Chapter 218: On Sale
"I-I-I, I’m Seventh Rank! I was stuck at Sixth Rank for two years! I’m finally Seventh Rank! I’m finally Seventh Rank!"
The tall woman was so excited she was babbling incoherently, but everyone around her heard her loud and clear.
A reward that raises you a whole rank? That’s insane!
You had to understand, cultivation was incredibly difficult for everyone. From the First to Fifth Ranks, you could still absorb energy from Crystal Cores to help you advance.
From the Sixth Rank onward, it was purely based on one’s own talent, comprehension, and hard work. Some people were stuck at the Fifth Rank for their entire lives.
The surrounding customers cast envious glances her way and quickened the pace of their scratching.
’Useless hands, scratch faster!’
’Look at her! She got such a great prize!’
Lily Hart nodded affirmatively. "That’s right, Seventh Rank. Congrats~"
She casually picked up a yellow candy from a small dish nearby and handed it to the woman.
The tall woman’s eyes flared with greed, but she quickly concealed it, turned sideways, and squeezed out of the massive crowd.
Despite it being less than two months since the apocalypse began, Lily Hart’s mindset had already undergone a monumental change.
Before, when she saw Frost Shaw scratch off too many good prizes, she would grumble to herself a bit. Now, she just hoped everyone could win rewards that were beneficial to them.
In any case, she was still making every cent she was supposed to.
Evening arrived quickly. No one else came looking for trouble, perhaps because the previous provocations had made them understand...
Boss Hart was not to be trifled with; you couldn’t even get close to her.
Near dinnertime, Logan Holland sent a message. "The new applet has already been spread throughout the base, and I’ve done my best to circulate the news about the fruit and vegetable sale starting at ten tomorrow morning."
Lily Hart nodded in satisfaction.
’More people need to use the online supermarket applet.’
’That’s the real blessing!’
Even if the prices on it were a bit high, they were still much cheaper than at the exchange office!
The next day arrived in the blink of an eye. Lily Hart met up with Stan Sterling, and the two of them went to the small vegetable patch behind the hotel.
Each armed with a small hoe, Lily Hart waved her little hand and declared, "Let’s get to it!"
First, they picked everything that was ready, like the apples, peaches, and pears growing on the trees.
They picked them and set them aside to be counted later, then moved on to harvesting the watermelons, eggplants, pumpkins, and so on...
The workload was considerable. When Frost Shaw and the others woke up, they all came to help, but the vegetable patch was too small and the crops were too dense, leaving no room to even step.
Everyone stood at the edge, stretching as far as they could. Once they picked something, they passed it back.
Many hands make light work. Before 9:30, everything in the small vegetable patch that was ripe and ready to be picked had been moved into Lily Hart’s space.
The group then relocated to the RV’s storage room, where she emptied out all the fruits and vegetables from her space at once.
A rich medley of fruity aromas filled the room, and everyone couldn’t help but feel a little intoxicated by it. It smelled so good...
"Alright, everyone, let’s sort and count." Lily Hart called out, rousing the few who were lost in the aroma.
Each person claimed an item and obediently sorted and counted. Before 9:50, small mountains had formed in the storage room.
A mountain of apples, a mountain of pears, a mountain of watermelons...
Frost Shaw recorded all of them into the warehouse—a sort of pocket dimension. As long as someone placed an order in the online supermarket,
the system would automatically sort the ordered items from the warehouse and deliver them to their door.
It was just that magical.
At 9:59, in the online supermarket applet, the stock for the "Fruits & Vegetables" category was completely refreshed.
The customers outside the lottery shop also stopped scratching their tickets, their eyes glued to their Light Brains.
In Central Command, Rose Rhodes, Elder Shaw, Alex Shaw, and even those from the direct bloodline of the Mysterious Clan were all staring at the countdown on the applet.
For this flash sale, Lily Hart hadn’t notified the people in Gilden City or Rodington City through the group chat.
There were too many people and not enough to go around... Once the vegetable patch was expanded and production increased, she would tell more people.
Ten, nine, eight, seven...
Lily Hart and the others were still lounging on the sofa when they heard bursts of cheers from outside.
"I managed to grab an apple!"
"AHHH! I got a watermelon!"
"I didn’t get anything! It was gone in a second! What kind of reflexes do you people have?!"
"I didn’t get anything either. I suspect there wasn’t any stock to begin with!"
"I suspect that too! The moment I tapped in, it was all gone!"
Some were happy, others were sad.
Elder Shaw’s eyes crinkled into a smile as he looked at the large watermelon that had appeared before him. ’If only Fred were here,’ he thought. ’Kids definitely love watermelon.’
...
Alex Shaw angrily threw his Light Brain, but the movement tugged at his injuries, sending a pain that bored deep into his bones.
A nurse came forward to ask about his condition, only to be kicked away as Alex Shaw unleashed a torrent of curses.
...
Rose Rhodes looked at the "Sold Out in Seconds" page and couldn’t help but give a bitter smile. ’Useless Light Brain, failing me at the crucial moment!’
...
Outside the lottery shop, the customers who hadn’t managed to buy anything crowded around Lily Hart. "Boss Hart, when’s the next flash sale?!"
Lily Hart looked troubled. "There won’t be another one for a while."
After all, they had just done a major harvest today; the little vegetable patch needed a few days to recover.
The customers let out wails of despair. "What? I didn’t get anything this time! Please, Boss Hart!"
"Really! Seeing other people get stuff when I didn’t! I’m dying of frustration!"
"We’re so jealous! Someone even got a watermelon! It was bigger than my head!"
Pairs of pitiful eyes fell upon Lily Hart. Looking at them, she felt a mix of amusement and heartache.
She could only try to console them. "We’ll do our best, really~ You have to give us some time. We’re not gods, after all. We can’t just perform some Magic and WHIZ, pull them out of thin air, right?"
But in the eyes of these customers, Lily Hart was no different from a god.
She could produce thousands of fruits with a wave of her hand and had opened a lottery shop where you could win anything!
If that wasn’t a god, what was? Even gods weren’t as amazing as Boss Hart!
Stan Sterling quietly slipped out of the RV and went alone to the small vegetable patch behind the hotel.
Half an hour ago, it had been picked clean. But now, the trees were already full of small fruits again.
Even the vines on the ground had begun to flower and bear fruit, though they were not yet as big as his fist.
At this growth rate, he estimated they would be ripe by tomorrow.
He had previously discovered that the growth rate of this vegetable patch was astonishing and had even conducted a small, crude experiment.
For example, he would pick a watermelon one day, and when he checked the next, another one had already grown in its place.
The stripes were different from yesterday’s watermelon; it was a completely new one. They were growing every single day.
But the length of the vines on the ground had already reached its limit. Although the fruit-bearing spots on the vines were dense, they were still finite.
Just like the apple tree, there was a limit to how much fruit it could bear. A single tree couldn’t produce ten thousand apples; it would collapse under the weight.
Therefore, unless they expanded the area of the vegetable patch again, or scratched off another sapling that could improve the soil,
otherwise, no matter how fast they grew, the quantity would remain the same—no more, no less.
The vegetable patch required no maintenance whatsoever, and with the addition of the Protective Shield, Stan Sterling returned to the RV without any worries.
Most of the customers had calmed down and resumed scratching their tickets, hoping to win a piece of fruit to liven up their meals.
