Chapter 168: George vs Luize[2]
Between my position and Luize’s, there was now a huge hole opened in the battlefield.
At the center of the crater, the earth was still collapsing, while clouds of dust slowly rose, hiding much of what was happening.
I remained on the Giant King Shark, watching in silence.
Luize, who had been advancing toward me, stopped his attack.
His expression changed completely.
He stared at the enormous figure slowly emerging from inside the crater.
First, two yellow eyes appeared.
Bright, Cold, and Predatory.
Then, a huge black head emerged from the dust.
It was a Basilisk.
But not an ordinary basilisk.
Its entire body had been molded from extremely dense black rocks. Each scale looked like a plate of raw metal. Its head had a frighteningly sturdy appearance, while a thin tongue slithered between two enormous, sharp fangs.
And that was only the head.
Most of its body was still buried.
Judging by the size of the portion that had appeared, I estimated that, once fully exposed, it would easily exceed twelve meters in height.
I smiled.
That was my new creation.
The Black Rock Basilisk.
Its body had been constructed from high-density rocks found in the depths of the underground world.
Luize seemed to understand the same thing.
— This... this monster is another Golem?
I didn’t answer.
I simply raised one hand.
— Go.
The Basilisk slowly opened its mouth.
For a moment, Luize seemed confused.
Then...
FUUUUUUSH!
A gigantic torrent of earth came out of the creature’s mouth.
— Huh?!
It was Earth’s Filth Vomit.
And I had to admit...
It was extremely disgusting.
The earth was pulled by the Basilisk’s tail, passed through a long tunnel inside the creature’s body, and expelled through its mouth with absurd force.
I hadn’t filtered anything at all.
Rocks.
Sand.
Compacted earth.
Metal fragments.
And even some poor subterranean insects that were probably having the worst day of their lives.
Everything was launched toward Luize.
— YOU BASTARD!
Luize became furious.
He immediately concentrated the tremor energy in front of his body.
A huge tremor web appeared before him, formed by countless intertwined vibrational waves.
SHHHHHHH!
The torrent of earth struck the barrier.
The sound was deafening.
But at that moment, I heard screams coming from the crowd.
— Watch out!
— Behind you!
— Raise your defense!
I narrowed my eyes.
He can’t see.
The wall of earth had completely blocked Luize’s vision.
And then my command was simple.
"Basilisk, bite his axe."
The creature’s head lunged forward.
BOOOOOOM!
Luize noticed the danger at the last instant.
His combat instincts were truly frightening.
He quickly placed the axe in front of his chest.
Puff!
The tremor barrier spread out.
But it was already too late.
The enormous black head pierced through the curtain of earth.
Its jaws opened.
And then...
CLAAAAANG!
The Basilisk’s fangs closed directly around Luize’s axe.
— GRAAAAAAAAH!
The Basilisk began to push him.
It wasn’t simply a bite.
It was a full-body impact.
Its gigantic underground body advanced, using tons of rock as a source of momentum.
Luize was dragged along.
Suddenly, the three-meter-tall man looked small before that colossal creature.
— HAAAAAAA!
But he didn’t fall.
Quite the opposite.
Luize’s muscles began to grow.
Thick veins bulged across his arms and neck.
His bones cracked.
CRACK!
CRACK!
His entire body seemed to be undergoing a physical transformation.
Even I was impressed.
Luize planted one leg on the ground.
Then the other.
His right arm increased in size as he held the axe with absurd strength.
He managed to stop the Basilisk’s advance.
Or rather...
He managed to prevent himself from being crushed.
The problem was that the ground didn’t share the same resistance.
Luize’s legs began to sink.
RUMBLE!
He continued being pushed backward.
A huge amount of earth accumulated behind his body.
When the Basilisk’s advance finally stopped, Luize was practically buried up to his waist.
Even so...
He was smiling.
— You must have already used all your strength, right?!
His eyes were completely filled with the excitement of battle.
— Now it’s my turn!
I frowned.
Luize grabbed the axe with both hands.
He pulled violently.
The Basilisk was forced to pull its head back.
That was exactly what he wanted.
Luize bent his knees.
— HAAAAAAAAAA!
He jumped.
BOOM!
His body rose into the air.
Then descended with the axe above his head.
— TAKE THIS!
POOOOOOW!
The axe struck the Basilisk directly on the forehead.
The sound was similar to the collision of two gigantic metal plates.
Rock fragments flew everywhere.
Sand fell like a waterfall.
Parts of the black shell were torn away and scattered across the field.
The crowd erupted into cheers.
Some parts of the Basilisk’s surface were damaged.
But...
It remained intact.
After all, that wasn’t flesh, nor bones to be broken.
It was simply a gigantic mass of adamantine rock molded to fight.
Thus, under my remote control, the Black Rock Basilisk began to move.
Its gigantic body twisted violently, wrapping itself around a huge column of earth that had risen from the field like a mountain.
RUMBLE...
The creature pressed itself against the earthen structure, accumulating strength.
Then, suddenly, its body began to pull back.
Its head disappeared once again into the cloud of dust.
But Luize wasn’t an idiot.
He immediately realized what I was doing.
— I’M NOT GOING TO LET YOU!
His roar tore across the field.
A storm of vibrations exploded around his body. Invisible waves distorted the air as he lowered his body and charged directly into the cloud of dust.
Luize disappeared.
And, in the next instant...
BOOOOOOM!
The cloud of dust exploded in all directions.
Earth, rocks, and sand were hurled across the field.
The air became completely filled with elemental particles.
I could barely see anything.
For the spectators, it was probably even worse.
The enormous amount of dust, combined with the disturbances caused by the Earth energy and Luize’s vibrations, had created a true natural barrier.
Even the magical senses of the stronger acolytes were being impaired.
I, however, could still sense my Basilisk.
Luize is advancing.
Now he’s attacking.
BOOM!
A huge rock was sent flying out of the cloud.
Meanwhile, I was mounted on the Giant King Shark, away from the center of the battle.
I raised my hand.
— Light Bow.
A luminous structure appeared between my fingers.
I pulled the string.
ZIIIIING!
A light arrow appeared.
I aimed toward the cloud.
ZOOOOSH!
The arrow disappeared into the dust.
Then another.
And another.
At the same time, the Hunter Knight mounted on the Shark raised its arm.
Several earth spears were fired into the cloud.
I didn’t need to see Luize directly.
The Basilisk was already fighting him in there.
I only needed to take advantage of any opening.
Then...
— GRAAAAAAAAH!
Luize’s roar echoed.
That battle had stopped looking like a fight between two acolytes.
It was like watching gigantic monsters trying to destroy each other.
And from the corner of my eye, I noticed that the crowd had completely changed.
Before, many of them had looked at me with contempt.
Now...
Respect.
I was still a Level 2 Acolyte.
And yet, I was facing Luize, the Tremor Axe, in a battle that no ordinary Acolyte would dare to face.
I didn’t need to be physically at the center of the fight.
My Golem was part of my strength.
Then...
BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
A monstrous explosion shook the field.
The cloud of dust violently parted.
Something came flying out of it.
Luize’s gigantic body crossed the air like a cannonball.
CRASH!
He hit the ground with tremendous force.
The earth split open beneath his back.
For a few seconds, no one spoke.
Then the crowd began to murmur.
Luize was covered in injuries.
Blood flowed all over his body.
His left arm was completely broken, bent at an angle no arm should ever assume.
His right hand still held the axe.
Or rather...
What remained of it.
The weapon, which had previously seemed extremely sturdy, was now deformed.
There were deep scratches all over the blade.
Bite marks.
And several cracks.
He tried to stand up.
— Hahah...
Even in that state, he was laughing.
Then blood flowed from his mouth.
— Cough... cough!
He spat blood onto the ground.
But the injury that caught my attention the most was on his face.
A deep cut began below his left eye and descended diagonally to his right chin.
The flesh was exposed.
And there was something strange about it.
Black rock particles were embedded in the wound.
Elemental contamination.
The Basilisk’s particles were directly interfering with his regeneration.
Even with that absurd physique, a wound like that wouldn’t close easily while the particles remained inside his body.
Then he raised his eyes toward me.
— Cough... good boy...
I raised an eyebrow.
— Good boy?
He laughed again.
— This guy... is really strong!
He looked at the Basilisk.
Then at the deformed axe in his hand.
— If I hadn’t made the stupid mistake of trading some of my useful magical equipment for that pile of trash...
He coughed once more.
— You wouldn’t have gained this advantage so easily...
....
