My Married Roommate Asked Me to Give Her a Baby

Chapter 42 – Not One Good Person

Chloe did not notice the accidental exposure.

Her eyes were closed, her teeth lightly pressing into her lower lip as she enjoyed that sour, aching relief.

After rubbing for a while, Evan quickly withdrew his hands.

"All right, Chloe. Stand up and walk a couple of steps."

Chloe stood and stamped her feet.

Her face filled with surprise.

"Magic. It really doesn't ache anymore. Damn, kid, you actually have skill."

She walked over and patted Evan's shoulder.

"How about this? I'll pay to open a shop for you. You specialize in bone-setting. What's the point of graduating from that crappy technical college? You'll still just work for someone."

Evan hurriedly shook his head.

"Spare me. I can't do work that serves people."

Chloe hooked an arm around his neck and leaned close to his ear with a wicked laugh.

"I think you're just afraid the customers won't be beautiful women. If they all come with grown men's stinking feet, you won't be able to put your hands down, right?"

Being exposed in one sentence, Evan dryly laughed and did not answer.

Chloe leaned even closer. Her breath was warm near his ear.

"Just now... what did you see?"

Evan swallowed and answered in the same low breath.

"Purple."

Chloe's face heated. She reached out and pinched Evan's waist hard.

"Bad boy. Look again next time, and I'll dig your eyes out."

After dropping that threat, she twisted her waist and returned to the guest room.

Hannah was also too sleepy to keep going. She yawned and went back to her room.

The next morning, Fiona had just walked out of the girls' dorm when she saw three men squatting not far away, smoking.

Her heart dropped.

She turned and tried to run back upstairs.

But the collar at the back of her shirt was grabbed hard. She was dragged into the nearby grove.

"You little bitch, still trying to run?"

"Bull! I was wrong. I wasn't trying to run!"

Fiona trembled all over, tears bursting out immediately.

"The money... I can gather it by this week at the latest. I swear I'll give it to you."

"Go to hell. Why should I believe you?"

Bull spat thickly on the ground.

To escape, Fiona could only make something up.

"There's a boy chasing me. His family owns stores. They're rich."

"I talked to him yesterday. He promised to ask his family for money and help me repay the debt."

"The money will arrive in a couple of days. I'll give you all an extra five hundred, okay?"

Bull exchanged a look with his men and sneered.

"Fine. I don't think trash like you dares play tricks."

"But one week is too long. I'll give you three days."

"If I don't see money in three days, we'll tie you up and send you to a salon to receive customers until the debt is paid."

After speaking, Bull shoved Fiona hard and left with his men, cursing.

Fiona's legs went weak. She sat on the ground for a long time before finally managing to stand.

Her mind was a tangled mess.

She was completely desperate.

If she could not avoid being sold either way, then she might as well choose a slightly better way to sell.

She decided to keep asking around and see whether there was any buyer willing to pay a higher price.

When Fiona walked into the classroom like a ghost, Mason immediately stuck his eyes to her.

Previously, Mason had said harsh words and claimed he would no longer care whether she lived or died.

But those were angry words.

Last night, after drinking alone, he had regretted it and felt sorry for her again.

Some people were born with the cheap fate of a bootlicker.

Mason moved beside Fiona and nudged her with his elbow.

"Fiona, sorry. What I said that day was all angry talk."

The moment Fiona heard Mason soften, she looked like she had grabbed a lifesaving straw. She immediately put on a pitiful expression.

"Mason, I'm the one who should apologize. I shouldn't have hurt your heart like that. I failed to do what I promised. It was all my fault."

"Fiona, don't say that. Can we... go back to how we were before?"

Fiona nodded hard.

"Of course. We've known each other so long. We're best friends."

The mood was set.

Then Fiona changed direction.

"Mason... I've run into some trouble lately. I urgently need money."

"Do you have any spare cash? Can you lend me some? I'll definitely pay you back after finals."

Mason froze on the spot.

They had reconciled for less than three minutes, and she was already borrowing money?

Mason swallowed.

"Fiona, how much do you need?"

Fiona gritted her teeth.

"Do you have eight thousand?"

Mason's head buzzed.

Where would a student living on allowance get eight thousand cash?

His family had several stores, but he could not possibly have that much private money.

At that time, eight thousand was equivalent to half a year's wages for an ordinary worker.

Mason scratched his hair wildly.

"Why do you need so much money?"

Fiona's eyes reddened. Tears came as soon as she called them, and she lied without blinking.

"I won't hide it from you. My dad suddenly had a brain hemorrhage. He needs surgery immediately. I want to gather money to save his life."

Mason froze.

"Don't you have an older brother? Won't he pay?"

"My brother just got married last year. You know that. Where would he get money?"

Fiona's tears fell.

"I can't just watch my father die."

Seeing the girl he liked crying like this, Mason clenched his teeth.

"I really don't have that much. If I lower my face and borrow, I can at most gather four or five thousand."

Fiona's eyes lit up.

"Four or five thousand is fine."

"Mason, hurry and help me think of a way. The fee has to be paid within three days. My dad is already waiting in the hospital for surgery."

Mason nodded heavily.

"Okay. I'll try."

Fiona's calculations flew fast.

Selling her first time plus the money Mason gathered would fill the loan shark hole.

And she would only receive one customer once.

After it was done, nobody would know.

On the other side, Hannah and the others had all gone to work. The house was empty.

Click.

The front door opened.

Rowan took off his shoes and, without even putting on slippers, walked straight toward the kitchen.

Evan had said before that he would make Hannah a big meal with several hard dishes.

Rowan scanned the kitchen.

He knew hard dishes would definitely use spices like peppercorn, star anise, and other aromatics. Those things were usually stored together in one spice box.

Rowan took a plastic bag from his bag.

Inside was white powder.

He poured all the powder into the spice box, closed the lid, and shook it hard.

After finishing, Rowan put the spice box back in its original place.

Then he turned and left the kitchen.

He could no longer wait.

Time did not wait for people.

If the old man found out he could not have children, who the family assets would fall to in the future was truly uncertain.

And lately, his older brother had been casually probing into his and Hannah's situation, asking whether Hannah's stomach had any movement.

Rowan did not want delays causing more trouble.

He had to make this happen quickly.

Elsewhere, Fiona called another friend.

This friend's name was Mia. She worked at a bathhouse and did not know April.

"Mia, I need to ask you something."

Fiona lowered her voice.

"Are you still working at the bathhouse?"

Mia answered, "Yeah. Why?"

Fiona spoke frankly. She said she owed money and wanted to sell her first time.

Mia was not surprised at all after hearing it. She had seen too many things like this.

"You can come to our place. I heard the boss say if it's a first-timer, one session can pay three thousand."

Fiona froze.

"Only three thousand? April told me it could sell for eight thousand."

Mia sneered.

"Eight thousand? Are you crazy? Are you diamond-plated?"

"She's lying to you."

"April wants to trick you over first, then force you to sign a long-term contract."

"Once you sign, if you dare not make money for them, they have plenty of ways to ruin your life."

"Use your brain."

Fiona suddenly shivered and cursed through clenched teeth.

"That bitch April. She tried to trap me."

Then Fiona asked, "Mia, which bathhouse are you at?"

"Chloe's Bathhouse."

Mia added, "Our boss is Chloe Quinn. She follows rules. She doesn't mess around."
