Chapter 68 - 68 Home Sweet Home
"Fuck." The person shouted in a feminine voice. I looked up at her and saw her blood red wings flapping faster than before, then I looked up at her face. My brain slowly processed what I saw and I finally identified my savior.
"Alice." I said in a weak voice
"Yep, you can thank me for saving you later but right now we need to get out of this forest." She said as she flew faster, trying to get out of the forest before the sun fully rose but it wasn't meant to be. Before she reached the half way point the sun fully rose in the horizon smiling at her. Gritting her teeth, she created a large shroud made of shadows covering the both of us and hiding us from the sun. We soon reached the city and I could tell Alice was running out of DP as the Shroud fluctuated, it seems she hadn't recovered enough. Soon the cloak disappeared and her skin came into direct contact with the sun and she screamed in pain as steam started to rise from her skin but she continued flying. We soon reached close to the house and Alice's skin was red, almost like an imps. Then I saw fire appear on her hand and instantly, I spread my wings and covered her. Anymore exposure to the sun and I fear the worse may happen. The two of us crashed into a building and I barely noticed as we rolled out of the sunlight but I still kept her covered by my wings and I noticed that she has already fainted from the pain and exhaustion, and I soon followed behind her as my vision became blurry before going completely black.
"Colin….wake up…COLIN!!!!" shouted someone and I groggily opened my eyes. Standing over me were five people, two guys and three girls.
"What do you guys want?" I asked tiredly as I looked at them, my vision blurry.
"What happened, why are you sleeping in this building?" Synthia asked and I could almost make out the frown on her face.
"Well about that…" I told her what happened in the forest with as much detail as my exhausted mind could remember and the more I said the deeper her frown became. I was also now fully awake but I still felt awful. My DP was still drained and my LP was at a less than ideal amount.
"Looks like you got your ass beat." Kirt smirked and I snarled at him, making him quickly point his spear at me
"I'm not afraid of you little demon." Kirt said and I wondered what gave him such confidence. Then I looked at all of them and noticed something different about them but couldn't quite place it. I activated [Aura Vision] and I looked at their auras, their auras were still blue but there was a golden hue surrounding the blue one.
"Did these guys evolve again?" I asked Synthia
"Yep, they are now Saints." She replied
"Wait how did they evolve so fast?" I asked incredulously
"They don't need as much exp as we do and they cultivated for two days straight." She said
"I would love to see you try and beat us in a fight now." Claire said with a smirk on her face and before I could react I felt Alice snuggle closer to me. I had honestly forgotten that she was there.
"Aww, isn't that cute." Kirt said but this time I didn't respond.
"We should get back to our place. Can any of you block out sunlight?" I asked
"I can." Said Tim. I got up off the ground, my balance was still unsteady, and held Alice in my arms as we walked outside. Tim held up his hand and the sunlight bent around me creating a bubble of pure darkness.
"So I'm guessing you have [Light affinity] or something?" I asked
"Yeah that's right. Claire has [Fire Affinity], Roxy has [Ice Affinity] and Kirt has [Lightning Affinity]." Tim replied and I just nodded my head. Tim must have been really good because I couldn't see a thing through the darkness bubble but thankfully my [Aura Vision] still worked so I could still see where I'm going. After walking for fifteen minutes or so, we reached our house and I immediately brought Alice upstairs. I reached her room and as I tried to place her on the bed she grabbed my pants, what's left of it anyway, tighter refusing to let go. I tried putting her down again but she wouldn't let go and I could only sigh.
"We'll leave you two alone for now." Synthia said with a mischievous wink before she pushed the others out of the room. When I sensed that all of them left the house I let out a tired sigh and fell on the bed along with Alice.
