Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure

Chapter 112: Xenomorph World 11

After all, three years had passed. It was a miracle the gas station still had fuel. As for the supermarket, everything inside had likely been looted long ago.

Perry Yates walked into the small supermarket and saw a team member crudely smashing open the cash register. He then took all the money from inside and went to start a fire with it.

’Using money to start a fire... how extravagant.’

But in the current situation, aside from Gold, all other currency had long become worthless paper. It really had no other use besides kindling.

Perry Yates wandered through the small supermarket.

The shelves had been cleared out long ago, with nothing left behind. The entire supermarket felt desolate and empty.

After a full sweep yielded nothing, Perry Yates left the small supermarket, a little disappointed.

In novels, the female protagonist would always find a safe or a hidden compartment at a time like this, which was why she had searched so meticulously.

But in the end, she found nothing.

Forget a hidden compartment; she hadn’t even found a scrap of paper.

"I guess I’m really not the main character of a novel."

Back at the gas station, Elara Lynch and the others were eating compressed biscuits. Seeing this, Perry Yates felt it wouldn’t be right to pull out something different, so she took out the compressed biscuits she had prepared and began silently gnawing on them.

However, even though they were all eating compressed biscuits, what Perry Yates had was actually different from the others’.

The others were eating biscuits produced by the base, designed for nothing more than filling the stomach. They were as hard as rocks; you couldn’t bite into one without a good set of teeth.

The biscuits Perry Yates was eating, however, were brought from Cerulea. Although they were also hard, they were packed with quality ingredients and tasted sweet.

She had originally bought them just for show, never expecting a day would come when she’d actually have to eat them.

Perry Yates was already starting to miss the days when she operated alone.

’Forget everything else, at least when I was alone, I could eat whatever I wanted without having to worry so much.’

「The morning of the sixth day of the game.」

They hadn’t been attacked by any Xenomorphs yesterday, so everyone had gotten a good night’s sleep.

"Our destination this time is a high-end club. Its location is secluded, so there should still be plenty of good stuff left."

Elara Lynch drove in the lead vehicle, guiding the way.

About halfway there, they passed a residential complex and came face-to-face with another group of people walking out from inside.

Just then, Elara Lynch slammed on the brakes, stopping the car about a meter away from them.

"Are you blind? Don’t you know how to watch where you’re going? You can’t even see a car this big?"

Elara Lynch stuck her head out the window and cursed.

However, the people she was yelling at showed no reaction whatsoever.

Seeing this, Perry Yates realized something was wrong. "There’s something off about these people," she said to Elara Lynch. "We need to get out of here, fast!"

By now, Elara Lynch had noticed it too. She quickly pulled her head back in and stomped the accelerator to the floor. The car shot forward like an arrow loosed from a bow.

But it was too late.

Elara Lynch had intended to run them over, but one of the people suddenly reached out a hand and stopped the car dead in its tracks, even at full throttle.

Realizing this, Elara Lynch knew they had hostile intentions and that the car was useless. She made the decisive choice to abandon it.

After they got out, they saw a terrifying sight: the chest of the person who had blocked the car was pierced through by a black spike as thick as a wrist.

They hadn’t been able to see it from their angle inside the car, but now...

Before they could even process their shock, a blood-curdling scream erupted right beside them.

Perry Yates whipped her head toward the sound, only to see one of her own teammates impaled through the chest by an identical black spike, a pool of bright red blood spreading on the ground beneath them.

The next second, the team member’s body, as if controlled by some unseen force, was lifted into the air and yanked toward the residential building.

At this, everyone panicked. Although their squad was supposedly experienced, this was the first time they had ever encountered anything like it.

Aside from the pool of blood on the ground, they hadn’t even caught a glimpse of the Xenomorph.

Only Perry Yates looked toward the residential building, guessing that the Xenomorph must be hidden inside.

"You all go on ahead," Perry Yates said to Elara Lynch. "Leave this to me."

"No, I’m staying to help you!" Elara Lynch said with a determined expression, gripping two knives.

"Trust me, they need your protection more. Besides, if you stay, you won’t be helping me—you’ll just be holding me back."

’She didn’t want to be distracted by having to protect Elara Lynch.’

Hearing this, Elara Lynch took a deep breath. She didn’t want to admit it, but she knew Perry Yates was right.

"All right. Make sure you come find us."

Perry Yates nodded.

Once everyone had left, Perry Yates couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. ’The dead weight is finally gone.’

’It wasn’t that she wanted to be a hero, but if everyone died here—especially Elara Lynch—it would be difficult to explain back at the base. So...’

Perry Yates dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding a spike aimed at her heart.

She had considered using her card’s power to envelop the entire complex, but when she thought about the disgusting appearance of the Xenomorphs, she decided against it.

Perry Yates looked at the distant residential building and decided it was time for a little demolition.

A Red Heart Card appeared in her hand, and she threw it.

The higher the number on the card, the greater the explosive power. Among them, the Red Ace was undoubtedly the most powerful of all the Red Heart cards.

As the Red Ace was thrown, a small mushroom cloud slowly rose in the next second, instantly reducing the entire residential block to rubble.

"That should have taken care of..."

Perry Yates hadn’t even finished her thought when a Xenomorph appeared before her amidst the mushroom cloud. It looked like a tree stump magnified a thousand times over, surrounded by innumerable Tentacles.

[Xenophyta Queen: An Alien Queen born from the fusion of a tree and an octopus. Having just left The Hive, it is now preparing to establish a nest of its own.

An Alien Queen that has just left The Hive has not yet mastered the ability to shapeshift. Its attack power is weak, but its defense is extremely strong; it can survive a direct hit from an atomic bomb.

Weakness: Sunlight]

The moment Perry Yates saw the Alien Queen, she was startled. ’What is with my luck?’ she thought.

But after reading the information on this particular Alien Queen, she thought, ’Now, what is with my luck?’

An Alien Queen this large should drop a pretty decent card.

’As for its weakness being sunlight... didn’t that just play right into her hands?’

"Watch me finish you in a matter of minutes!"
