Urban Genius Divine Doctor

Chapter 313: A Golden-Scaled Creature is Not Meant for a Pond; It Transforms into a Dragon Upon Meeting Wind and Clouds

Seeing Zhao Xiao'an at the airport to pick up Wang Chenning, Luo Yuqing assumed they would give her a ride as well.

To her surprise, Zhao Xiao'an was only there for Wang Chenning and stated bluntly that her grandfather's car was for official business only, not for personal chauffeuring.

This nearly made Luo Yuqing lose her temper right then and there.

Zhao Xiao'an ignored Luo Yuqing's dark expression, pulling Wang Chenning by the hand into the car.

Wang Chenning sighed helplessly. Without saying much to Luo Yuqing or Yang Xiaofei, he simply followed Zhao Xiao'an.

Once at the car, he politely greeted Huang Yajun before opening the front passenger door.

However, Zhao Xiao'an pulled him straight into the back seat, making him sit down next to her.

With no one else in the car and Huang Yajun himself acting as the chauffeur, Wang Chenning felt a little embarrassed by the special treatment.

"My grandpa caught a bit of a cold a couple of days ago, and he's been waiting for you to come back and treat him!" Zhao Xiao'an explained as soon as they were in the car. "Plus, he's really interested in your recent trip and wants to chat with you about it. That's why we came to the airport to pick you up!"

"Thank you for Grandpa Zhao's concern." Wang Chenning looked at Zhao Xiao'an with a grin. 'I don't believe for a second she doesn't have other motives!'

Wang Chenning's gaze quickly made Zhao Xiao'an blush. She didn't bother hiding her own little scheme. While Huang Yajun took Wang Chenning's medical kit from an airport staffer and placed it in the trunk, she leaned close to Wang Chenning's ear and whispered, "I'm not feeling well either, you know. You'll have to give me a good treatment. I've been missing your acupuncture. And don't you dare laugh! If you do, I'll pinch you. Hmph! Don't get the wrong idea. I just need your acupuncture to get my body back in balance. Since your technique has proven itself unrivaled across East Asia, that's all the proof we need that it's the best. Sometime soon, I'm going to interview you properly and introduce your technique to the entire world."

"Such a serious excuse!" Wang Chenning teased, pinching Zhao Xiao'an's cheek. He didn't refuse her request, though. "Alright, I'll be sure to grant your wish tonight."

Zhao Jiefang's car wasn't particularly luxurious, but its special license plate signified a unique status. No matter where it went, it faced no obstructions.

The journey from the airport to the Zhao family's old residence would normally take about an hour, but Huang Yajun made it in just over thirty minutes.

Even so, it was already nine o'clock at night by the time they arrived at the Zhao family's old residence.

Zhao Jiefang was resting in bed, tucked under a thick quilt.

In the fickle weather of mid-March, Yandu nights were still quite chilly. Even with the heating on in the old residence, the ailing Zhao Jiefang was sensitive to the cold.

"Grandpa Zhao, you've caught a cold?" Wang Chenning said, sitting down by Zhao Jiefang's bed. "I heard you were sick and rushed over the moment my plane landed!"

"Ah, Xiaowang!" Zhao Jiefang opened his eyes, chuckling as he looked at Wang Chenning. "When I heard you were coming back, I told my doctor I wouldn't take his medicine. I was waiting for you to return and treat me. You caused quite a stir in Seoul and Tokyo, and I wanted to have a word with you. So, what do you say? Shouldn't you get me back on my feet quickly? Otherwise, this old man won't have the energy to chat!"

"Look at you, Grandpa Zhao, cracking jokes now!" Wang Chenning was still all smiles, but his hands were already busy.

He took Zhao Jiefang's pulse and performed a few other checks before telling him, "Grandpa Zhao, you caught a cold which led to a viral respiratory tract infection, complicated by a bacterial one. Thankfully, the symptoms in your lower respiratory tract aren't severe, so it's nothing serious. I'll give you some acupuncture, and if you take the medicine I prescribe for three days, I guarantee you'll be perfectly fine!"

"I have the utmost faith in your medical skills!" Zhao Jiefang smiled back. "I'll only take your medicine. I won't touch any other."

Zhao Xiao'an was delighted to see how much her grandfather trusted Wang Chenning.

Wasting no time, Wang Chenning immediately began the acupuncture treatment. Afterward, he wrote out a prescription and had a staff member prepare the medicine for Zhao Jiefang according to his instructions.

Huang Yajun personally took the prescription and sent someone to prepare the medicine.

Wang Chenning asked Zhao Xiao'an to pour a cup of hot tea for Zhao Jiefang, then had Huang Yajun help the old man sit up against the headboard.

Taking the hint, after helping her grandfather sit up, Zhao Xiao'an gestured for Huang Yajun to leave with her, giving Wang Chenning and her grandfather some privacy.

After Wang Chenning's treatment, there was a fundamental change in Zhao Jiefang's vitality. He seemed like a completely new person.

"Xiaowang, your medical skills are truly superb. And you're so bold in your actions—quite the character!" Now in high spirits, Zhao Jiefang chuckled and sized up Wang Chenning. "I never expected you to earn such a reputation during your trip to South Korea and Japan. They say some people become famous in a single battle, but you became a celebrity after just one trip abroad. To leverage an opportunity so masterfully... that's truly impressive!"

"Thank you for the compliment, Grandpa Zhao!" Wang Chenning chuckled. "I have to agree, I think I did quite well on this trip. The rewards were immense. Not only did I bring back a national treasure—the Song dynasty bronze acupuncture statue—I also won over the Pu family in South Korea and the Tian family in Japan, and even forged a connection with the Shanxing Group. Grandpa Zhao, what do you think? Is it possible for my plan to succeed?"

Zhao Jiefang looked at Wang Chenning with an enigmatic smile. "Was everything you did in East Asia just to lay the groundwork for that plan of yours?"

"I did intend to do a few things to prepare the way before I left, but I never imagined I'd be able to accomplish this much," Wang Chenning said, beaming at Zhao Jiefang. "Grandpa Zhao, you brought this up with me specifically today... does that mean you're ready to throw your full support behind my plan?"

Zhao Jiefang didn't answer directly. Instead, he countered, "Do you truly believe you can succeed?"

"With something like this, how could I ever make a guarantee?" Wang Chenning shook his head. "I can only do my best. Even if I can't achieve the ultimate goal, I can still accomplish quite a bit along the way! Look, I won a national treasure just from a single competition. Even if the final objective isn't realized, pulling off one or two more feats like that would make it all worthwhile!"

"That's a good way of thinking, a good mentality to have!" Zhao Jiefang gave Wang Chenning a thumbs-up. "Since you've already achieved some initial success, you should go for it. Tell me, what help do you need from this old man? As long as it's not too outrageous, I'll consider it."

Wang Chenning shook his head. "I can't think of anything right now. When the time comes, I'll be sure to ask you, Grandpa Zhao."

"That works too." Zhao Jiefang nodded, then added a piece of advice. "If you want to accomplish great things, you must be ruthless. Don't be indecisive or burdened by misplaced compassion. And don't sweat the small stuff. As for whether you earn infamy or praise, leave that for future generations to decide."

Zhao Jiefang's words took Wang Chenning by surprise. Once the meaning sank in, he nodded eagerly. "Thank you for your guidance, Grandpa Zhao!"

"If you truly pull this off, you will be a true hero. You will leave a bold and brilliant mark on the pages of history!" Zhao Jiefang patted Wang Chenning's arm, adding one more thing. "And if you need Luo Yuqing or Xiao'an's help, don't hesitate to put them to work."

"Thank you, Grandpa Zhao!"

Wang Chenning didn't talk with Zhao Jiefang for much longer. Citing the late hour, he urged the old man to get some rest, promising they could continue their discussion on a deeper level during his next treatment visit.

After Wang Chenning left, Zhao Jiefang lay there thinking quietly for a moment before sighing. 'A golden-scaled fish is not meant for a small pond. The moment it meets the wind and clouds, it will transform into a dragon.'
