CHAPTER 36: The Rebuilding and the Imperial Tremors
*ARC 5: THE SOVEREIGN EMPIRE & THE IMPERIAL CONVERGENCE*
The golden spatial portal closed behind House Sterling, leaving the snowy ruins of the Sword Monarch Fortress in dead, absolute silence.
Within forty-eight hours, the news of House Aurelius’s complete annihilation and the total absorption of the Northern Realm by House Sterling swept across the four continents like a planetary shockwave.
In the Central Capital, inside the majestic Golden Dragon Palace of the Solari Empire, Third Prince Julian was brought before the Imperial Court on a floating jade stretcher. His limbs were wrapped in splints, his Dantian shattered, his voice trembling hysterically as he repeated Gabriel’s stern warning to the Emperor and the assembled High Generals.
An eerie, suffocating quiet had fallen over the Imperial Palace.
For three thousand years, the Solari Empire had treated the Outer Realms as mere vassal territories. Yet now, a man named Gabriel Sterling—holding a Martial Saint cultivation, backed by an invincible floating sanctuary, commanding Peak Martial Kings, and leading two S-Rank dragon-physique heirs—had drawn a line in the snow that no royal army dared to cross.
"The Northern Realm... gone in a single day?" the Imperial Prime Minister stammered, his face white as chalk as he held the tactical report. "House Aurelius's ten-thousand-sword array... erased by a single finger?!"
Sitting on the high dragon throne, the Solari Emperor—an ancient, Late-Stage Martial Saint—looked down at his broken third son. He slowly closed his eyes, letting out a long, heavy sigh that echoed through the vast marble hall.
"Issue an Imperial Decree immediately," the Emperor commanded, his voice deep, heavy, and devoid of any desire for revenge. "Recognize House Sterling's absolute sovereignty over the Northern and Southern Realms. All imperial taxes, border checkpoints, and military garrisons within those regions are to be withdrawn completely."
The Chancellor bowed until his forehead touched the cold floor. "Your Imperial Majesty... what about a marriage or alliance?"
"Send a grand diplomatic retinue carrying ten Grade-7 Spirit Veins and fifty million High-Grade Spirit Stones as a congratulatory gift for the opening of the Sterling Royal Palace," the Emperor ordered flatly. "We do not provoke a sleeping dragon."
Meanwhile, high above the clouds of the Northern Realm...
Where the ruined fortress of House Aurelius once stood, a miraculous transformation took place.
Gabriel stood atop the Floating Cloud Island, overlooking the vast snow-capped mountain ranges below. Beside him stood Evelyn, wrapped in a warm, dark dragon-silk coat, her face restored to a radiant, youthful beauty thanks to the high-tier pills from the Alchemy Hall.
Ethan and Elena stood behind them, watching their father raise his right hand.
"System," Gabriel commanded silently. "Deploy the Sterling Royal Palace Blueprint."
[Ding!]BZ—ZZZ-T![Deploying Imperial Sovereign Architecture: 'The Sterling Royal Palace'...]
A blinding, multi-colored heavenly light enveloped the entire mountain summit!
The jagged white cliffs shifted and reformed seamlessly. Towers made of pristine white dragon-jade and obsidian stone rose hundreds of feet into the sky. Floating sky-bridges connected high cultivation pavilions, while grand defensive arrays etched with golden dragon runes wrapped around a fifty-mile perimeter!
At the center of the main palace plaza rose the Hall of the Sovereign Monarch, flanked by the fully expanded 8 Sovereign Halls, including the newly established Sovereign Forge and the Spirit Herb Garden Hall, which began drawing the dense spiritual Qi of ten high-tier spirit veins into the soil.
In less than ten minutes, the ruined, cold fortress of House Aurelius was replaced by a grand, breathtaking palace complex that outshone even the Solari Capital!
Evelyn stared at the majestic white-and-gold palace in utter disbelief, tears of joy welling in her dark eyes. "Gabriel... is this... our new home?"
Gabriel gently pulled her closer, looking at Ethan and Elena, who were smiling with fierce pride.
"This is House Sterling," Gabriel said softly, his voice full of warmth and absolute authority. "Our home, our domain, and our legacy."
Later that evening...
Inside the central throne room of the Sterling Royal Palace, a grand family feast was held. The table was lined with rare spirit delicacies, thousand-year wine, and high-tier Qi fruits harvested directly from the Spirit Herb Garden.
Malakor, General Ignatius, Lord Tyrion, and Lord Harrison bowed from the entrance of the hall.
Gabriel raised his cup, looking at his wife and children.
"Dad," Ethan spoke up, his eyes shining as he held his cup of spirit wine. "What's our next step? The entire continent recognizes House Sterling now. Even the Central Imperial Household has pulled back its garrisons."
Gabriel set his cup down, a calm, razor-sharp smile playing on his lips.
"We continue our strategy," Gabriel said smoothly. "We consolidate our territory, train the System-provided specialists, and let the 8 Sovereign Halls expand quietly across all four realms under disguised banners."
Gabriel turned his gaze toward his System interface, where his newly acquired Martial King Summoning Card rested alongside millions of high-grade resources.
"The world thinks House Sterling has reached its peak," Gabriel declared softly, his dark golden dragon pupils flashing with absolute dominance. "They have no idea... that our march has only just begun."
