Chapter – 45 – The Grave Spear Rain
Seven guardians had emerged—humanoid monsters of incredible power, their bodies radiating darkness and malice. They surrounded a single figure floating in the air. Lucien.
To an outside observer, it might have looked like Lucien was in grave danger. But those who knew him understood the truth: Lucien never invited trouble without a surefire path to victory.
"What should we do, Quindic?" Fayie asked, her voice trembling with urgency.
"We should go and help Lucien," Rosra said, already gathering her astral energy. "There are too many enemies right now."
Gwenra watched the scene unfold with a smile playing on her lips. She knew better than anyone that this would be no trouble for Lucien. She'd seen what he was capable of in the dungeon, had witnessed his power firsthand. These guardians were nothing compared to the forces he'd already overcome.
"Isalyn, we should go and help Lucien," Kelie urged, her eyes fixed on the floating figure above.
"Don't worry," Isalyn replied, her voice calm and assured. "You should trust him."
Kelie's cheeks flushed slightly. "I trust him more than anyone. He saved me from Halfred when I was unconscious. He's the only one who truly helped me grow without taking advantage of me. But there are too many enemies now—if we don't help him, what if something happens? He fought Zarah, and he isn't fully recovered yet—"
Isalyn pressed a finger to Kelie's lips, silencing her gently. "I told you—trust him. If he put himself in this situation, there must be a reason. For now, let's just observe."
Kelie fell silent, her eyes still fixed on Lucien with worry.
Isalyn smiled, a serene expression that hadn't been there before her death. When she'd been resurrected, she'd found a new faith—not in any distant god, but in the man who had saved her. She'd truly died and been given another chance at life, and she wouldn't waste it on doubt.
Quindic turned to Rosra and Fayie. "You're right. We should prepare to attack immediately."
But before any of them could move, Lucien spoke.
"Surrounding me?" His voice carried across the battlefield, calm and almost amused. "How considerate. Now none of you can escape."
He raised his World Root Executioner Halberd, the blade gleaming with dark energy. The seven guardians attacked as one, their forms blurring with impossible speed as they closed in from all directions.
Quindic prepared to jump into the fray, to help his ally—
But Gwenra appeared in front of him, her hand raised, her gaze fixed on the sky.
"What's the meaning of this, Gwenra?" Quindic demanded, his voice thick with rage. "Do you want Lucien to die?"
"Stay here," Gwenra said, her voice cold and commanding. "Or you'll get caught in it."
"Caught in what—"
The golden light exploded across the sky.
A massive semi-sphere of pure golden energy enveloped everything above them, turning the dark sky into a sea of brilliant yellow light. The guardians paused, looking upward in confusion—and so did everyone below.
And then, the spears descended.
From the heavens, from the golden hemisphere above, millions of black spears rained down like a funeral storm. The Grave Spear Rain—Lucien's new technique, a skill of such devastating power that it seemed to rival the wrath of gods.
Lucien looked down at his companions, a slight smile on his face. He signaled with his hand, and the spears converged on the guardians with impossible speed—faster than light, faster than thought.
There was no escape. No deflection, no blocking, no running. The guardians were pierced a thousand times over, their forms dissolving into nothingness. Lucien activated Soul Void, consuming their souls and converting them into power for his system.
As the last of the guardians fell, Quindic's jaw dropped. "What... what is that?"
"It was like god himself descended from heaven to punish the evil doers," Fayie whispered, her eyes wide with awe. She watched Lucien's face—calm, composed, a slight smile playing on his lips. His golden eyes held no anger, no happiness. Just the cold satisfaction of a predator who had completed a hunt.
Rosra pressed her hands together, her heart pounding. "Lucien... just how far will you go? Will I ever be able to catch up?"
Gwenra watched the scene with knowing eyes. She'd sensed that Lucien was preparing for something big, but this—this was beyond her expectations. "Even the heavens seem to tremble when he draws his weapon," she murmured.
Isalyn and Kelie stood together, their hands clasped. "I told you to trust him," Isalyn said, her voice warm. "It's nothing for him."
"One attack," Kelie breathed. "Just one attack, and he killed all the guardians at once."
Lucien absorbed the last of the souls and turned his gaze upward, toward the giant eye that still watched from above.
"Even your shadow looks stronger than you," he said, his voice dripping with mockery.
The eye screamed—a demonic, unholy sound that shook the very foundations of the dungeon. Hundreds of fireballs rained down from the sky, a desperate attempt to destroy the one who dared to mock it.
Lucien smiled.
Instead of retreating, he flew upward, toward the fireballs. Any that came near him, he simply slapped aside, swatting them away like insects. He climbed higher and higher, closing the distance between himself and the eye.
And when he was close enough, he swung his halberd.
Horizon Splitter—a technique that could cleave the world itself. The blade sliced through the eye, splitting it in two. The eye let out one final scream before dissolving into nothing.
But in its place, a dark orb remained—a sphere with a blinking eye at its center.
Lucien caught it and activated Divine Inspection.

Lucien pocketed the orb, a satisfied smile spreading across his face.
Below, everyone watched in stunned silence. No one could find the words to describe what they'd just witnessed. It was beyond comprehension, beyond belief.
Gwenra, Rosra, Fayie, and Quindic stood together, their eyes still fixed on the spot where the eye had been. Kelie and Isalyn approached them, their steps light and relieved.
"How are you doing, Rosra?" Kelie asked, her voice soft.
Rosra immediately embraced her childhood friend, tears streaming down her cheeks. "Kelie! I'm so glad you're okay. I'm so glad you're alive!"
Kelie held her tightly, tears of her own threatening to spill. "I'm okay. I'm here."
"Kelie," Rosra said, pulling back to look at her friend's face. "Where's Halfred?"
Kelie's expression faltered. "I... I don't know. He abandoned us." Her voice cracked. "If it wasn't for Lucien, I would have died long ago."
Rosra pulled her into another embrace. "Don't worry, Kelie. I'm sorry I wasn't with you."
"Did you guys miss me?" a familiar voice called from behind them.
Isalyn stepped forward, a bright smile on her face.
"Isalyn? You're alive!" Fayie rushed forward, throwing her arms around her friend. Tears streamed down both their faces as they embraced. They were like sisters, bound by years of shared trials and triumphs.
When Isalyn had died, Fayie had considered ending her own life as well. Only the thought of revenge had kept her going—revenge against the dungeon that had taken her friend. But then Gwenra had arrived, saving them all.
"How are you alive?" Gwenra asked, her tone genuinely curious.
"It was Lucien," Isalyn replied, her smile widening. "He saved me. It turns out I was still alive even after that ordeal. My god saved me—my belief saved me." She paused, her eyes shining with newfound faith. "Then Lucien healed me and used his regenerator abilities to restore my face."
Isalyn had hidden certain details from the group. Such as, How lucien had used Soul Restoration Lotus to save her. The way Lucien had touched her, the whispered words in her ear, the implication that he might be something other than a savior. Those were private moments, not meant for sharing.
But Gwenra could see it—the change in Isalyn. She was no longer the dainty, fragile woman who had entered the dungeon. She was cheerful, vibrant, happy simply to be alive.
'That's what happens to some people when they get closer to death,' Gwenra thought. 'They learn to appreciate life in a way others never can.'
A ripple in space behind them announced Lucien's arrival. He emerged through a Void Tear, his expression calm, his posture relaxed.
Rosra saw him and immediately rushed forward, throwing her arms around him in a tight embrace. Lucien raised a hand to her head, patting it gently.
Isalyn watched with barely concealed jealousy. Lucien ignored her.
"It's been a while, Senior Sister," Lucien said, addressing Gwenra.
Gwenra smiled. "Yeah... it's been a while. I never thought I would see you again."
"This dungeon took a lot out of us," Lucien agreed. "But now, it's time to get out of this hidden area."
"What if Zarah is still waiting for us?" Fayie asked, her voice laced with concern.
Gwenra shook her head. "I don't think so. Her mission has already failed—we all got sucked into the void. Why would she wait for us? She'll just assume we all died." She paused, her expression hardening. "And even if she's waiting, we can't live here forever."
Lucien nodded. "Let's go."
They flew upward, toward the sky where the giant eye had once hung. In its place, a whirlpool had formed—a swirling vortex of light and energy that seemed to lead to another world.
One by one, they touched the whirlpool and were swept upward, through the fabric of reality itself.
They emerged in the Hollow Grave, the ruins of the giant tower stretching around them. The familiar landscape was a welcome sight after the horrors of the dungeon.
Lucien felt a pulse of power as a notification appeared in his vision.
[The Heart of the Undying Death God] Completed.
Reward: The Heart of the Undying Death God.
Lucien's eyes widened slightly. 'I'll have to examine all of these items later,' he thought, storing the information away for future use.
The group looked around the Hollow Grave. There was no sign of Zarah.
"It seems like she's not here anymore," Quindic observed. "I think it's safe."
"Yeah," Gwenra agreed. "At least for now. Let's get out of the Hollow Grave of Death Pit."
"Let's go," everyone echoed.
As they walked, Gwenra reflected on everything that had happened. So many things had occurred in this wretched dungeon. So many had come, so many had died. There had been betrayal and redemption, despair and hope, death and rebirth. She had grown stronger than ever, her values had shifted, and she was no longer the same person who had entered.
And it wasn't just her—Isalyn, Fayie, Rosra, Quindic, Kelie, and even Lucien had all been changed by the experience.
'This was truly a life-changing experience,' she thought.
They finally reached the exit—the giant door that had once stood as the entrance to the Hollow Grave of Death Pit. As they passed through, the door crumbled behind them, the intricate stonework falling apart as if it had never existed.
They were in the Ancient Breach once more.
The weight of the dungeon lifted from their shoulders, and everyone let out a collective sigh of relief. They'd survived. They'd overcome impossible odds. They'd faced a fifth-realm Heaven Pulse master, a world-ender warden, and horrors beyond imagination.
And they were still standing.
Then they saw them—a group of realm masters waiting for them. At the front stood Delian Alde, her smile warm and knowing.
"Lucien," Delian said, her voice carrying across the open space. "The Black Fog Incident is about to begin."
Lucien's expression shifted, his golden eyes narrowing with interest. He stepped forward to meet her, leaving the others behind.
