Chapter 597: I Don't Easily Accept Disciples
Chapter 597: Chapter 595: I Don’t Easily Accept Disciples
The Junior Tutors of the Celestial Blade Institute present were all disdainful of Luo Tian’s “arrogance.”
‘Anyone can talk big. If Master Luo’s guidance turns out to be complete nonsense, he’ll be the only one losing face!’
Tutor Hu Chao stared blankly at Luo Tian. ‘This kid is even better at posturing than I am.’
If he didn’t know Luo Tian’s background, he might have actually believed him.
“Master Luo, if you don’t handle this well, you won’t just lose face. You’ll also offend these senior mentors,” Hu Chao said in a low voice.
If Luo Tian made a fool of himself, his reputation would worsen. Coupled with the other mentors ostracizing him, he would surely be unable to make it here and would have to pack his bags and leave.
“Don’t worry.”
Luo Tian smiled calmly and walked forward.
Just as he was about to begin his instruction.
“Hold it!”
A loud voice suddenly rang out.
“Instructor Liu Lu?”
“Isn’t Instructor Liu Lu an Elite Junior Tutor from the War Martial Institute? What’s he doing here?”
Some of the surrounding students and mentors began to murmur.
‘It’s that guy!’
Luo Tian’s expression darkened.
The newcomer was none other than the Master Liu who had targeted him at every turn and deliberately tried to sabotage him before.
“Master Liu, this is the Celestial Blade Institute. What are you doing here?” the white-bearded old man demanded coldly.
“There is a prodigy here begging for guidance from an outstanding mentor. Naturally, I’m here to lend him a hand,” Instructor Liu Lu said with a smile.
“There’s no need,” Luo Tian said coldly.
Master Liu was here to steal his student. How could Luo Tian possibly be pleasant to him?
“Heh heh, I think it’s very necessary. As a teacher, how can I just stand by and watch such an outstanding student be ruined by an incapable mentor?” Liu Lu chuckled sarcastically.
He had already planned to come and poach the talented student. He just hadn’t expected the new Master Luo to also have his eyes on Guan Hongfei. It was laughable.
So many veteran mentors from the Celestial Blade Institute had been helpless.
‘Doesn’t Luo Tian have any self-awareness?’
‘Perfect. I’ll just have to teach this new mentor a lesson myself.’
“Liu Lu, what nonsense are you spouting?”
“Take back what you just said, or don’t blame us for getting rough.”
Several old mentors from the Celestial Blade Institute rebuked him, their faces full of displeasure.
Liu Lu’s words were actually aimed at Luo Tian, but he had unintentionally managed to offend everyone else in the process.
“The Wuji Saint Institute has a rule that allows students to change their institute choice once after their initial selection. Furthermore, the Saint Institute encourages healthy competition between mentors. It seems I haven’t broken any rules.”
Liu Lu gave a light chuckle, completely unconcerned by the threats from the Celestial Blade Institute’s old mentors.
The senior mentors’ faces darkened, and they said nothing.
Liu Lu indeed hadn’t broken any rules, but his actions were tantamount to slapping the faces of all the Celestial Blade Institute mentors.
If he managed to poach Guan Hongfei, what face would the Celestial Blade Institute mentors have left?
“Of course, if there’s a mentor in the Celestial Blade Institute who can take Guan Hongfei as a student, I won’t say a thing. The key question is, does the Celestial Blade Institute have one?” Liu Lu spoke with unrestrained arrogance.
But as it happened, none of the mentors from the Celestial Blade Institute could refute him.
They had all given their guidance, and none had met Guan Hongfei’s requirements.
The mentors who hadn’t tried were basically the ones who weren’t confident. Then there were the two new mentors, Hu Chao and Luo Tian. They would surely fail as well.
“We do!” Luo Tian stated calmly.
“HAHAHA, it’s a good thing that Master Luo is so confident. Why don’t we make a bet?”
Liu Lu laughed, a playful look on his face.
Luo Tian was being so tactless. He decided to teach him a harsh lesson.
“What’s the bet?”
“You and I will both give Student Guan guidance. Whoever can improve the power of his Martial Skill more, wins! Do you dare?” Liu Lu said, full of confidence.
‘Even if I can’t meet Guan Hongfei’s requirements, isn’t beating Luo Tian a piece of cake?’
“If I win, Master Luo will have to pack his bags and leave,” Liu Lu stated the stakes.
The other mentors from the Celestial Blade Institute didn’t intervene. If Luo Tian lost this bet, it wouldn’t affect them at all.
“And if I win?” Luo Tian retorted.
Liu Lu sneered. ‘Luo Tian really is a fool.’
“What stakes do you want?” Liu Lu asked.
“If I win, you’ll let me pick any one student from your class!”
In reality, Luo Tian could have also proposed that Liu Lu pack his bags and leave.
But that wouldn’t do Luo Tian any good.
As an Elite Junior Tutor of the War Martial Institute, Liu Lu had many outstanding students.
Poaching a talented student from Liu Lu was a much better deal, and it would also embarrass and infuriate him.
“Fine.”
Liu Lu agreed without a second thought.
‘Me, lose to Luo Tian? That’s completely absurd!’
Liu Lu was a candidate to become a Middle Level Tutor. He had failed the promotion assessment this time, but he would definitely succeed next time!
The bet was on!
A new mentor from the Celestial Blade Institute betting against an elite mentor from the War Martial Institute attracted quite a few onlookers.
“Sigh, this Master Luo certainly has guts, but it’s useless if he can’t win!”
Although the Celestial Blade Institute’s mentors didn’t like Luo Tian, they were even more against Instructor Liu Lu winning and poaching their talented student.
“A bet he’s guaranteed to lose! He’s just embarrassing the Celestial Blade Institute!” the sallow-faced old woman snapped, her expression grim.
“Guan Hongfei, could you demonstrate your Sword Technique one more time?” Liu Lu said with a smile.
“I can.”
Guan Hongfei nodded and immediately began his demonstration.
The corners of Liu Lu’s mouth curled up slightly.
In fact, he had been eyeing this talented student for a long time.
Just a moment ago, Liu Lu had sent someone to observe Guan Hongfei’s demonstration and report back to him.
It could be said that Liu Lu was already capable of giving Guan Hongfei guidance, he just wasn’t completely confident.
With Guan Hongfei demonstrating it again, Liu Lu was more than eighty percent confident he could win this prodigy over.
“Master Luo, this is a good chance for you to watch it one more time. Don’t be a sore loser when the time comes,” Liu Lu said with a smirk.
This time, he wanted a clean win. He wanted to crush Luo Tian completely.
“No need. I wouldn’t want Master Liu to claim it was unfair when he loses.”
Luo Tian suddenly turned his back on Guan Hongfei!
This action stunned the audience, and even Guan Hongfei was a little surprised.
The mentors of the Celestial Blade Institute, however, were fuming.
‘He’s not taking an advantage when it’s offered. Is he an idiot?!’
A short while later.
Guan Hongfei finished demonstrating the Sword Technique for the second time.
After pondering for a moment, Liu Lu gave his guidance. “There are four points in total. Make the following adjustments as I say…”
After hearing the four points Liu Lu laid out, the Celestial Blade Institute mentors present also pondered them deeply and nodded involuntarily.
SWISH! SWISH! HISS!
After comprehending the advice, Guan Hongfei performed the technique according to Instructor Liu Lu’s instructions!
His sword struck the stone pillar!
A burst of white light erupted!
“What a huge improvement!”
“It’s just a little bit shy of a thirty percent increase!”
Gasps of astonishment came from all around!
The Celestial Blade Institute mentors looked shocked, then their expressions all darkened!
‘It’s over!’
Liu Lu’s ability was actually this strong. Even the few veteran mentors among them had been outdone!
Although the improvement in the swordsmanship hadn’t reached thirty percent, it was extremely close. There was a high chance Guan Hongfei would choose to transfer institutes and take Liu Lu as his teacher.
The next moment.
The Celestial Blade Institute mentors looked at Luo Tian, but they all sighed.
‘There’s no hope.’
“Master Luo, it’s your turn,” Liu Lu said with a smile.
Luo Tian slowly turned around, fixed his gaze on Guan Hongfei, and said, “Your Sword Technique’s skill should be the result of cultivating other auxiliary Sword Dao Secret Skills to reach this level!”
The mentors looked thoughtful. No one had pointed this out before.
Guan Hongfei’s gaze sharpened, and he nodded.
“Master Luo, enough with the nonsense. Hurry up and give your guidance,” Liu Lu snapped impatiently.
“Your Sword Technique just now overly pursued technique to the point of being flashy but impractical… Now, cut out the third and sixth movements…”
Luo Tian gave extremely detailed guidance.
To be safe, Luo Tian had used the power of the Celestial Book to perfect his Inference.
As long as Guan Hongfei’s Comprehension wasn’t poor.
Luo Tian could already foresee the final result.
Guan Hongfei frowned in deep thought.
Luo Tian’s guidance was extensive, and the changes to the technique were significant. He needed to think it over and comprehend them carefully.
Twenty breaths later!
Guan Hongfei began to practice the swordsmanship. It was largely the same as the previous Sword Technique, but the feeling it gave off was completely different. Every slash was filled with a cold, murderous aura!
HISS!
One slash hit the stone pillar.
A pillar of light erupted from the top of the stone pillar, its height and brilliance surpassing all previous attempts, reaching a new Peak!
“Is that… a fifty percent increase in the Sword Technique’s power?”
“Fifty percent? Am I seeing things?”
Waves of disbelieving voices suddenly rose from the crowd!
The mentors present also found it hard to believe!
Compared to their earlier guidance, Luo Tian’s was simply divine!
Even for a normal technique, it would be extremely difficult to increase its power by so much in such a short time!
What’s more, Guan Hongfei’s Sword Dao was profound and obscure.
‘How did Luo Tian do it?’
Guan Hongfei stood rooted to the spot, looking at the result with a thrill of excitement!
He had finally found the most suitable mentor for him!
“This is impossible! This… it’s fake!” Liu Lu shouted.
‘How could I lose to Luo Tian?’
He couldn’t figure it out at all! It was incomprehensible!
“Master Liu, this is the Celestial Blade Institute! If you want to cause a scene, go back to your War Martial Institute and do it there!” the white-bearded old man yelled.
Although he also found the result hard to believe, at least Guan Hongfei would be staying in the Celestial Blade Institute, which was far better than him transferring to the War Martial Institute.
Liu Lu didn’t say another word and scurried away with his tail between his legs.
“Mentor, please accept this student’s bow!”
Guan Hongfei knelt on the spot, wanting to take Luo Tian as his teacher.
Luo Tian said unhurriedly, “This mentor doesn’t take students lightly. Unless you are uncarved jade or fated to be with me, it’s impossible to take me as your teacher…”
“Ahem, ahem…”
This speech made the other Celestial Blade Institute mentors around him cough repeatedly.
‘If you don’t want him, we’ll take him.’
“…”
Tutor Hu Chao was also quite speechless.
If he wasn’t so familiar with Luo Tian’s situation, he might have actually believed his words.
But Hu Chao was genuinely shocked. The talented student that all the mentors had been fighting over had actually ended up in Luo Tian’s hands.
“Seeing how sincere you are, and that we are indeed fated, I will accept you.”
Luo Tian smiled.
“Thank you, Teacher!”
Guan Hongfei bowed once more, then stood up and walked into Luo Tian’s classroom.
“Hmm?”
“Teacher? Are all your other students in secluded Cultivation?”
Guan Hongfei looked at the empty classroom, stunned for a moment, and asked.
