Chapter 18: Sister’s Story
Harley led us through the city to a place where we could travel to deeper parts without walking the entire way.
The Drakin Station had many large, draconic, wolf-shaped beasts with carriages strapped to their backs.
They had four large muscular legs and large feet that let them dash through the tunnels of the city quickly.
We got in line and soon climbed aboard.
“Where’re we headed, ladies?” The driver asked us. He sat in a saddle on the drakin’s thick, muscular neck.
“West Gar District, please,” Harley replied, handing him our ticket.
“Right away,” he said. “Keep all limbs inside the carriage, please. We’re not responsible for your mistakes.”
He grinned and tapped the drakin’s head, and we were off.
The four-legged draconic relative raced through the tunnels, slowing down and stopping as we approached intersections where other drakin were moving through.
The trip took around ten minutes, which was incredibly fast considering we were crossing a huge distance through the city.
We soon made it to our destination and got out of the carriage before stepping out into this part of the city.
There were a lot more dragons in this area, although they stayed off the small paths meant for the humanoid races.
After about five more minutes of walking, Harley led us to a rather sizable house. She walked up to the small door and knocked three times.
She waited for a couple of seconds before the door swung open, a tall woman standing in the doorway, holding the door open.
She had long golden hair, long curved horns, and golden scales scattered across her body. A large, scaly tail sprouted from above her butt.
“Harley!” She exclaimed, wrapping her arms around my armored partner.
“Hi, mama,” Harley mumbled, hugging her mother, Ferminia, back. “It’s nice to see you.”
“Come inside, come inside,” The dragon said, stepping back. The three of us went inside the house and found a place to sit down.
Once we were all comfortable, Ferminia asked, “So, to what do I owe the pleasure?”
“I wanted you to meet my partners,” Harley replied as she took off her armor, setting the pieces on the floor nearby. “This is Coraline and Flint.”
“Partners, hmm?” Ferminia grinned. “My my, Harley.” She chuckled as Harley glared at her. “I know what you mean.” She leaned back on the large, cushiony chair she was sitting in. “So. How did you meet?”
“We met at a group quest,” Harlet said. “It was a subjugation of a monster band.” She glanced at us before continuing. “I was in trouble, and they saved me.” Her cheeks reddened as she spoke, and her gaze dropped.
She was embarrassed about how we met because of a part of dragon culture. One of the ways that dragons expressed love was by helping their partners with a task.
Being very prideful beings, dragons usually preferred to do things on their own. Helping another dragon was showing that you loved them enough to help them, and accepting help usually meant accepting the love.
Harley had been fighting a large group of goblins, hobgoblins, and orcs, and had been handling them fine. However, when two ogres showed up, things had taken a turn for the worse.
A lot of her armor was broken, and she was low on MP and HP when Flint and I, who had been working together for a couple of weeks at that point, stumbled upon her and helped out.
She had latched onto us, and we quickly became a party of three. Harley hadn’t really spoken much at first, but eventually we grew close. I had started to fall for both of them, so one night I had brought up my feelings.
As it turned out, Flint and Harley were also falling for me and each other, so we all became girlfriends.
After a couple more months of adventuring together, we took another step and got engaged. Now, we were going to each of our parents to tell them about it. We had started with Flint’s parents, and then travelled here to talk to Harley’s moms before we would head back to my hometown.
After Harley had explained the very basics of the situation to her mother, she went silent and looked down.
“Well,” Ferminia said. “These two ladies seem lovely. I don’t see anything wrong with it.” She smiled and walked over to Harley before pulling her daughter into a hug. “I’m proud of you.”
I smiled as Harley was set back down and hugged her, too.
“Thanks, mom,” She mumbled, blushing. “Um, when’s Syllika going to come home?” She asked.
“Tomorrow morning,” Ferminia replied. “You all can sleep here tonight.”
“Thank you,” I said, smiling. Harley’s mom smiled back.
“Of course.”
…
-Ariana-
“Wow,” I said. “That’s a cool story.”
“Thank you,” Cora grinned. “Is Mom home right now?”
“I don’t think so,” I told her. “She left early today, and I think she said she’s staying until noon.”
“Ah,” Cora said. “Oh, well.” We walked up to the gates I had seen her from, and I waved to the guards.
“Welcome back,” one of them said to Cora. “You’ve been gone for a while, huh?”
“Two years,” she told him. “It’s nice to be back.” She nodded toward Flint and Harley and added, “They’re my party members.” The two of them showed their Adventurer’s Guild cards, and the guard waved us through.
Once we were truly inside, Cora stretched and took a deep breath.
“It’s good to be home,” She said.
