Chapter 8 - 9 University of the Dead(2)
Reaching the first floor the first thing I smelled was the overwhelming stench of iron and decay that almost made me throw up. Flies buzzed in the air around the mangled corpses, though calling them corpses would be generous as they looked more like sacs of spoiled meat with their skin ripped off, their bones exposed with most of their faces ripped off, devoured most likely. Rats scuttled about as they feasted on the corpses, but most of them ran when I stepped onto the floor and walked towards the door leading outside. There was an entire wall of glass doors, through which I saw hundreds of undead thralls walking outside but strangely they didn't react to seeing me so I could only assume the glass was opaque from the outside, making them unable to check inside to see if their were any living souls to devour. Shaking my head, I tried to block out the nauseating smell of rot and activated [Aura Vision]. I focused my ability on the first floor and managed to lock onto the aura of over a dozen thralls through the blanket of red energy that was created by the mass numbers of undeads.
Completing my search I ran towards the first group of thralls, as I ran in their direction the nauseating smell grew more intense. These damn thralls, it's only been three days and they made this place smell worse than a dump. I soon found my prey, there were six of them in total and they were devouring a corpse. Walking into the room, they immediately turned their hungry gazes on me while I took my machete from around my waist with an excited grin on my face. They lunged at me like feral beasts baring their fangs and claws but I wasn't afraid,, quite the opposite actually. I jumped backwards into the corridor and forced them to come at me through the door one at a time.

It wasn't hard to kill them with my upgraded physique and their lack of Intelligence which made them lack like feral beasts made it even easier as I decapitated the first one with a swing of my machete. The second one lunged at me before the head of the first even touched the ground, and I kicked it back into the room causing it to crash into another thrall, sending both of them crashing into the sports supplies at the back of the room. The third thrall came at me and I stabbed it in the throat and then slashed the blade horizontally severing an artery causing black blood to spill out like a fountain, splashing onto my clothes and it's head was only attached to it's body by a small strip of flesh. I finished the job by cutting the string that kept it's head attached to the rest of it's body, and I watched coldly as it fell to the ground, turning into more exp. The last two finally stood up, growling and snarling at me before lunging towards me like wild animals, but they fared no better than the last four.

'I have gotten powerful.' I thought while clenching and unclenching my fist, and I felt even more confident now. I flicked the blood off my machete before heading to the next cluster of red auras and I was surprised when the stench started getting worse. I didn't think that was possible, but now my eyes were watering, and my stomach churned. It got so bad that I could barely breathe and I knew that I couldn't fight like this so I tried something. I closed my eyes and tried to concentrate, I didn't take a deep breath for obvious reasons. Ever since my evolution into a halfling I could feel this elusive dark feeling inside my body pumping around my body like blood. I instinctively knew that this was the demonic energy that the interface mentioned and I tried to forcefully control it but it wouldn't do anything so I tried a different approach. Instead of forcefully controlling it, I concentrated on my nose and imagined blocking out the putrid smell that infested the first floor. I could feel the energy creeping towards my nose like blood and after a while, a notification appeared before me.
[Congratulations, you have unlocked the Trait, Senses Manipulation.]
