Chapter 356: Flooded her mind
As always, Alana was the first to fall asleep.
By the time she truly woke up, it was already noon.
As she woke, the memories of last night’s events flooded her mind. She clutched the blanket in embarrassment and kicked her legs wildly.
She’d been so bold… how dare she do that to Stephan?
But judging by his expression, he seemed to really enjoy it.
He even complimented her on her talent.
Alana couldn’t help but rub her cheeks; she still felt a bit flushed.
It seemed this sort of thing wasn’t something to do too often.
Alana lay in bed for a while, reflecting on what had happened.
When she checked her phone, messages from Eve piqued her interest.
Eve: [How did it go?]
[Did you try the method I told you about last night?]
Alana: [Yes]
Eve: [Took you this long to reply? Looks like you were kept up pretty late last night.]
Alana: [So tired.]
Eve: [Tired, but you did it, right?]
Alana: [Yes… please don’t ask me more]
Eve: [Are you coming over tonight? I’ve got some new tricks up my sleeve.]
Alana: [No, I’ll pass. I need to rest.]
Eve: [Poor thing. Get some rest. I won’t bother you anymore.]
Alana sighed and got out of bed, her back and waist aching.
Her whole body was covered in marks.
She glanced down and blushed deeply.
Her mind was filled with images of the man kissing every inch of her body.
She picked up her phone and sent him a message without hesitation.
[Stephan, you must be a dog in a past life, I’m covered from head to toe in your marks.]
Stephan: [Hah, don’t blame me. You’re just too sweet and soft… I can’t get enough of you.]
Alana huffed: [I’m not coming over tonight. I’m taking a couple of days off.]
Stephan: [Mm, I get it. Taking a couple of days off to save up for a big move, huh? I’m really looking forward to it.]
She pouted. He was overthinking it.
[It’s the weekend tomorrow. Are we going to meet your parents?]
Stephan: [Yeah. Are you ready? If you are, we’ll head out first thing tomorrow morning.]
Alana: [If I say I’m not ready and I’m really nervous, how would you handle it?]
Stephan: [Simple, I’ll just tie you up and take you there!]
Alana couldn’t help but laugh. [You rascal!]
Stephan: [Bad guys are all about picking on soft, cute little bunnies.]
Alana blushed and shyly replied, “You can only bully this little white rabbit.”
Stephan laughed. [Fine, but you can only be bullied by me, this big bad wolf.]
Stephan: [Get some good rest and recharge. My parents are really looking forward to meeting you.]
Alana: [Okay.]
Tomorrow she would officially meet Stephan’s parents, and Alana felt both excited and nervous.
Although she knew Stephan’s parents wouldn’t give her a hard time, her heart was still pounding with nervousness, she didn’t know why.
She got up, had breakfast, and went to the hospital to visit her grandmother, intending to tell her about this.
Her grandmother would probably be happy to hear the news.
When she arrived at her grandmother’s hospital room, she happened to see Miranda and Joan relentlessly grilling her grandmother about the location of the property deed for their rural home, and even about the cash and jewelry she had on her person.
Her grandmother kept her lips tightly sealed, refusing to say a single word.
Moreover, her grandmother didn’t look well; she was clearly furious at the mother-daughter duo’s shamelessness.
Alana frowned and immediately stepped in to stop them. “What are you doing? Grandma is sick and needs to rest. Please don’t disturb her here, okay?”
This mother and daughter had come to the capital claiming they were here to take care of Grandma, but in reality, they were inconsistent, they hadn’t even visited her a few times.
Every time they came, they’d stay in the hospital room for just a short while before leaving.
Lately, however, every time they came, they’d be decked out in more jewelry and gold, wearing designer clothes worth hundreds of thousands or even millions.
Miranda had been pestering the old woman about the property deed, but the old woman wouldn’t say a word, infuriating Miranda so much she felt like ripping the old woman’s oxygen mask off.
The moment she saw Alana, she immediately said, “Lana, you’re just in time. I need to discuss something with you.”
Alana frowned. “What is it?”
Miranda spoke up, “That shameless bitch of a mother of yours is actually asking for the moon… she wants me to give her tens of millions. Go beg her right now and tell her not to be so ruthless!”
Grandma heard this and laughed in exasperation. “Lana, don’t worry about your aunt. Over the past decade or so, she’s swindled tens of millions from your mom and hasn’t given us a single penny. She’s decked out in gold and silver every day, buying cars and houses, living the high life, while making your life a misery. What gives her the right to demand with such a straight face that you beg your mom not to be so ruthless?”
Yesterday, the two of them, mother and daughter, suddenly showed up, showering her with concern, serving tea and water, and acting incredibly kind.
She thought they’d had a change of heart and were finally being decent, but she never expected that just a few minutes later, they’d start asking about her property deeds and personal assets.
When she refused to tell them, they started throwing a tantrum and acting shamelessly. They’d asked her about these things before, but never with such brazen audacity.
She sensed something was off, so she pressed Miranda for answers and finally got the truth out of her.
It turned out that for the past decade or so, Agnes had been sending 100,000 dollars to Alana every month, 100,000 dollars intended for her as Alana’s guardian… but all of that money had been embezzled by Miranda’s family.
Now that Agnes had discovered this and demanded repayment, they couldn’t come up with that much money, so they set their sights on her assets.
When she learned of this, she was so furious.
She simply couldn’t understand how such selfish, self-serving scoundrels could exist in this world!
Thinking back to several years ago, when Miranda took Alana into her home, she had assumed it was out of kindness, to give Alana a better life.
Little did she know that Alana was being taken there to work like a slave for their family, doing all the dirty and backbreaking work.
After learning of this, she was so furious that she stormed straight to Miranda’s house and brought Alana back to her.
Who would have thought that Miranda, having taken so much money from Agnes, would still abuse Alana like this? She was worse than an animal!
Alana looked at Miranda. “Auntie, you’ve really opened my eyes.”
She never would have thought Agnes was telling the truth, she really had been sending her that much money every month.
However, not a single penny of that money ever reached her; it all went straight into Miranda’s family’s pockets.
