On a Stormy Night, the Campus Belle Knocked on My Door Seeking Shelter

Chapter 215: A Must-Do Activity for Couples

Chen Mo casually raised his hand and tucked a stray strand of hair—mussed up in the haunted house—behind Su Yuqing’s ear.

"So, what did you think of the haunted house?" Chen Mo asked with a smile, his voice as gentle as ever.

Su Yuqing felt a tiny jolt of electricity where his fingertips brushed against her ear, sending a shiver through her. She lowered her head even further, her voice barely a whisper. "It was... it was fun."

’She said it was fun, but in reality, she hadn’t experienced much of it at all. All she could remember was the warmth of being pressed close to Chen Mo and the euphoric rush of dopamine flooding her brain.’

Seeing that Huang Mao and Zhao Yuanyuan had noticed the atmosphere between them and were about to start teasing again, Chen Mo quickly changed the subject with a smile. "We still have most of the day left. What should we do next? The Ferris wheel?"

"Ooh, yes! The Ferris wheel!" Zhao Yuanyuan’s attention was immediately diverted.

The Ferris wheel was a classic, must-do ride for couples.

Being alone together in an enclosed cabin, slowly ascending into the sky to enjoy the beautiful view—it had a special kind of romance and beauty.

The four of them immediately headed toward the giant Ferris wheel in the center of the park.

On the way there, Zhao Yuanyuan was still excitedly discussing which part of the haunted house was the scariest with Huang Mao, who gestured frantically about the nurse, clearly still shaken.

"So, you think the haunted house here was intense enough?" Huang Mao leaned over to ask Chen Mo for his take.

Chen Mo smiled and glanced at Su Yuqing beside him. Her face was still flushed from the scare, and her breathing was a little shallow.

"Mm, it was... ’memorable’," Chen Mo replied meaningfully, his fingertips gently caressing the back of Su Yuqing’s hand.

Su Yuqing felt a pleasant tingle spread from where he had touched her. The warmth that had just begun to fade rekindled deep in her heart, spreading to the tips of her ears. Though her gaze was lowered, her eyes were filled with a clear, sweet joy.

The sun was warm, the breeze was gentle, and the distant clamor of the amusement park only served to create a deeper sense of peace in their hearts.

Su Yuqing secretly glanced up at Chen Mo. He was looking up at the slowly turning, colorful cabins, his profile sharply defined in the sunlight. He had the fresh-faced look unique to young men, yet also a hint of composure that seemed beyond his years.

’That sweet, warm feeling in her heart—a mixture of fluttering excitement and profound calm—was, just like the Ferris wheel, slowly and steadily ascending to its highest point.’

’She knew that no matter what they did for the rest of the day, as long as he was by her side, this Saturday would forever be a shining memory.’

’And the brief moment they’d held each other in the haunted house, the sound of his distinct heartbeat in the darkness—that had become a secret, precious treasure locked away in her heart.’

Soon, the four of them arrived at the base of the towering Ferris wheel.

The massive wheel turned slowly, each brightly colored cabin like a little box suspended in the sky, carrying either joyous laughter or whispered endearments.

As they waited in the bustling line, Chen Mo naturally positioned himself half a step behind Su Yuqing. He kept his arm slightly raised, hovering protectively by her side to shield her from the jostling crowd.

His scent, a clean mix of sunshine and soap, lingered faintly in the air, causing Su Yuqing’s heart to secretly skip a beat.

"It’ll be too crowded with all four of us, right? Let’s split into two groups!" An idea struck Zhao Yuanyuan as she watched a cabin descend. She grabbed Huang Mao, who was still engrossed in their haunted house discussion, and dashed toward the next empty two-person cabin. "The Yellow-haired Monster and I will go scout ahead!"

She shot a sly wink at Su Yuqing and Chen Mo. It seemed she was trying to create an opportunity for them, but she’d forgotten that she and Huang Mao would also be alone together in a cabin.

This, however, played right into Huang Mao’s hands.

Chen Mo understood perfectly. The corners of his mouth lifted in a slight smile as he leaned down and whispered to the stunned Su Yuqing, "Let’s take the next one."

A moment later, another cabin glided to a smooth stop in front of them.

An attendant unlatched the door. Chen Mo stepped in first, then immediately turned and casually offered Su Yuqing his hand.

Sunlight streamed through the glass canopy, illuminating his outstretched, inviting palm.

Blushing slightly, Su Yuqing gently placed her small hand in his large one. Supported by his steady grip, she carefully stepped into the little world that would soon be suspended in mid-air.

The cabin door closed with a CLICK, shutting out the outside world’s clamor. The only sounds left were the faint hum of the air conditioner and their own suddenly amplified breathing.

The cabin wasn’t spacious. It had two cushioned seats facing each other with a small table in between.

With a slight lurch from the turning mechanism, the cabin began its slow ascent.

The slight sway caused them both to subconsciously lean a little closer in the confined space.

Su Yuqing had intended to sit opposite Chen Mo, but as she stepped in, he deliberately pulled her down to sit next to him instead.

Sitting shoulder to shoulder, alone together in the small, private space, the air grew thick with a charming intimacy.

Even though they were used to being alone at home, the atmosphere here was completely different.

In here, it felt as if they were the only two people left in the world. This sense of intimacy and reliance on each other made Su Yuqing feel like her heart was pounding like a drum.

She couldn’t help but look out the window, trying to use the breathtaking panorama of the park below to distract from her racing heart.

"It’s so high..." she murmured, a completely pointless observation.

The people and buildings on the ground shrank, and the entire vibrant amusement park unfurled before them like a vast, meticulously painted scroll.

In the distance, the city skyline shimmered with a soft golden light in the afternoon sun.

"Yeah, it’s a great view," Chen Mo replied with a smile, offering an equally vapid comment.

Su Yuqing got shy, but so did he. Especially when the atmosphere reached a tipping point that he felt he was about to lose control of, Chen Mo also made an effort to diffuse the rapidly intensifying, almost-unbearable tension.

They both gazed out the window, but out of the corners of their eyes, they were acutely aware of the person beside them.

He watched her face, illuminated by the sunlight streaming through the window. Her long eyelashes fluttered with every curious blink, her nose was delicate, and her lips were full and rosy.

A gentle breeze drifted in through a crack in the small vent, rustling a few stray strands of hair at her temple and tickling her fair cheek.

Acting almost on instinct, Chen Mo raised his hand again. His warm fingertips brushed ever so gently against the side of her cheek as he tucked the stray hairs behind her ear.

In the confined space, the gesture felt far more intimate and impossible to avoid than it had outside.

The pad of his finger faintly grazed her earlobe, and that tiny jolt of electricity shot through her entire body once more. She flinched, and her ears instantly flushed a deep red, like a pair of ripe grapes.

As she pulled her gaze back from the window, her eyes met Chen Mo’s intense stare.

His eyes, which usually held a gentle smile, were now reflecting the streaming light from the window. They were crystal clear, yet they radiated an intensity that sent her heart into a flutter.
