Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure

Chapter 349: Carboniferous Period 21

As the featherless chicken’s body completely shattered, countless fragments drifted down from the sky.

"They’re cards!"

The moment Sage Bishop got a clear look at what the fragments were, she lost her composure and started scrambling to pick up the cards falling from the sky.

Perry Yates didn’t stop her. The commotion from the earlier battle had been significant, and she figured many other players must have noticed the disturbance.

Peering through her plants, Perry Yates confirmed her suspicions—plenty of people were frantically collecting the cards raining from above.

After all, for them, this was like manna from heaven.

Seeing this, Perry Yates also began collecting the falling cards. She was the one who had killed the featherless chicken, after all. There was no way she was going to let others reap all the rewards.

With the help of her barrier and plants, Perry Yates managed to snag the lion’s share in this feast of cards.

"These cards are all either Ice Attribute or Wind Attribute, and they’ve all been infected by Dark Energy," Sage Bishop said with a sigh, looking at the cards she’d collected.

Without a doubt, these cards were just like The Merman King before them—products forcibly created through the fusion of Dark Energy. Most were two-star cards, with a few three-star ones mixed in.

Compared to The Merman King, the power of this card was clearly much weaker.

However, Perry Yates was more interested in the White Card she had obtained earlier than in the featherless chicken.

’A card that appeared at the same time as the featherless chicken... is it really just a White Card?’ Perry Yates didn’t believe it.

To test her theory, Perry Yates immediately took a snapshot of the White Card.

[Card Name: Six-petaled Frost Flower

Attribute: Moon Attribute, Snow attribute

Grade: White

Card Description: A one-time use card. After use, a Six-petaled Frost Flower, shaped like a snowflake, will appear in your hand. Infuse it with energy, then crush the flower, and a vast Snowfield Domain will appear in the surrounding area.]

Hearing those two words, "Snowfield Domain," Perry Yates subconsciously recalled the snowfield she had seen before. ’So that must have been the Snowfield Domain,’ she thought.

Thinking of the Snowfield Domain made her think of the featherless chicken again. ’I wonder what the relationship between these two cards is. Were they helping each other, or was the featherless chicken trapped by it?’

Whether it was the former or the latter, this Six-petaled Frost Flower card was far from simple.

Perry Yates put the card away, planning to go back and perform an Ascension on it.

As for why she didn’t do it now, the simple answer was that she didn’t have enough energy. After all, almost all of her plant cards were currently deployed outside.

Although they could act by absorbing sunlight and Moonlight, it didn’t mean Perry Yates could just be a hands-off manager.

Therefore, Perry Yates truly didn’t have any spare energy to perform an Ascension on a card right now.

After leaving that area and finding a relatively safe spot, the two of them rested for a while.

After a while, Sage Bishop nudged Perry Yates. "My item just picked up a piece of information."

Perry Yates hadn’t forgotten that her payment for protecting Sage Bishop included three pieces of information per day, and she hadn’t used any of them yet today.

"What is it?" Perry Yates asked.

Sage Bishop pondered for a moment before saying, "To the east, five kilometers from our current position, The Armored General will appear at dusk. Executors will show up to capture The Armored General."

"The Armored General? What’s that?"

Hearing this, Sage Bishop shook her head. "I’m not sure about that either. The intel my item provides is always completely accurate, but the details can be vague. However, I’m guessing The Armored General is a card. For Executors to personally come and capture it, its grade must be quite high. It might even be a five-star card."

Speaking of five-star cards, Perry Yates immediately thought of her Wargod Kai. ’The Armored General... Wargod Kai... It can’t be such a coincidence, can it?’

"Right, did you just say Executors will be there too?"

Sage Bishop nodded. "The time is dusk, which is very disadvantageous for us."

After dusk comes night, which is precisely when the Executors are most active.

Perry Yates stroked her chin thoughtfully for a moment, then said, "What about the other two pieces of information?"

At her words, Sage Bishop took out her item and glanced at it. Her expression changed drastically, and she grabbed Perry Yates, pulling her away from their spot.

Not long after they had left, a bolt of purple lightning suddenly shot down from the sky, splitting a towering tree in half.

The lightning ignited the wood, and the fire spread instantly.

"Quick, we have to put out the fire!" Sage Bishop said suddenly. She then pulled a card from her pocket.

After she threw the card, the ground instantly began to freeze. The ice spread relentlessly until it had encased the burning tree, flames and all.

Only then did Sage Bishop explain to Perry Yates, "The remaining two pieces of information were: in twenty seconds, the tree closest to us would be struck by lightning, and the resulting fire would destroy the card you care about most."

"The card *you* care about most?"

"It should be the card *you* care about most," Sage Bishop corrected.

’That makes sense,’ Perry thought. ’Sage Bishop wants to completely replace her own deck, which means her cards aren’t that important to her. If it’s not her, then it must be me.’

Perry Yates thought about the cards of hers that were still out there: Clone, Wargod Kai, Any Door, and Apex Explosion.

Any Door was confirmed to be in the hands of the Executors, Wargod Kai was suspected to be The Armored General from the intel, which left Clone and Apex Explosion.

Though they were her cards, in her heart, she wouldn’t call those two the most important.

Perry Yates shook her head, then started walking east with Sage Bishop. She had decided to check it out after all.

Sage Bishop knew she couldn’t stop her and didn’t say anything. As long as Perry was safe, nothing else mattered. ’Let her do what she wants,’ she figured.

It was still early when the two of them arrived at the destination, so they decided to look around first, hoping they might find some clues.

As it turned out, after a full circle around the area, they hadn’t found any clues, but they had found plenty of bugs.

"Have you noticed a common trait among all these bugs?" Sage Bishop asked.

Perry Yates nodded. "How could I not? They’re all especially ugly."

’They don’t look like products of natural evolution, but more like a fusion of technology.’

"What I mean is, they look like several different types of bugs fused together."

As she spoke, she pointed to a bug nearby that Perry Yates had just dealt with. It had the body of a centipede but two heads—one of a centipede, the other of a Millipede. Its tail was like a scorpion’s, complete with a venomous stinger.

This was clearly not normal.

"Do you think these could be things the Executors placed here in advance to help capture The Armored General?" Perry Yates suddenly asked.

Sage Bishop: "...It’s possible."
