Chapter 73 - 72: Not for You, the Trade Begins
Hearing this, Qin Haonan paused for a moment. "What does them winning have to do with our trade?"
"They defeated Lvzhi Country’s aircraft carrier, so they should be in a good mood, at least!" Ren Yuanyang replied with a smile.
Lu Jiamei frowned slightly. "Lvzhi Country actually surrendered? That doesn’t seem like them. Boss, could Wang Jun’s group have already gotten the experimental data directly from Lvzhi Country?"
"It’s possible, but they’ll still trade with us. Verifying the experimental data against a second source ensures its accuracy. Besides, our demands are a drop in the bucket for them. They’re unlikely to cancel the trade," Ren Yuanyang replied.
Everyone nodded.
"Boss, so can I get going now?" Qin Haonan grew even more excited.
He’d been thrilled ever since he heard that Dragon Country’s three carrier fleets were coming to overwhelm the Feixiang. Now that he was about to trade with Wang Jun, he seemed even more excited.
"Alright. Xin Wan, take out some rice, crush it, and steam it a bit. When it’s done, have Haonan take it with him," Ren Yuanyang instructed.
"Yes!" Xin Wan replied, turning to do as he asked.
Qin Haonan was slightly taken aback, then immediately waved his hands. "Boss, you don’t have to go through the trouble of crushing it. I can chew it just fine!"
Ren Yuanyang rolled his eyes at him. "It’s not for you!"
"Huh?" Qin Haonan froze.
"After you complete the trade with Wang Jun’s people, you’ll need to shake anyone they have following you. You won’t be able to come back here right away," Ren Yuanyang explained. "And the chickens, rabbits, and pigs you’ll be getting in the trade will need to be fed. Besides the cooked, crushed rice, I want you to chop up the rice straw I just harvested and take it with you. We don’t have any other leafy greens right now, so it’ll have to do."
"What? It’s not for me? That’s heartbreaking! Those little animals aren’t even here yet, and they’re already more important than me!" Qin Haonan gave Ren Yuanyang a deeply mournful look.
"If you’re that heartbroken, then you don’t have to go. We’ll find someone else to make the trade!" Ren Yuanyang said, ready to switch him out at the last minute.
"No! Boss, please don’t! I was wrong. Let me go, please!" Qin Haonan immediately replied with a sheepish grin.
’He knew Ren Yuanyang was just bluffing. Right now, he was the only one on the team suited for this trade.’
’Ren Yuanyang was too important to the team; he had to avoid potential dangers like this. As for the other two women, they were definitely not as sharp as him. At least, that’s what Qin Haonan believed!’
"Since you admit you were wrong, hurry up and get ready!" Ren Yuanyang glared at him. "The straw’s in the shipping container. Go get it and chop it up yourself!"
"Yes, sir!" Qin Haonan replied and immediately dashed out.
"Boss, will Haonan be alright going by himself?" Lu Jiamei asked, a little worried.
She wasn’t just worried about whether he could complete the trade, but also that their location might be exposed afterward.
"It should be fine," Ren Yuanyang replied. "He’s pretty sharp."
The steamed, crushed rice and the chopped straw were ready in no time. Qin Haonan ran over. "Boss, am I good to go?"
Ren Yuanyang was looking at a map on his phone. He looked up and replied, "Even if you could leave now, where would you go?"
Qin Haonan faltered.
"You need to be more composed in the future. Don’t be so impulsive," Ren Yuanyang continued.
"Yes, Boss!" Qin Haonan replied in a serious voice, reining in his excitement.
Ren Yuanyang placed his phone on the table, pointed to the map in the app, and started discussing it with the others.
"Based on the Feixiang’s last known position, Wang Jun’s group likely fought their battle in this area. I’m thinking we set the trade location here."
The spot Ren Yuanyang was pointing to was marked with the number 8!
The others nodded slightly. They all understood why Ren Yuanyang had chosen this spot.
’A future Level 8 wind zone would be devoid of survivors. Choosing a location like that would minimize the risk of interference from other groups.’
"There are a lot of Level 2 wind zones near this location. When the time comes, lead anyone tailing you on a few laps through them," Ren Yuanyang continued.
"No problem!" Qin Haonan nodded seriously, then asked, "Since they’re Level 2 wind zones, I imagine there will be a fair number of survivors, right?"
Ren Yuanyang paused, then nodded and replied, "Theoretically, yes. What are you thinking?"
"Boss, you have a Superpower that accelerates plant evolution, so the more plant species we have, the better. Now that we have some ability to protect ourselves, couldn’t we start trading with other survivors on a small scale?" Qin Haonan proposed. "That way, we could leverage the efforts of other survivors to help us find new plants!"
"Wouldn’t that be dangerous? After all, some survivors may have already awakened as Evolvers, and we don’t know what their powers are..." Lu Jiamei voiced her opposition.
Xin Wan, standing to the side, nodded in agreement.
After a moment of contemplation, Ren Yuanyang said, "I actually think Haonan’s suggestion is feasible. Jiamei, your concerns are valid, too. But right now, the awakened Evolvers aren’t high-level. With the weapons we have, we don’t need to worry about a few individual Evolvers. Of course, we’ll have to be extremely careful about how we go about it."
Qin Haonan nodded slightly. "I understand."
Just then, a message came in for Qin Haonan from Wang Jun.
"We’ve successfully taken the Feixiang. When does our trade begin?"
Ren Yuanyang immediately instructed Qin Haonan to reply, "Congratulations. Now that you’ve taken the Feixiang, is our trade still on?"
"Of course, it is. We made an agreement, and we will honor it," Wang Jun replied, making his stance perfectly clear.
"Good. I’ll send you the location shortly. On your end, get the seeds, chickens, rabbits, and pigs ready, and arrange for a speedboat to deliver them. The trade will be at eight o’clock this morning, and we’ll proceed as previously agreed." Ren Yuanyang, having already guessed they would want to proceed, had Qin Haonan send the reply.
"No problem!" Wang Jun agreed immediately.
Lu Jiamei frowned. "Shouldn’t we wait until Haonan is in position before we send them the location?"
Ren Yuanyang nodded. "Haonan, take the food and set out now. And take plenty!"
"Okay!" Although Qin Haonan was trying to control himself, the slight tremor in his voice betrayed his excitement.
"If anything unusual happens, make sure you contact us immediately," Ren Yuanyang reminded him.
"Got it, Boss!" Qin Haonan replied.
Xin Wan handed him the prepared rations. "Here are some rice balls, and the evolved crocodile jerky the Boss had me prepare for you. Eat it sparingly, and it should last you two or three days, no problem."
"Thanks, Sister Wan! Thanks, Boss!" Qin Haonan accepted it with a smile.
"But don’t be too hard on yourself. No need to suffer for the sake of suffering," Ren Yuanyang reminded him. "As soon as you’ve shaken your tail, you can head straight back."
"Yes, sir!"
