Chapter 30: Twilight God
Samminah continuously controlled her Moonlight Blades from the side.
The crescent-shaped blades flashed repeatedly across the battlefield, instantly beheading every Black Guardian or Dark Warden that crossed its path.
However, because of their endless numbers, each Moonlight Blade would eventually dissipate after cutting through too many enemies.
Because of this, Samminah began to feel even more pressured, her expression growing increasingly grim.
Earlier, there had only been Five Dark Wardens.
Now, despite Samminah slaughtering them relentlessly, their numbers had already reached twenty.
Really... An inheritance belonging to a god was not something that could be obtained without proper preparation.
She sighed helplessly.
Had she waited for the artifacts that were supposed to be delivered to them, their current situation wouldn’t be as dire.
She didn’t prepare a weapon for herself either. None of the available weapons in the village suited her tastes, and she believed that, those weapon would only hold her back.
In the end, she could only rely on leveling up.
Had she not already reached Level Twenty, their situation would’ve become far more dangerous.
Abruptly, she waved her hand and conjured six Moonlight Blades.
Each one was wrapped in Moon Luminesce.
"How long can you keep this up?"
Samminah’s voice suddenly echoed in Ryven’s ears.
He glanced toward Fred.
His situation wasn’t too bad. Only a few scratches could be seen on his bones.
Fred possessed a trait that greatly enhanced his durability, that was from a Second-Stage Abomination that specialized in defense.
As for Ryven himself, his condition was neither good nor terrible.
He could still keep fighting, but if this battle dragged on much longer, he wouldn’t be able to maintain the pace.
"We can hold on for about twenty more minutes. Anything beyond that, I’ll fail to hold my ground."
Ryven answered between heavy breaths.
Samminah felt slightly relieved after hearing that.
The number of enemies was simply too overwhelming. Eliminating all of them was impossible.
"Save as much stamina as you can. We’re retreating." Samminah immediately made her decision.
Upon hearing that, Ryven wasn’t surprised in the slightest.
He had already noticed how unfavorable their situation was.
If they became completely exhausted, escaping would be impossible. Retreating now was their best option. It had taken them hours to travel this deep into the cavern.
Even if they ran at full speed, it would still take roughly an hour to get out.
"Fred, let’s leave this place."
Ryven spoke between heavy gasps, sweat covering his face.
After saying that, the three immediately started running toward the opposite end of the cavern.
However, as they retreated, something bizarre occurred.
Rumble!
The entire cavern suddenly began to shake violently.
One by one, the torches lining the walls extinguished immediately obscuring their vision with endless darkness.
Ryven’s heart sank.
An overwhelming sense of dread washed over him. By far, this was the most dangerous situation he had experienced
[Host had discovered an inheritance of the Twilight God!!!]
[Host would undergo a Trial!]
Although Ryven heard the system notification, he wasn’t able to read what it said as the ground suddenly began to crumble beneath them.
As for Samminah, her expression became even more composed.
Strangely, despite the dire situation, her mind grew clearer instead of getting swallowed by despair.
Thoughts moved through her head like lightning as she searched for a way out.
Subconsciously she bite her fingertips. A few seconds later, she came to a conclusion.
There was no way out.
Behind her, the ground continued collapsing into a bottomless darkness.
However, when her gaze landed on Ryven, her eyes suddenly lit up as if she had realized something.
At that point, she no longer resisted and allowed herself to be swallowed by the collapsing ground.
As they fell, dizziness overwhelmed her and her vision gradually faded to black.
...
For a brief moment, Samminah felt as if she had fallen into a deep slumber.
Slowly opening her eyes, she found herself standing within an endless white space.
There was nothing around her. No sky, no ground, and not even the sound of wind. The only thing she could hear was her own breath.
Anyone placed here would have been confused. However, Samminah possessed far more knowledge than ordinary person.
Almost instantly as she arrived at this place, she understood where she was.
Hmm... This place truly never ceases to fascinate me. Under thick purple veil mask, a faint smile subconsciously crept onto her lips.
Looking around, she was almost certain she had entered the domain of someone who had reached godhood.
Having once become a goddess herself, she was naturally familiar with domains.
"Whose domain is this...?" She asked calmly.
"If you’re watching me, it would be appropriate to show yourself."
She said without the slightest hint of pressure.
The reason of her calmness was that, if the owner of this domain truly wished to kill them, there would’ve been no need for such elaborate methods.
"Oh~?"
A voice suddenly echoed throughout the endless white world.
"Interesting."
"What’s your origin? How does a mere mortal know about domains?"
Samminah didn’t answer. Her expression remained completely indifferent, revealing nothing that could allow the God before her to deduce any information about her.
Instead, she redirected the conversation.
"Why am I here?"
As she said that, in front of her a child manifested, it didn’t have a face not anything it was simply a body filled with whiteness, without the dark outlines in it’s body the child wouldn’t be visible at all.
"Hmm~ yes right, you’re here because you’ve passed the test. As you understand this is an inheritance."
"Right now what you see, is merely remnant of myself, you could I’m a will of my original self, this domain is also merely a remnant and a will."
The voice resounded throughout the domain.
Face with this current situation, Samminah couldn’t help but be apprehensive.
"What do you mean I passed?" She asked once more, at any rate an inheritance of an evil God is isn’t something to be easily obtained.
There would be a trial, which what she saw in Ryven’s system notification.
But, right now, the creator of the inheritance was telling him, that she had already passed.
"To be precise, the trial is about the trial of mind. From what I’ve observed, your mind is already perfect, you don’t have any traumatic event, nor have a deepest fear at anything and also without any regrets."
"Neither that Skeleton that doesn’t have it consciousness yet."
"Basically the two of you had passed."
As he said so, a image manifested out of thin air.
The image depicted their bodies laid on the ground. Fred was the only one standing up in confusion as it scratched the back its head.
The place was like a grand hall, she observed carefully making sure that there’s no threat that could harm her body.
"Hmm... So does that mean that Ryven is the only one that will be in the trial?"
"Correct! However, if he was consumed to the process of it, his mind would’ve most likely turned to vegetative state."
After saying that, the Twilight God began to smile eerily, as a mouth manifested without her notice.
"Still, that doesn’t answer my question... What’s your intention from making me talk to you here?" She asked cautiously.
Talking to someone that reached godhood, they wouldn’t act kindly especially from an evil God.
Right now, she was on her guard, the God before him was surely planning something.
"Hmm~ I guess there’s no hiding it from you. To be honest this inheritance was here for countless centuries, and not until now did the requirements had met."
"You see, for the cave to manifest, someone with a system above S-Class Rank and someone without a fate must both be present. Only then will the cave appear."
"Now, my intentions is to guide the three of you in a way to leave from this place."
"If the inheritance was smoothly passed, you would get a rose, after that throw it to the huge pit within the north."
"Meanwhile, to fully free this place, you will also need to go the two other caves. If you pass the trial you will get the two flower and by repeating what you’ve done."
As he said that, it sounded to good to be true.
If any person in the Reinett Village, encounter this.
They would’ve been tempted and obeyed what he said. However, Samminah still calmly listened waiting for a loophole or strange words that might slipped up.
To her perspective, such kindness of someone coming from an evil God was simply too good to be true.
She is a former goddess who reached godhood, deceiving her would not be easy, especially with her countless of experience.
"Here’s the problem, the other two caves was not within my control. My other will emotions was there."
"Sadness and Wrath, if you met sadness then, if you made eye contact within him, then your body will dissipate. While, if you meet wrath, you will be instantly obliterated."
Suddenly the twilight God, stretched something from its hand.
It was a pill, the pill was only palm sized which is colored black. Although it was colored black one could feel how pure it was.
It was as if by swallowing it any impurities from the mind, soul and body of the person, would be cleansed.
"If you wish to leave the inheritance..."
"Simply give this to that boy. Additionally, once he consumes it, he will be recognized by my other two selves. If he proves capable, he will be allowed to undertake the trials of my other two emotions."
At that moment, her expression became curious and interested, with a hint of temptation.
While, on the other hand, her mind was in a state of shock.
This... It’s definitely a piece of his body... So that’s it!
She sighed inwardly, everything was now within her control, without a doubt she understood what’s the Twilight God true intentions.
If she let him eat this pill, then undoubtedly, Ryven would become his vessel for revival.
...
Within a mysterious black space, a house slowly manifested.
The house was in a terrible state. Countless holes was in the ceiling, while rust could be seen almost everywhere.
Trash and empty alcohol bottles were scattered throughout the living room.
It was Ryven, back from the darkest moment of his life.
Die!
Die!
Just f*cking die!
His mother’s voice echoed throughout the house.
With a baseball bat in her hand, she repeatedly struck him as kicks rained down on his small body.
Curled up on the floor, the child could only endure the pain while protecting his head with both arms.
