Chapter 216 147: Dream Observation, Great Terror in the City Lord's Mansion
It was a night of thick, dark clouds. A heavy darkness veiled the entire Celestial Wings Wizard City, moving as if it had a will of its own, creeping forward to engulf everything.
The vision was extremely blurry. Anything further in the past probably wouldn't even exist within a dream.
The many Wizards and mortals in Celestial Wings Wizard City stayed within their Wizard's Residences or manors, able to see only indistinct movement outside.
Only this flowing darkness remained on the streets. Strangely, a few mortal drunkards were staggering along, seemingly unable to see the darkness at all.
Wang Ya's eyes lit up. A Wizard's figure emerged from the void, appearing before the sealed city gates. Though the figure was blurry, it bore a strong resemblance to the Klau that Ma Fei had described.
'A bloody light... that's Biological Energy. A Blood Wizard. That's it!'
Watching Klau's actions, Wang Ya was reminded of Riley Shebel, whom he had fought before.
In the end, Klau died at the city gate, swallowed by the darkness, leaving nothing behind.
Two figures emerged from the darkness. A man and a woman. The man was none other than Law Enforcement Captain Murphy, but his face held no kindness, only venom and malice.
At this point, the cause of Klau's death was all but certain.
Wang Ya's consciousness-body was so faint it could disappear at any moment, but a question still lingered in his mind. Celestial Wings Wizard City was definitely hiding something far more secretive.
This was the real reason the Blood Wizard Klau had been killed.
Could it be related to the strangeness of those Law Enforcement Wizards' bodies?
Something unknown had possessed the Wizards' original bodies and taken their identities... Wang Ya felt he was getting incredibly close to the truth.
Using the last of his Dream Power, he manipulated the Dream Silk Threads, shifting the scene toward the source of the darkness.
The view panned like a camera, moving continuously. The darkness grew thicker, as deep as ink, until it finally settled on the City Lord's Mansion.
Like a fountain, all the darkness emanated from the most central building within the City Lord's Mansion.
This corner of the Dream Realm grew even blurrier; parts of it were even missing entirely.
The reason was the living beings in Celestial Wings Wizard City. The weaker their conceptual impression of the City Lord's Mansion, the blurrier and more incomplete the world presented in that corner of the Dream Realm became.
Suddenly, the darkness began to converge rapidly, as if reacting on instinct. A pair of pitch-black eyes formed in the shadows, radiating a sense of foreboding and evil. Even through the dream image, Wang Ya himself felt a chill, a coldness that seeped into his very soul.
The next moment, his consciousness-body vanished completely. As his Dream Sense withdrew, Wang Ya's own dream faded away with it.
Wang Ya opened his eyes. The expression under his Red Lotus Mask was grave.
That shadowy darkness was related to the soul and consciousness... And that pair of dark eyes that formed on its own was an instinctive reaction to being watched.
Its form was incredibly bizarre, beyond Wang Ya's comprehension.
But one thing was certain: the source of it all was in the City Lord's Mansion, and it was probably the City Lord himself, who had yet to show his face.
The Extraordinary Power of a Dream Wizard is invisible to mortals, and even other Wizards find it difficult to perceive.
That darkness was so dense, filled with fluctuations of an Extraordinary nature, yet mortals couldn't observe it... Like Dream Wizards, its focus was on illusory spiritual aspects, but it walked a different path.
Wang Ya frowned. Within the Wizard System, there was another major category that focused on this aspect.
Black Wizards!!
Wang Ya wasn't sure if the being at the source of the darkness had discovered him, but judging by its aura and scale, its Power definitely surpassed that of a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice.
It should be at the level of a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice.
And not a newly promoted fraud like Hades Antuun, either.
Among Level 3 Wizard Apprentices, this being was in the most powerful tier.
It might even be an Extreme Wizard Apprentice. After all, he had only caught a glimpse from a distance.
Who could it be?
And why would they go to all this trouble?
Wang Ya could only speculate based on the worst-case scenario.
One possibility was an Evil God or some other bizarre creature from Outer Space that had possessed the bodies of many Wizards in Celestial Wings Wizard City, replacing their identities and hiding with an unknown purpose.
The other possibility was a Black Wizard of unknown identity who had used Soul Witchcraft and Black Witchcraft to possess the bodies of the original Law Enforcement Wizards and City Lord's Mansion Wizards, replacing their identities. The purpose behind that was terrifying to even consider.
Celestial Wings Wizard City was a place for raising Flying Griffins and was not short on resources like Magic Stones, yet it didn't have a Wizard Teleportation Array.
This in itself was highly unusual, unless it was done deliberately to reduce traffic from the main branch's Wizards.
Wang Ya faintly suspected it was the latter. He had seen an Evil God before, and this situation had none of an Evil God's telltale signs.
Without a doubt, the matter was extremely serious. It needed to be reported to the Dark Land so the Wizards from the main branch could handle it.
This unidentified Black Wizard's attainments in Witchcraft were absurdly high. Without using the Eye of Truth, even his keen Perception Power couldn't spot any difference.
One could only imagine that the main branch Wizards who came to complete Wizard Tasks would be even less likely to notice anything amiss.
He couldn't stay in Celestial Wings Wizard City any longer. He would leave tomorrow.
As for the necessary evidence, the Blood Wizard Klau had left a ball of bloody light at the city gate, embedding it within the gate itself. It seemed to have recorded the truth of the matter.
Wang Ya felt a degree of admiration for this Blood Wizard Klau. He had been truly outstanding, both in terms of Power and intellect... Sending his hand outside Celestial Wings Wizard City in the end was just a feint.
The bloody light left on the city gate was his real objective.
'Rest easy. Your efforts will not be in vain. I will bring back the truth you paid for with your life.'
Wang Ya's gaze turned incredibly cold.
He felt a decent sense of belonging to the Dark Land.
Setting aside his relationship with the Illusory Dream Wizard for the moment...
The rules implemented by the main branch were relatively fair, treating every Wizard equally. As long as one worked hard, there were opportunities to be seized.
He also had an obligation to do something.
Suddenly, Wang Ya's pupils contracted. Footsteps sounded from the street outside the manor—quite a few of them.
His Extraordinary Spiritual Power could also keenly sense several powerful Wizard auras approaching his manor.
"Arthur Wizard, the City Lord is still handling official business, but he has learned of your request. He has specially made some time and sent me to bring you to him."
Murphy's voice, carried by fluctuations of Extraordinary Spiritual Power, washed over the entire manor.
Wang Ya narrowed his eyes and subconsciously clenched his fist.
Their arrival was a little too coincidental, which was highly unusual in itself.
Could it be that while he was observing through the corner of the Dream Realm, the being at the source of the dark shadows had discovered him and pinpointed his location?
