Chapter 58 - 58 History Lesson(2)
'Fallen Ones.' I thought as Synthia continued telling the story
"Those that became Fallen Ones managed to survive the Chaos energy and adapted to it, this in turn corrupted the holy energy inside their bodies. The Fallen Ones managed to gain new skills and traits with their new source of energy and they even thrived in that environment. The Fallen Ones eventually had children and that's how the Demon race came to be." Synthia said, and both Alice and I nodded along.
"So the entire Demon race came from these Fallen Ones, huh." I said to myself
"Well, not exactly. The Angels didn't really know what was going on in the Underworld because as I told you before it was off limits to us. The reason we know all of this is because Demons came to Earth and started turning humans into demons as well. These humans became demon subclasses like vampires and werewolves. This caught the attention of the Angels and this started what was known as the Holy War which lasted like two thousand years or something. The demons were eventually repelled back to the Underworld but some of them did remain on Earth, but as far as I know nothing above tier 2 and with no way to level up they eventually died out. The barrier between the Underworld and Earth was reinforced to prevent something like that from happening again." She continued, and I wondered how devastating such a war would have been. At my current level of power, I could cause large amounts of destruction and I'm sure that those old Demons and Angels were far more powerful than I am, an army of them could have possibly laid waste to the entire planet, yet the human race had no recollection of these events. Although there were stories of Demons and Angels, there were so many different versions that they were considered fiction. But there was also something else that her story made me think about.
'That lines up with the description of [Holy Resistance]. So all of this happened before, it is kind of funny how history has a way of repeating itself like some kind of cruel joke.' I thought, but didn't voice that thought outloud
"Oh yeah there is something else you should know. There are seven kings of the Underworld that rule the seven demon houses. You already know about Bellicus, the House of Wrath that is ruled by Azazel who is one of the Fallen Ones. The other houses are Morning Star, the House of Pride ruled by Lucifer himself. Fames, the House of Gluttony ruled by a Demon that goes by the name Beelzebub. Invidia, the House of Envy ruled by the Great Sea Serpent, Leviathan. Aurum, the House of Greed ruled by the Demon, Mammon. Eros, the House of Lust ruled by the Demon, Asmodius. And lastly, Tardus, the house of Sloth ruled by the Fallen One, Belphegor. Bear in mind that this information is from a couple thousand years ago so a lot could have changed in that time. The reason I'm telling you this is because once you reach tier 4 you will have to choose a house to be apart of. When that time comes we will have to part ways." She said with a sigh.
This gave me a lot to think about. To be honest I don't want to join any of these Demon houses. I have lived a life dictated by other people before and I definitely don't want to be under someone else's rule ever again, especially a Demon. I don't want to feel weak ever again.
"Now then, let's talk about auras. Your aura is basically your energy, whether demonic, holy, or whatever humans have, flowing outside of your body. This is natural and is not harmful to you in any way. The amount, quality and control of the energy leaking out of your body can be used as a demonstration of strength, but that's just something I heard from older Angels. That's practically all I know about auras except what is said in the [Aura Vision] skill description." She said with a shrug.
'Well that's a bust.' I thought
"Theoretically if you wanted to hide your aura how would you do it?" I decided to try a different way of asking the same question.
"Well that depends on the situation I'm in. If I wanted to redirect someone's attention I would flow my aura into something and throw it as far as I could, that would buy me a few seconds at least. But in your case that wouldn't work, I would try to retract my aura into my body but from what I know that causes extreme headaches." She said and winced a bit. I wonder if she ever tried it.
"You said that there were differences with demonic energy and Holy energy. Can you tell me more about that?" I asked
"I have no idea what using demonic energy is like so I can't tell you about that. But I can tell you about holy energy. Holy energy is calm and tamed but it can be violent when the user wants it to be. Holy energy reacts well to strong positive emotions and desires such as the desire to save someone." She said and then something clicked. When I was a Halfling and created [Senses Manipulation], [Demons Pride] and [Demon Enchant] I didn't have [Demonic Energy Manipulation] which gave me the ability to manipulate demonic energy at will. Back then I could only use desire to manipulate my demonic energy and even then just barely. Maybe I have been going about manipulating my aura the wrong way, maybe it was time I tried using both will and desire.
