Chapter 14: You Have Twelve Hours

In Genesis, Flame Empress sighed before saying. "Thank goodness he accepted it could have been a huge loss for the human race if he hadn’t."

Red Rose nodded. "Just with the compensation he will receive, he could have quite easily left Eloa and travelled to another continent. I hate to admit it, but it’s our own fault this has happened."

“Thankfully, his agreement shows that he does not hate our race entirely, not to mention the fact that he was smiling and even flirting with Sarah at one point,” Fire Empress replied.

“Do you think we should try and set them up?” Red Rose asked with a giggle.

“It’s definitely worth considering since there was chemistry there, but for the time being I think we should let things proceed naturally,” Fire Empress replied before turning to Tia and asking. Tia, are you ready to announce our punishment?"

"Almost. There are certain things you need to take off first. Also, since John Michaels stated that he did not wish for innocents to be harmed in the punishment, I will change some of the actions I had planned to take. While it will be impossible to avoid harming all innocents, I will focus the human race's punishment on select individuals rather than the race as a whole, though you will still lose Stone-mist Castle."

Fire Empress and Red Rose sighed in relief after hearing this before the Fire Empress said, "Thank you, Tia."

Tia simply looked at her before saying, "Do not thank me; it was John Michaels' choice on how the human race should be punished, and I am just following his wishes, even if he didn’t specifically dictate a punishment for you. If he had not said anything and left everything up to me, the human race would also have lost Dragon-claw Bay for attempting to poison John Michaels."

Upon that realization all two women gulped at the level of punishment Tia was prepared to pass down; losing both of their great ocean raid resources would have damaged the human race in ways they could not even imagine.

"As for the rest of the punishment, you will learn when it once I announce it in Genesis. In the meantime, however, I have a suggestion for each of you, Fire Empress, Leader of the Human Race."

At this, both women gave their full attention to Tia because they knew a suggestion from her was something they should not dismiss lightly.

"First off, I will delay the announcement of the punishment for twelve hours. This will give you time to transport John Michaels to Eclipse City, since the humans of Dawnscape City will not be happy upon hearing my judgment. Also, you have these twelve hours to get trusted people to Dawnscape City so that when judgment is passed, you can have them move to apprehend all involved individuals, also I suggest you carry out a thorough investigation into this incident and into your privy council.

Lastly, I have probably the most important piece of advice for you: treat John Michaels well from now on. If my assumption is correct, he is far more important to Atlantia than any of you realise."

As she finished speaking, Tia disappeared, leaving the two women to wonder what she meant by her last words.

"Sarah, John. Tia has decided to delay the announcement of the human race's punishment for twelve hours. If it’s fine by you, John, I would have you travel to the capital in that time?” Fire Empress asked through Sarah's access band.

"That's fine; it's not like I have anything to pack anyway," John answered.

“Very good,” Fire Empress replied. “Sarah, you are to accompany John to Eclipse City; is that understood?"

“Of course, Empress Aunt,” Sarah replied.

"Good, make sure to bring your access band with you so we can update you with a new one once you arrive. Just try not to let it come into direct contact with your skin anymore than it already has; honestly were lucky that you didn’t access Genesis since you received it.”

“Why?” John asked curiously.

“Use of the MK VI access band causes the poison to spread quicker,” Fire Empress explained. “We will also have you go through a full medical checkup upon arrival to ascertain how much the poison has spread and determine if you require any medication

"Understood," John replied before nervously asking. “Will that be expensive?”

Fire Empress laughed before saying, “No, all costs regarding your treatment will be covered. I will also make sure you are seen by our race's greatest medical expert.”

“Though he might hold that against you after meeting her, mother,” A voice John didn’t reconised playful remarked.

“That was Red Rose, better known as Princess Adria Bristle,” Sarah explained as John gave her a questioning look.

“Hello John, I look forward to meeting you in person.”

“Thank you, Miss Bristle,” John replied.

"Sarah, upon returning to the capital, come see me in the palace. There are things we need to discuss."

"Understood, Empress Aunt," Sarah replied before ending her access band's communication and turning to John. “Is there really nothing for you to pack?

John didn’t reply straight away; he instead went and fetched one of the old towels from his bathroom before wrapping the MK VI access band in it. Only then did he turn to Sarah and say, “Just this.”

Sarah nodded before asking, “Shall we leave now then or…”

“Now's fine,” John replied before Sarah could finish whatever she had been about to say.

"Let's go then,” Sarah said as she stood up and moved towards the door.

John followed her outside and towards the elevator without even bothering to close and lock the door.

{I guess he never plans to return here; can’t say I blame him.} Sarah thought as she shot John a look out of the corner of her eye.

The pair didn’t speak again as they entered the elevator and it descended to the ground floor.

After exiting the apartment building, John’s eyes widened upon seeing the expensive-looking electric car; however, after noticing the assistant standing next to it, John couldn’t help but frown. Sarah noticed this, so as they approached, she addressed her assistant, “You are to remain here in Dawnscape City until instructed otherwise.”

“But…” The assistant tried to protest.

“But nothing, these are orders from the empress,” Sarah interrupted sternly.

“Understood,” The assistant replied while bowing.

Sarah nodded before motioning towards the car while saying to John, “Get in.”

John nodded and climbed into the passenger seat. He waited until Sarah had climbed into the driver's seat before asking, “I take it you know how to drive?”

“Probably better than you,” Sarah teased before she started the electric car.

As they moved away, John noticed that the assistant was glaring at him angrily.

What none of them noticed was that someone had been watching the apartment complex since seeing the assistant waiting outside next to the expensive electric car. Only after the assistant had stalked away while cursing under his breath did the individual show himself.

"I should inform Dean about this." The young man said under his breath before dumping the rat in the basin of water and leaving.

In Empress Alexia's office herself and Adria woke up after logging out of Genesis.

After gathering herself, Alexia turned towards her study door and called, "Maria"

A moment later, Maria entered before asking, "Yes, Majesty?"

“Arrange an apartment in one of the nicest areas of the city, and also Summon General Vimes at once."

Although surprised, Maria bowed before using her access band.

A few minutes later, a knock came from the study door.

"Enter," Alexia, who was now drinking tea along with Adria, commanded before the door opened, and a large man entered. He wore military clothing and had several scars on his face, the most obvious being a large one crossing his left eye.

"Majesty, Highness." General Vimes said with a bow before approaching and standing at attention before Alexia's desk.

"General Vimes, you are to immediately deploy the army to Dawnscape City, but you must do so in absolute secrecy so that no one in the city realises."

Upon hearing the command, General Vimes, Maria and Roberta all wore surprised looks before the general asked, "Majesty, may I ask why? I have heard of nothing needing the military's attention."

"Unfortunately, I cannot tell you the exact reason now; all I can tell you is that you have twelve hours to get your people into position before Tia makes an announcement. You are then to apprehend all persons Tia mentions in her announcement by any and all means necessary."

There was silence for a moment before the General asked rather hesitantly, "Majesty, is Tia about to announce a punishment on Dawnscape City?"

Alexia looked at the man for a moment before sighing and saying, "Not just on Dawnscape City, General."

"Shit." The general cursed as Maria and Roberta showed concern over what Alexia had just hinted at.
