Chapter 143 105: Over the Sea, the Moon Rises with the Tide
'Ding! Document approved. Place in the presidential suite's living room.'
Su Ran understood. This Skill was tailor-made for taking the four women on their trip out to sea tomorrow.
It would be hard for the five of them to really let loose and have fun on the boat with two or three crewmen in the cockpit. That's why this Skill appeared. With no outsiders on their trip tomorrow, they could do whatever they wanted.
"Okay, that's great."
After parking the car and walking into the lobby, a receptionist named Lily came clicking over on her heels to present him with a bouquet. "Mr. Su, we saw your performance, and it was absolutely amazing! These flowers are from all of us at the Maoyue Hotel."
"Thank you, they smell wonderful." Su Ran took a sniff. "Tell the kitchen whatever you'd like for a late-night snack tonight and put it on my tab. Uh…" Su Ran glanced at the long, black-stockinged legs before him and said, "Lily, you have a run in your stocking. I'm heading back to my room now."
Su Ran waited for the elevator, flowers in hand. He glanced back at the front desk and saw the receptionist, Lily. She was sitting there, having taken off her high heels, and was slowly rolling her black stockings down her thighs. With every inch she rolled them down, more of her fair skin was revealed. When she looked up and saw Su Ran watching her, her eyes curved into little crescents as she smiled.
'Of course, a woman would normally be furious if a man was ogling her. If it were some average joe, she might even march right up and call him a creep. But if it's a tall, rich, and handsome guy who meets her standards, then it's not being a creep anymore. It's a wealthy man's validation of her beauty.'
'The look they exchanged said it all. It was one of those unspoken things in the adult world. He wants her body; she wants his status. Su Ran knew Lily was practically begging to be seduced. If he gave her even the slightest signal, she'd get the hint immediately. Before long, she'd find an excuse, like needing to check on the room, to come up to the presidential suite and 'discuss things in depth' with Mr. Su.'
'Looks like the system's slogan was right. The world is a whore who only puts on a show for the rich.'
'It wasn't necessary to throw your weight around just because you were rich. It was just that whatever you wanted, there would be a woman willing to make it happen. You didn't even have to try; plenty of women were lining up to get with you.'
"Lily, I heard you're getting married next week. Congratulations."
With that, he turned and stepped into the elevator. Back at the front desk, Lily froze, completely mortified.
Inside the elevator, Yasuo apologized for Lily's behavior. "My apologies, Mr. Su. I'm sorry you had such an unpleasant experience."
Su Ran smiled. "It's fine. Lily seems like a decent person. Don't give her a hard time, okay?" He was worried the hotel would punish Lily over something so minor.
"Understood." Yasuo nodded. As a senior private butler, he was privy to many of the hotel's little secrets. The girls at the front desk were young and beautiful, all with long legs that made male guests fantasize. Of course, this wasn't the first time something like this had happened. Some girls slept with a guest and were paid off. Others successfully latched on and left to become a rich man's canary, though whether they were eventually abandoned when he grew tired of them was anyone's guess. In any case, while this Mr. Su seemed polite and friendly, Yasuo understood that the man's standards were sky-high. A woman considered a total bombshell by the average person wouldn't even register on his radar. After all, the women he surrounded himself with were all top-tier beauties like Xiao Wanqing, Liu Jinyu, Aina, and Xie Yiren.
"Have some late-night snacks sent up. Singing on stage earlier wore me out."
"Of course, Mr. Su. Right away."
Su Ran returned to the presidential suite and called Lin Che and his other friends. They were still awake, so he invited them up. They all drank and chatted, speaking entirely in their Ninghai dialect.
As they talked, the conversation drifted to their careers. Lin Che and the others had already discussed it and decided to pool what little money they had, take out a loan, and open a bar in Anyang County Town. When Su Ran asked how much the three of them had in savings combined, they put their heads together and came up with the total: fifty thousand.
'A little over ten thousand each, and they want to open a bar? Are they kidding me?'
Su Ran was speechless.
'He thought for a moment. 'Even though they were eliminated from *Trainee*, it wasn't a total loss. At the very least, their band, SJ, had made a name for itself in the bar scene back home. If they went back to play as a house band now, it wouldn't be the small bars that could afford them, but the major ones in the provincial capital, Jiangning.'
'Hmm… I guess the *Trainee* show was a good way to boost their credentials.'
Since they were set on opening a bar back home and now had some fame to their name, business shouldn't be too bad as long as they managed it well. Besides, Lin Che and his friends were bar people through and through; they knew the industry inside and out, they just didn't have the money. An idea struck Su Ran, and he immediately called Old Li from Taxx Bar. He was an old acquaintance of theirs, also from Jiangning. In fact, SJ used to be the house band at Old Li's bar.
Before long, Old Li rushed over. The reunion of so many people from Jiangning here in Shanghai was a lively affair. After hearing Lin Che's idea, Old Li agreed that it was feasible. First off, they had a great hook, and second, Su Ran had money. Su Ran, for his part, was very supportive of his good friends getting into a proper business. It seemed Lin Che and the others had finally had their reality check. Their dreams of becoming pop stars and singers were shattered, and they were ready to return to the practical reality of earning money and building a business.
Su Ran told them to go back, find a venue, and then he would invest, taking a majority stake in the business. Lin Che and his friends agreed immediately, without a second thought. Su Ran didn't just arrogantly throw money at them and tell them to do whatever they wanted. The money itself meant little to him, but he knew that if he did that, there was no guarantee they wouldn't go home and burn through the cash before the bar even opened. Money that comes too easily is spent just as easily.
That was why Su Ran insisted on investing and taking a majority stake—it was mainly to put some pressure on them to work hard, earn money steadily, and eventually be able to get married and support their families. It also served to maintain a balance. After all, Su Ran had seen the movie *American Dreams in China*, and one line from it always rang true: 'Never start a business with your best friends.'
