Chapter 216: Don’t Want Him to Get Hurt
Su Zhaozhao was completely oblivious, only thinking that she would probably be able to see Xie Huaizheng in the next day or two.
At the thought, Su Zhaozhao felt a bit nervous and anxious, but also a little excited.
’I hope I can see Xie Huaizheng soon.’
She had also prepared plenty of delicious, nourishing ingredients for Xie Huaizheng.
’Missions are so tough; of course he’ll need to eat lots of good food.’
She had also prepared a small gift for Xie Huaizheng, something she made after learning to draw from Li Chunhong to pass the time.
Li Chunhong was incredibly talented and could do anything, but Su Zhaozhao could only manage simple cartoon drawings.
She used their wedding photo as a reference to draw a cute, colored cartoon of her and Xie Huaizheng.
She had also bought him a full set of clothes and daily necessities for his stay.
’He can use them when he gets here.’
Everything was ready.
That very afternoon, while Su Zhaozhao was chatting with her grandparents, she heard a knock on the door.
Su Zhaozhao immediately ran over to open the door.
Her breath caught when she saw Xie Huaizheng standing in the doorway.
Then, she flew into his arms, hugging him tightly.
Xie Huaizheng was also overjoyed to see Su Zhaozhao. She was as beautiful as ever—in fact, she seemed to have grown even more so.
Away from the dry, sandy winds of West State, Su Zhaozhao now looked even more radiant and full of life.
Her eyes lit up the moment she saw him, and she threw herself into his embrace.
Xie Huaizheng caught her.
But while Su Zhaozhao looked thin and frail, she was so excited that she rushed at him with surprising force.
She slammed into him, right against his wound.
He let out a muffled grunt of pain.
But he quickly composed himself, determined not to let her notice.
But Su Zhaozhao noticed anyway.
Her initial joy vanished. She pulled away from Xie Huaizheng and looked him over.
"You’re injured?"
Xie Huaizheng decided not to hide it. "Yes, a minor injury, but it’s already been treated."
"Where is it? Let me see."
’I know it must be on his torso. I must have hurt him when I rushed over, right?’
Su Zhaozhao felt a pang of guilt.
But Xie Huaizheng said to her, "Don’t rush. Are those your grandparents? They’re looking this way."
Su Zhaozhao snapped out of it and turned to see Xu Yingmin and Li Chunhong standing behind her.
"Zhaozhao, is this your husband?" Li Chunhong asked.
"Yes. Hello, Grandpa, Grandma. I’m Xie Huaizheng." Xie Huaizheng waved and greeted them.
"Hello, hello." A brilliant smile immediately spread across Li Chunhong’s face.
It was because the young man before her was simply too handsome. He had a striking face, a righteous air mixed with a cool temperament, and he was tall with long legs. His posture was exceptionally ramrod straight. He was honestly more handsome than any movie star.
Standing next to her granddaughter, they were the very picture of a perfect couple—a match made in heaven!
She had been worried that, since Su Zhaozhao had married so young and so quickly, her husband might just be a smooth-talking playboy.
But now, Li Chunhong felt her worries had been unfounded.
She had judged countless people in her life, and she could tell at a glance that this young man was a good one.
Xu Yingmin also walked forward and greeted Xie Huaizheng.
Su Zhaozhao pulled Xie Huaizheng by the hand and said to him, "Come on, let’s go put your luggage away first."
Xie Huaizheng nodded.
He had quite a few things with him. The gifts for her grandparents were also in his backpack and needed to be unpacked.
Su Zhaozhao took Xie Huaizheng by the hand and led him into her room.
As soon as the door was closed, Su Zhaozhao started tugging at Xie Huaizheng’s clothes.
"Let me see your injury. How bad is it?"
Su Zhaozhao had been worried and anxious ever since she found out he was hurt.
Seeing her hands start pulling at his clothes without any argument, Xie Huaizheng’s gloomy mood was instantly swept away.
Looking at the worry covering the girl’s pretty face, Xie Huaizheng felt both happy and crestfallen.
’She doesn’t know anything. She doesn’t know she mistook me for her fiancé, that she married the wrong man.’
’If she found out, would she leave me?’
He suddenly had no idea how to bring it up with her.
Four hours had passed since he’d found out. He had waited for his emotions to settle a little before coming to see Su Zhaozhao.
He didn’t want Su Zhaozhao to see what he was thinking.
He grabbed Su Zhaozhao’s hand. Her wrist felt so slender.
He could easily wrap one hand around it.
The next moment, he pulled Su Zhaozhao into his embrace.
Then, he lowered his head and kissed her.
It had only been half a month, but to Xie Huaizheng, it felt like a lifetime.
He had missed her every moment he wasn’t busy.
Now that she was right in front of him, he no longer had to hold back.
Her lips were soft and sweet with a faint scent of jasmine. He couldn’t get enough of kissing her.
But Su Zhaozhao’s mind was still on one thing, and she kept trying to push him away.
But she didn’t dare to use too much force, knowing he was injured.
She was caught between her worry for him and her fear of hurting him further.
In the end, she had no choice but to let him kiss her until he was satisfied before she could break free.
Su Zhaozhao rested in his arms, catching her breath. After a moment, she pulled away and said, "Stop messing around! Hurry up and lift your shirt. I want to see your injury!"
Xie Huaizheng looked at her. Her cheeks were flushed from his kisses, but her glistening eyes were filled with worry.
He couldn’t help but sigh deeply.
’It looks like she won’t let this go until I show her.’
Xie Huaizheng had no choice but to lift his shirt.
Su Zhaozhao looked and saw the same firm, dense muscles, their lines and contours clearly defined.
Only this time, his chest and waist were wrapped in thick layers of gauze.
She couldn’t tell the exact location of the wounds, but the sight was terrifying.
"There’s an injury here in the front, and one on my back," Xie Huaizheng said to Su Zhaozhao.
Su Zhaozhao’s eyes followed his finger, and she couldn’t stop herself from gently touching the spot.
"It must hurt a lot, right?"
"It’s alright. I’m used to it."
He had barely finished speaking when Su Zhaozhao shot him a glare. "You’re not allowed to get used to it. You need to remember the pain so you’ll try to avoid getting hurt in the future."
’Seeing him hurt made her own heart ache.’
Her heart ached for him.
She knew it was impossible for Xie Huaizheng to avoid injury, but even if his body was already covered in scars, Su Zhaozhao would still feel pained for him.
Xie Huaizheng had only said that to keep her from worrying so much.
Seeing the pained look on her face, he couldn’t help but reach out and pull her into his embrace.
"Zhaozhao, I promise you, okay?"
