Rebirth: My CEO Husband's Thoughts Are Too Shameless

Chapter 156: You can be shameless around me

["Does she really think she can wake the beast and simply run away? Not happening."]

Dominic’s thoughts echoed clearly in Clara’s mind, leaving her momentarily stunned.

She stared at him in disbelief.

Seriously...? My husband really has no filter when it comes to his thoughts.

Then another realization struck her.

Wait... Don’t tell me he was awake this whole time?

Her eyes widened. Did he hear everything I said earlier?

Clara slowly turned to look at Dominic as though he had suddenly become the eighth wonder of the world.

At this moment... he truly deserved the title.

"Dom..." she called cautiously.

Dominic lazily raised an eyebrow. "Hm?"

"Since when were you awake?" She tried to sound casual, but inside she was panicking.

If Dominic had heard her talking to herself, how on earth was she supposed to explain it?

"Oh, by the way, I was reborn."

No. He would probably drag her straight to a psychiatrist.

Meanwhile, Dominic watched his wife staring at him with narrowed eyes as if she were conducting some strange scientific experiment.

[Why is she looking at me like that?] His brows knitted together.

[Did I say something weird?]

Dominic wasn’t the type of man who openly expressed his feelings. He preferred letting his actions speak for him.

Unfortunately... his thoughts didn’t share the same level of restraint. Then another horrifying possibility crossed his mind.

[Wait... does she think I’m some kind of pervert who gets turned on that easily?]

Clara blinked in surprise. Just what goes on inside this man’s head? However, she couldn’t help letting out a helpless sigh.

At least she could now relax. There was no way Dominic had heard everything she had whispered earlier. Otherwise, his thoughts would’ve been completely different.

There was, however, one thing she was absolutely certain about.

Even in his sleep...

The slightest touch from her was enough to awaken him.

"Why would you ask that?" Dominic finally spoke after overthinking the situation for no reason.

Clara pressed her lips together to stop herself from laughing.

"Oh, nothing." She shrugged innocently. "I was just wondering if your subconscious is so devoted to me that simply being close is enough to... you know..."

She deliberately left the sentence unfinished.

Dominic instantly understood.

"..."

His ears turned bright red and he awkwardly cleared his throat as he looked away.

"No." The answer came a little too quickly.

Clara folded her arms.

"Dom."

"Hm?"

"You know you’re a terrible liar, right?"

"I don’t lie."

"You absolutely do."

"I don’t."

"You just did."

Dominic remained stubbornly silent.

A smile slowly spread across Clara’s face. She loved moments like these.

The mighty Dominic Hayes—feared by almost everyone—could negotiate billion-dollar deals without blinking. Yet a little teasing from his wife was enough to make his ears glow crimson.

It was adorable.

"No need to be embarrassed," Clara teased with a grin. "You can be shameless around me."

This time... even Dominic’s cheeks turned pink.

"I am not shameless."

"Oh?" Clara tilted her head innocently. "Should I repeat what you were thinking a minute ago?"

"..."

Dominic gaped at her in utter disbelief. [There is no way she can read minds.]

Clara burst into laughter and pinched his cheeks. "You really are cute."

"Cute?"

Dominic looked genuinely offended.

"No one has ever called me cute."

"Well, get used to it." She patted his cheek before climbing out of bed.

"Now come on." Her playful expression disappeared, replaced by determination. "We have something important to do."

Dominic’s smile faded as well. He sat up and watched her carefully.

"What is it?"

"We need to find Thomas." Clara’s voice turned serious. "We can’t let him keep roaming around after everything he’s done."

She headed toward the wardrobe, already planning her next move.

"This time, I’m dragging him to the police myself."

Dominic calmly crossed his arms. "And you think he’s sitting comfortably in his house waiting for you to knock on the door?"

Clara froze mid-step.

"..."

She slowly turned around. "...Good point."

After everything that had happened at the Crimson Crest, Thomas would never be foolish enough to return home. He had likely disappeared before sunrise.

Clara frowned. Then another thought surfaced.

Gen...

She still hadn’t asked why Gen had been at the club that night. But that conversation would have to wait. Thomas came first.

She looked back at Dominic. "Dom."

"Hm?"

"I need your help." Her voice softened. "I want Thomas found... no matter what."

She wasn’t doing it for revenge anymore. She wanted justice.

Justice for Gen. Justice for every life Thomas had destroyed.

Dominic looked into her determined eyes and felt his heart skip a beat.

"I’ll help you," he said without hesitation.

"But before that..." He smiled knowingly. "You should remember what day it is."

Clara frowned.

"What day..." She stopped speaking.

She had been so focused on Thomas that she hadn’t spared a second thought for anything else.

Just then— her phone suddenly rang. The sound startled both of them.

Clara glanced at the screen. Her eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.

"Mr. Logan?!" She gasped.

"Oh my goodness!" She slapped her forehead. "The charity event!"

In her panic, she tried scrambling across the bed, only for the blanket to wrap around her legs.

"Whoa—!"

She stumbled forward, barely catching herself before falling flat on her face.

Dominic couldn’t stop himself from laughing.

"Careful."

"I am being careful!"

"You almost attacked the floor."

"I did not!"

"You lost the fight against a blanket."

Clara shot him a glare before hurriedly answering the call.

"Good morning, Mr. Logan!"

She forced a cheerful smile despite her panic. "Yes, of course I remember today’s event."

Dominic watched from the side, trying—and failing—to suppress another laugh.

His wife had gone from threatening criminals... to being defeated by a blanket in less than thirty seconds.

Just as Clara hurried into the bathroom, completely forgetting everything they had been talking about moments earlier, Dominic remained seated on the bed, his thoughts lingering on her words.

His expression gradually turned thoughtful.

Without wasting another second, he reached for his phone on the bedside table and dialed a number.

The call connected almost immediately.

"What time does the charity event begin?" he asked calmly.

As he waited for the answer, his gaze never left the bathroom door, quietly watching it as the sound of running water echoed from inside.
