Chapter 39
"This is where her mom lives?" Mark asked as we walked up to her apartment door.
I had called Alpha Michael early to let him know he would be coming to talk to Ebony’s mom.
"If you are bringing Ebony back, I don’t want her," her mom said, making me upset.
"I need to ask you a few questions," I said
"I am busy at the moment," she replied
"It is important, or do I need to get Alpha Michael to make you let me in?" I said, and she moved over for me to enter.
I saw empty bottles of vodka, beer, and cigarette buds when I walked inside. There was trash all over the floor. It looked worse than when I came with Ebony to pick up her items. Ebony’s mom sat on the couch while Mark and I sat on two chairs beside each other.
"So what do you want?" she said while lighting a cigarette.
"Alpha Michael told my father that when you first moved here, you said that you needed protection from Ebony’s father," I said
"Yeah and,"
"I was wondering why and who her father is," I asked.
That is none of your business,"
"No, but Ebony deserves to know who her father is. You told her that he left you because she was born female," I said, and she just looked at me.
"If he was your Mate, I don’t think he would have left you. I think you lied to Ebony," I said
"Why would I lie to her? What I told her was the truth,"
"So he was your Mate?" I asked using my Alpha tone
She didn’t respond, and I knew that my suspicion was correct.
"Why did you lie to Ebony?" I asked, and she sighed
"Her father and I dated in high school. I used to live in The Alpha Kingdon with my parents. Her father ended up leaving me when he found his Mate. He knew I was pregnant and left me with his baby in my belly. When I gave birth to Ebony, he said he would take her away from me. I was not right in the head, but I knew it was because his Mate completely wanted me out of the picture. She didn’t only want the love of my life but also my child. So I decided that since he hurt me, I would hurt him. I left right after giving birth to Ebony. Her father was supposed to come and take her from me the next morning," She said.
"So you just took her away?" I asked shocked
"Yes, he didn’t deserve to have a daughter after what he did to me," She said
"And you do, after everything you put your daughter through," I growled.
"Ebony is just like him. Thinking she is better than everyone else. She is nothing just like I am," She said, and I growled and stood ready to strangle her.
"Keith, calm down. Ebony wouldn’t want you to hurt her mother no matter how crazy she is," Mark said
I knew he was right, so I took a deep breath and calmed myself.
"You will never see Ebony again," I said
"You break my heart," she said sarcastically.
Suddenly a thought hit me. Ebony was a white wolf, and her mom was from the Alpha Kingdon. So Ebony couldn’t be just a normal wolf.
"Who is Ebony’s father?" I growled using my Alpha voice
She tried to fight telling me but couldn’t
"Prince Jacob," she said, and Mark and I stood shocked.
"Ebony’s father is the Kings daughter?" Mark asked
"When I knew him, he was only a prince," Her mom snarled.
"I would punish you, but I know the Royals will do a better job when I tell them where you are," I growled before opening the door.
"I might act like it now, but when I took Ebony away, I didn’t just do it for me. I did it for her too,"
"Sure you did," I said and walked out of the door.
