Wang Chenning had truly underestimated Zhao Xiao'an's audacity.

He had originally thought she was just joking, that her goal was simply to pull him away from Li Fuzhen and Li Yanxian.

He never thought she was serious.

Although she was no match for him, she still gave it her all.

Half an hour later, Zhao Xiao'an murmured breathlessly, "Your gift to me is still a pie in the sky, but what I gave you was a very real 'perk.' Don't I deserve some praise?"

"More than praise. You deserve a reward!" Wang Chenning said, leaning over with a gentle smile. He gave her a kiss, followed by an exquisitely tender reward.

"I'm going to have the sweetest dreams now!" Zhao Xiao'an said, closing her eyes in satisfaction. She then urged Wang Chenning to hurry up and get washed so he could sleep, forbidding him from disturbing her.

Wang Chenning did as he was told and went to wash up.

He was quick, but by the time he came out of the bathroom, Zhao Xiao'an was already fast asleep.

Instead of going to sleep right away, Wang Chenning pulled out his phone and started scrolling.

He had a lot of notifications. Just as he was about to check them, a new message from Li Yanxian popped up.

Wang Chenning opened it immediately and saw that she had already sent him several messages.

"Don't tell me you actually went to bed with Zhao Xiao'an?"

"So you two were already sleeping together. You sure move fast!"

"You gave them gifts, so where's mine? Hmph. The three of us came to Qiantang with you. How could you just leave me out?"

"I don't care. I want a gift, too! I want a villa!"

"Li Fuzhen is asleep. If you're still awake, come find me. I want to talk!"

"Come to my room," Wang Chenning replied, but only after he was back in his own room.

While waiting for Li Yanxian, he replied to messages from Luo Yuqing, Yang Xiaofei, Yang Xiaofu, Zheng Qiuhang, and the others, giving them a brief rundown of his day.

Then he wished them all goodnight.

A moment later, the doorbell rang.

When Wang Chenning opened the door, Li Yanxian, wearing a coat over her pajamas, immediately slipped inside.

"Did you really sleep with her?" Li Yanxian took a deep sniff, but she couldn't smell any trace of a woman on him.

"I did," Wang Chenning admitted freely. "She offered to warm my bed. Why would I refuse?"

Li Yanxian took a deep breath, suppressing her annoyance, and asked in a low voice, "Do you want to marry Zhao Xiao'an?"

"Coming over here in the middle of the night to ask such a pointless question... Don't you have anything better to do?" Wang Chenning sized up Li Yanxian, then gestured toward her pajamas. "Want to make a bet? I bet you're not wearing anything underneath that."

Li Yanxian subconsciously clutched her coat tighter, her hands covering her chest, but she quickly dropped them.

"You gave Li Fuzhen and Zhao Xiao'an villas, but nothing for me!" Li Yanxian shot Wang Chenning a look. "The three of us were sitting right there, and I was looking at you so expectantly, but you completely ignored me. It's infuriating!"

"They both gave me something of great value. Your aunt helped me acquire a villa by the Han River. I didn't want to pay her cash, so I gave her a property in return. Zhao Xiao'an treats me very well and has helped me a lot, so I wanted to thank her. But you? What have you given me?" Wang Chenning watched Li Yanxian with a sly grin. "The benefits you've brought me aren't nearly as significant. In fact, I can't think of anything tangible at all, can you?"

"Then what do you want?" Li Yanxian asked, crossing her arms. "My body, or my heart?"

"Both!" Wang Chenning reached out, pulled Li Yanxian into his arms, and forced her against his body. "I'll just assume that by coming here so late, you're delivering yourself to my bed. Let's skip the pointless chatter. A night like this is precious; let's not waste it."

Li Yanxian shoved him away and huffed, "Don't you dare touch me with hands that have been all over another woman!"

"Then go back to your room and sleep," Wang Chenning said, flopping onto the bed. "I'm tired. I'm going to sleep."

But Li Yanxian didn't leave. Instead, she walked to the edge of the bed, sat down, and then lay down, leaving the space of one person between them.

"I've told you my ambitions," Li Yanxian said softly. "I hope you can help me achieve my dream. If you do, I'll give you anything you want. I'm a woman of my word."

"You're still just a college student who hasn't even graduated," Wang Chenning said, watching her with a smile. "If I remember correctly, you're only twenty-two, right? Why is a twenty-two-year-old girl worrying about these things instead of enjoying her life?"

"If I wait until after graduation to think about this, it'll be too late. By then, there won't be a place for me in the Shanxing Group," Li Yanxian said, looking at Wang Chenning steadily. "My brother, Li Zhihan, is only a year older than me, and he's quite capable. If I wait until I graduate, he'll have already started taking over the company's affairs. Right now, I'm twenty-two and he's twenty-three. We're both still in college. If I can outperform him now, maybe even accomplish a few major things, I can at least carve out a place for myself in the Shanxing Group. And if I want to be successful, I have to start with the Group. Don't you agree?"

"So what's the bottom line?" Wang Chenning asked, narrowing his eyes as he looked at Li Yanxian lying beside him.

'This woman has some serious nerve, lying in bed with me like this in the middle of the night. She isn't afraid something might happen.'

'Or maybe she really is here to offer up a midnight delivery—herself?'

Li Yanxian smiled back. "If you bypass Li Fuzhen and partner with me, give me a major deal worth several billion US Dollars, and also show them the potential for even greater long-term prospects, then the people on the board of directors will have no choice but to notice me."

'So she wants to undercut her own aunt!' Wang Chenning was genuinely surprised.

'Li Yanxian had been so low-key this whole trip. When he was talking with Li Fuzhen and Zhao Xiao'an about buying property by West Lake, she barely said a word.'

'He never expected she was holding back such a major play.'

Wang Chenning passed the ball back into her court. "Since you're being so direct, you must already have a well-thought-out plan. Why don't you tell me what you have in mind?"

"Since you're planning to work with Li Fuzhen on projects within Huaxia, could you give the partnership projects in South Korea and Japan to me?" As she spoke, Li Yanxian's eyes began to sparkle. "Your influence in the traditional medicine communities of South Korea and Japan is enormous. I'm sure everyone understands the importance of any project you're involved with in those two countries."

"Now that's a lion-sized demand," Wang Chenning said, his eyes narrowed on Li Yanxian. "But I'm not necessarily opposed to it. The key is what you're willing to give me in return."

Li Yanxian slowly ran the tip of her tongue over her lips. "My body and soul... isn't that enough?"
