderland Nation - The Capital City of Vanguard - Royal Court

The gear-shaped war table fell silent as Hiroto finished speaking. King Alaric exchanged a glance with Prime Minister Winston, a silent acknowledgment passing between the two veterans. The boy's logic was unassailable.

"Then it is settled," Alaric declared, rising from his throne. His cog-work crown caught the light as he swept his gaze across the assembled nobles. "We will not meet this unknown vessel with panic. We will meet it with steel and patience."

Prime Minister Winston stepped forward, his medals clinking against his chest. His weathered face was set in grim determination. "You heard the Hero. I want the coastal batteries armed and manned within the hour. Every cannon facing the eastern approach. No gaps in the firing lines."

A young adjutant scrambled to scribble notes, nearly dropping his quill.

"Admiral Vance," Winston barked, turning to a grizzled naval officer in a navy-blue coat adorned with brass buttons. "Assemble the Iron Fleet at the harbor mouth. Form a blockade crescent. Nothing passes. Nothing."

Admiral Vance saluted sharply. "And if the vessel attempts to flee, Prime Minister?"

"Sink it," Winston said without hesitation. "If it shows a single weapon, sink it. If it refuses to halt when ordered, sink it. We did not win the war against the Abyss by being lenient with uninvited guests."

King Alaric raised a hand, softening the order slightly. "But if it halts, if its crew raises a flag of parley... we hold our fire. We have not yet confirmed this is an enemy. Let us not start a war we do not intend to finish."

Winston nodded stiffly, though his jaw remained tight. He had seen too many demon tricks to trust anything emerging from the direction of the Outland.

"One more thing," Alaric added, looking toward the door where the Summoned Heroes had departed. "Keep Hiroto and his party informed. They are our strongest assets. If this vessel carries something we cannot handle, I want those young people ready."

Winston permitted himself a thin smile. "The boy has a good head for tactics. Better than half my admirals." He turned to the adjutant. "Get to the harbor. Move."

The court erupted into controlled chaos as officers and nobles dispersed to their duties. King Alaric sank back into his throne, staring at the glowing dot on the holographic map—the unknown ship cutting through the waves, growing closer with every passing hour.

"Who are you?" the King murmured to the empty hall. "And what do you want?"

The only answer was the distant echo of cannon batteries being rolled into position along the coastal cliffs.

Location: Frontierra - Cyanis City, The Commercial District

Far to the west, entirely ignorant of the geopolitical crisis brewing across the ocean, the teenagers of the Frontierra Vanguard were enjoying their day off.

"Look at this one! The lace is so cute!" Yua squealed, holding up a frilly, pastel blue dress against herself.

Mei nodded enthusiastically, her arms already full of shopping bags. "It matches your eyes perfectly! Shiori is going to be so mad we spent our allowance, but it's worth it!"

A few streets over, the boys' group was engaged in a much different, far more secretive expedition.

Shota Nanase and Kazura were practically dragging a deeply unamused Yoshi down a colorful, lantern-lit alleyway known as the 'Beast-Kin Quarter'. The street was filled with demi-human merchants and performers. Beautiful girls with fluffy fox tails, twitching cat ears, and soft wolf ears walked gracefully through the crowds, carrying trays of sweet buns or playing lutes.

Shota’s eyes were the size of dinner plates, absolute stars sparkling in his pupils. "Kazura... we have found heaven. This is exactly what the manga promised me. Look at the fluff. Look at the ears!"

Kazura aggressively wiped a bit of drool from his chin, nodding solemnly. "This is why we fight, Shota. This is what we must protect."

Yoshi, holding a clipboard with inventory logs, sighed deeply. "You are both degenerates. We are supposed to be buying sharpening stones for the broadswords. If Shiori-san finds out you dragged me to a maid café to ogle cat-girls, she is going to murder us."

Shota froze, the sheer terror of Shiori’s wrath instantly overriding his teenage hormones. He exchanged a panicked look with Kazura.

"Yoshi, buddy, pal," Shota wrapped an arm around Yoshi's shoulder, smiling nervously. "You wouldn't tell Shiori-san, would you?"

"I might," Yoshi said flatly, adjusting his glasses. "It depends on my mood."

Kazura dropped to his knees. "We'll bribe you! Name your price! I'll do your inventory logging for a month! Shota will buy you that rare enchanted dagger from the blacksmith! Just don't tell the Ice Queen!

Yoshi smirked, pulling out a pen. "One month of paperwork, and the dagger. Deal. Now let's get out of here before she actually finds us."

Location: Cyanis City - The High-Tier Apothecary

Shiori was not looking for her classmates. She was standing inside a dimly lit, heavy-scented apothecary shop, intensely analyzing a row of glowing vials.

"The green one contains essence of troll blood," Saintess Evelyn explained softly, standing beside her in a hooded cloak to avoid drawing attention. "It permanently boosts the user's base Vitality stat by three points. The purple one accelerates mana regeneration. They are incredibly expensive, but highly effective for Summoned Heroes."

"We will take two of the Vitality potions for Shota and Caleb," Shiori said, mentally calculating her rapidly dwindling gold reserves. "And one Agility potion for Elias. His reaction times were sluggish during the..."

Ping.

The sound echoed directly inside Shiori’s skull, bypassing her ears entirely. It was the sharp, distinctive frequency of high-tier Mind Communication.

Summoned Hero Shiori, a voice echoed in her mind. It was chillingly melodic, completely devoid of warmth. This is Lucius.

Shiori stiffened, her hand freezing inches from the glass vial. Lord Lucius? We are resting in Cyanis. Is there an emergency?

General Vane has escaped the Grand Cathedral, Lucius’s voice stated cleanly, delivering the catastrophic news as if commenting on the weather. His anti-magic bindings were shattered by an external, high-level abyssal force. Remain vigilant. If he or his accomplices attempt to make contact with your party, do not engage. Report to me immediately.

The mental connection severed with a sharp click.

Shiori’s breath caught in her throat. Her hand trembled, accidentally knocking the green vial. Evelyn caught it with lightning-fast reflexes before it hit the floor.

"Lady Shiori?" Evelyn asked, her eyes widening with concern as she noticed the absolute horror draining the color from the girl's face. "What is wrong?"

Shiori slowly turned to the Saintess, her brilliant, analytical mind racing at a million miles an hour, desperately trying to connect the pieces.

"Vane escaped," Shiori whispered.

Evelyn dropped the vial. It shattered on the floor, glowing green liquid seeping into the wood. "That... that is impossible. Lord Lucius bound him with Divine Chains. No magic on this continent can break them. Not even a High Archmage!"

"I know," Shiori breathed, staring blankly at the wall. "Lucius said an external abyssal force shattered them."

Shiori felt a cold dread settle in her stomach. Lucius was the strongest human alive. His magic was absolute. If someone, or something, had casually walked into the most heavily guarded cathedral in the world and broken the unbreakable... it meant the board hadn't just shifted.

The enemy was playing an entirely different game.
