Hello, Comrade. I'm Here to Marry You!

Chapter 302: Thankful for Your Appearance

Xie Huaizheng had just thanked Su Zhaozhao with an embrace when he felt her body go limp in his arms, her head resting against his chest.

Loosening his hold slightly, he saw that Su Zhaozhao had closed her eyes and fallen asleep.

Her cheeks were flushed red, her eyes were shut tight, and her lips were slightly pouted. He had to admit, she looked absolutely adorable.

Xie Huaizheng couldn’t help but laugh. He reached out and gently pinched her cheek.

‘What a little drunkard.’

‘She can’t hold her liquor, yet she loves it so much.’

‘But it’s fine. As long as I’m by her side, she can drink as much as she wants without any trouble.’

‘In any case, I’ll take good care of her.’

‘But if I’m not by her side,’ Xie Huaizheng thought, ‘I won’t allow her to drink at all.’

Su Zhaozhao slept until she woke naturally the next day, looking at the thick quilt on top of her.

Worried she would be cold, Xie Huaizheng had used two quilts. They felt heavy on her, but they were incredibly warm.

‘So I actually slept until ten in the morning again.’

Su Zhaozhao stretched comfortably.

‘Not having to wake up early feels so blissful!’

Su Zhaozhao couldn’t even stifle a yawn.

‘I remember comforting Xie Huaizheng, and then… I must have passed out. Everything after that is a blur.’

After washing up and eating breakfast, Su Zhaozhao started to pack her things.

‘Since we’re going to Beijing, I naturally have to pack my luggage.’

‘Three or four outfits should be enough.’

Although her space was very convenient and she could take things out whenever she wanted, Su Zhaozhao remained vigilant and wouldn’t casually reveal it in front of others.

Even though she and Xie Huaizheng were very much in love now, human nature was the hardest thing to predict.

It wasn’t that she didn’t trust Xie Huaizheng, but after so many years of dealing with criminals, Su Zhaozhao had learned one thing: always leave yourself an out.

Many years from now, when she was certain Xie Huaizheng truly loved her, then it would be fine to tell him about the space.

But not now.

She hadn’t even been to his home yet, and she had no idea what his family was really like.

Previously, after Huang Jiqin found out she wasn’t the intended bride from the childhood engagement, her attitude toward her had become a little strange.

In truth, Su Zhaozhao didn’t dare to gamble on human nature.

If, when the time came, Xie Huaizheng was unwilling to stand by her side and protect her, Su Zhaozhao felt that she might actually divorce him.

Of course, this was just a paranoid fantasy. In all the time she had been with Xie Huaizheng, he had never once disappointed her, always standing by her side.

Su Zhaozhao was still packing when Xie Huaizheng returned.

He came in from outside, a chill clinging to him.

He took off his coat before walking over to give Su Zhaozhao a hug.

“I just went to buy the train tickets. Our train is tomorrow.”

Su Zhaozhao was surprised. “So soon!”

She took the tickets and glanced at the information. They were for two soft sleeper berths.

Xie Huaizheng also handed a bag of chestnuts to Su Zhaozhao. “I just saw these on the street. Want to try some?”

‘Eating something like this is the best on such a cold day.’

“Okay, thank you, honey,” Su Zhaozhao said to Xie Huaizheng immediately.

She took out a chestnut and started to eat. They were all pre-scored, so they weren’t hard to peel.

As she ate, she also fed some to Xie Huaizheng.

The two of them finished the bag quickly.

Xie Huaizheng glanced around the room, saw the suitcase on the floor, and asked her, “Packing?”

Su Zhaozhao nodded. “I’m still not sure how much to bring.”

“Just bring some personal items. You can wear one of your coats, and we’ll buy anything else you need when we get there.”

“Wouldn’t that be too wasteful?” Su Zhaozhao frowned. She wanted to bring her own clothes.

‘After all, my clothes are all from my space. The quality is impeccable, the designs are simple and elegant, and the materials are probably unobtainable even for the wealthiest people today.’

“Beijing has a lot of big department stores. We can go shopping when we’re there and buy some things. Some of the clothes are really nice,” Xie Huaizheng said.

“Of course, I haven’t really shopped around much myself, but that’s what my mom and my sister say.”

“Well, I’ll bring two outfits then. If I want more, we can buy them there.” Su Zhaozhao bargained with Xie Huaizheng, finally making her decision.

“Okay.”

With the decision made to head to Beijing tomorrow, Su Zhaozhao felt a little apprehensive about the unknown journey ahead.

Previously, she had married Xie Huaizheng on impulse, thinking he was the male lead of the novel.

Having read the novel, she knew a lot about the male lead. She knew that he was, no matter what, a good person, and that although his family had fallen on hard times, they were all good people too.

So, Su Zhaozhao had essentially jumped in with her eyes closed.

But as for the current Xie Huaizheng, Su Zhaozhao had no confidence at all.

The only member of his family she had met was Huang Jiqin.

For lunch, they made a lamb hot pot, which, along with some side dishes, was the perfect warming meal.

“Honey, can you tell me a little about your family’s personalities? So I can be prepared.” Still feeling uncertain, Su Zhaozhao decided to press Xie Huaizheng for more information.

Xie Huaizheng laughed. “No need to talk about my mom; you already know her. As for my dad, he’s a lot like Uncle Li. They were classmates and are very close. He holds a high-ranking position, so he can be a bit serious, but don’t be afraid of him.”

“My older brother and sister are both married and don’t usually live at home, so you don’t have to worry about them. My grandfather, though… you’ll need to pay attention to him.”

Hearing Xie Huaizheng’s words, Su Zhaozhao’s eyes widened.

“What’s wrong with your grandfather?”

In truth, Su Zhaozhao was also worried about Xie Huaizheng’s grandfather.

After all, Old Sir Xie had originally intended for Xie Huaizheng to marry Shu Xue, the granddaughter of his old comrade-in-arms!

But who would have known that a mix-up would happen?

‘Will Old Sir Xie be really unhappy with me because of this?’

‘Will he think I approached Huai Zheng with ulterior motives…?’

‘I mean, I did have a motive at first, but my target wasn’t even Xie Huaizheng!’

Su Zhaozhao was worried she would be wrongly accused.

Seeing Su Zhaozhao’s slightly pale face, Xie Huaizheng quickly explained, “Don’t worry too much. My grandfather is a very nice person, but I’m worried he’ll be so enthusiastic that he might scare you.”

“I’m actually a little worried. He originally wanted you to marry Shu Xue, but… I accidentally married you instead… It wasn’t on purpose…”

Xie Huaizheng looked at Su Zhaozhao’s guilty expression and knew that she still hadn’t gotten over that incident.

She was worried his family would be biased against her because of it.

Xie Huaizheng pinched her soft, smooth cheek. “Don’t worry. I’ve already given them a heads-up. My grandfather knows about it too, and he’s not angry. They should be secretly celebrating the fact that I managed to get married at all.”

“Zhaozhao, they should be thanking you. If it weren’t for you, I’d probably still be single.”
