Chapter 301: Superpower Upgrade
Mrs. Chen chided, "What a silly thing to say. Your wedding is just around the corner; you have to be a beautiful bride."
"Alright, I’ll go get you a straw hat. My fault—I wasn’t thinking when we left earlier," Mrs. Chen said as she turned to leave.
The house was bustling with activity, and folks in the city weren’t idle either.
Today, every family had set up their barbecue stalls.
Gu Erlang, especially, was in high spirits over the joyous occasion. He was outside Gu Fei’s shop, loudly hawking his wares.
Today, Gu Fei was in no mood to think about her second brother stealing her business again. There was only one thing on her mind.
Her superpower had actually up—grad—ed!
In the three years since her superpower had awakened in her past life, it had never been more than a simple storage space.
She had come to believe her superpower was a dud.
But last night, as she lay in bed, she had thought about going into her space to take a look.
After she went in, she immediately felt that something was off.
Previously, only her consciousness would enter the space; the body she used to find things was merely a projection of her mind. But today, the moment she went in, things felt different.
It was the feeling of feet standing firmly on solid ground.
She gave herself a hard pinch. It hurt like crazy.
Then she saw that all the jade she had bought had turned into plain white stones.
And the dense, fog-like Spiritual Energy that had once filled the space had vanished completely.
Gu Fei searched the space carefully and suddenly discovered something: inside the Mutton Fat Jade Treasure Bowl—which had also turned to stone—was a pool of pale, bluish-green liquid.
Gu Fei’s first thought was, ’This is Spiritual Energy turned into liquid!’
She squatted beside the Treasure Basin, staring at it. ’Can I drink this?’
’Will drinking it let me live to be a hundred? Grant me immortality?’
’Or maybe it’s just poison.’
Gu Fei stared for a long time. A powerful, instinctual urge rose within her to drink the liquid.
She dipped her finger in for a taste. It was flavorless, almost like plain water.
But every cell in her body seemed to crave it, screaming, ’Drink it, drink it!’
’Alright, let’s drink it then.’
Gu Fei lifted the Treasure Basin and, in one go, drank most of the liquid, leaving only a small puddle at the bottom of the bowl.
After drinking it, she didn’t feel any different.
Gu Fei couldn’t bring herself to finish the rest. ’If I drink it all, there’ll definitely be no Spiritual Energy left in this space.’
After leaving the space, Gu Fei fell right to sleep.
She had completely forgotten that her original reason for entering the space was to check how much silver was in the pouch from Mr. Xu.
After all, she had been a bit short on cash lately.
When she woke up the next morning, Gu Fei felt something was wrong. Her eyelids were sticky, as if caked shut with sleep.
Prying her eyes open, Gu Fei gasped. The quilt and the bedsheets were covered in foul-smelling, dark brown stains.
Gu Fei couldn’t believe she had slept all night in such filth.
She remembered the Spiritual Liquid from last night. ’Maybe it flushed all the impurities out of my body.’
Right then, all she could think about was rushing to the bathroom for a bath.
When her room was renovated, she had a separate bathroom specially partitioned off.
The thought had barely formed when, in the next second, Gu Fei found herself standing in the bathroom.
’What’s happening to me?’
’A hallucination?’
She reached out and touched the bathroom wall. It was solid; she could feel the texture of the wooden planks under her fingers.
An idea suddenly struck her. She thought of her bedroom, and instantly, she was standing in it.
Gu Fei was so excited she wanted to throw her head back and roar. ’Instant Teleportation!’
’This is Instant Teleportation!’
