Chapter 305: Wedding, I’ve Prepared a Gift for You
The next day came quickly. When Ivy Sherwood woke up, she found her phone was dead.
She plugged it in to charge, washed up, and put on some makeup. After all, she had Silas Blackwood’s wedding to attend.
Once Ivy was ready, she met up with Nina Scott, and the two of them headed to the church together.
The Blackwood family’s wedding was a grand affair. This very venue had originally been prepared for Ivy.
The person marrying Silas Blackwood wasn’t her, and Ivy Sherwood couldn’t be in a better mood. The weather today felt better than any other day, and even the air seemed fresher.
She and Nina arrived a bit late; many guests were already there.
After all, the Blackwoods were one of the most prominent families in Lustre, so of course, many people would come to offer their congratulations.
The ceremony was being held on the lawn. It wasn’t time yet, so Silas Blackwood was out front with Caleb Blackwood, greeting guests while Anna Nash prepared backstage.
Even though it was supposed to be a joyous occasion, Silas’s face was so sour he looked like someone owed him a billion dollars.
But that didn’t stop Ivy from feeling cheerful. "Come on, let’s go see what’s happening backstage. We know her, after all. We should go congratulate the bride."
Silas spotted Ivy from a distance. His eyes flickered, and he started to move toward her, but Caleb Blackwood stopped him.
"Don’t forget, from now on, your wife is Anna Nash!"
Caleb Blackwood’s words were a warning, and Silas had to force himself not to rush over.
Although Ivy was wearing makeup, Silas could only picture *that* face in his mind.
He regretted it. He truly, deeply regretted it. If time could be turned back, he would have married Ivy without a second thought. He never would have gotten involved with that woman, Anna Nash.
’If only the woman I was marrying today was Ivy.’
Silas’s gaze remained fixed on Ivy, wishing he could drop everything and chase after her. He only snapped out of it when she disappeared from view.
Ivy and Nina reached the backstage area. Anna Nash was having her makeup done.
The bride was in her wedding dress, but the smile on her face wasn’t one of happiness. It was the smile of someone who had finally achieved her goal.
Anna was still admiring herself in the mirror. She had always been beautiful; otherwise, she never would have been able to seduce Silas so completely.
’I look gorgeous today,’ Anna thought. ’This dress is as dreamy as a princess’s gown. Today, I *am* a little princess. I’ve finally realized the dream I’ve had since I was a child: to marry into a wealthy family.’
’I’ve had enough of the poverty I grew up in. My parents always favored my brother. I’ve always known that you have to fight for a good life yourself.’
’This is just the beginning. Now that I’m in the Blackwood family, there’s no way I’m ever leaving!’
Just as Anna was admiring her own beauty, she suddenly saw someone behind her in the mirror. Her heart leaped, and the smile on her face froze.
"Ivy Sherwood! What are you doing here?!"
Hadn’t she made sure not to send Ivy an invitation? ’Although I really wanted her to see me marry Silas, she still has leverage over me.’
"I’m here to congratulate you, of course," Ivy said, her smile brilliant.
Anna could only assume Ivy was here to cause a scene. In reality, however, Ivy’s wishes were incredibly sincere. She truly hoped the two of them would stay together forever and stop tormenting other people.
Anna still hadn’t given the ashes to Ivy because she hadn’t gotten them yet. Ivy was like a ticking time bomb, ready to go off at any moment.
"Ivy, I’d like to have a private word with you." Anna was afraid Ivy would reveal her secret during the wedding today, so she wanted to talk to her alone and placate her first.
"But I have nothing to talk to you about. I just came to see today’s bride. You look beautiful. I’m sure the baby in your belly will be just as beautiful," Ivy added with a faint smile.
Anna’s face paled slightly.
"Oh, by the way, I also prepared a gift for you," Ivy said, her smile growing even more brilliant.
This statement made Anna uneasy. ’A gift from Ivy... It’s definitely something terrible.’
Ivy didn’t say what the gift was and soon left with Nina.
Nina hated Anna and didn’t even bother to pretend otherwise. The look on her face was one of pure disgust.
"How can someone like that even exist in this world, let alone marry into a wealthy family?" Nina just didn’t get it. "Is it true that only the good die young?"
"Marrying into a rich family doesn’t guarantee happiness. If it were you, would you want to live a life like hers?"
Nina imagined being in Anna’s shoes—marrying into a rich family only to be met with sour faces, never being considered a real member of the Blackwoods, and having to scheme and backstab just to survive in that kind of environment. The thought alone was terrifying.
She shook her head. "No thanks. If that’s the life, I’d rather go back to the countryside."
"You’ll definitely find someone you like who likes you back someday. Fate is just a matter of time. When that day comes, I’ll be sure to have a few extra drinks to celebrate!"
"No problem! You can sit at the head table!"
The two of them laughed and chatted for a while. Soon, it was almost time for the wedding to begin.
Ivy pulled Nina over to their seats to watch the ceremony start.
The wedding was a massive event, with many media outlets present. The Blackwoods clearly wanted to publicize the wedding to show everyone that they were treating Anna Nash well.
Anna hadn’t notified her family about the wedding. So the part of the ceremony where a father usually gives his daughter away was replaced by Anna walking down the aisle alone, from one end of the red carpet to Silas’s side.
"Where are the bride’s parents?" someone asked curiously.
"I heard they’re both dead. She has no parents. So pitiful."
"Is that so? Then she must be really something, managing to marry into the Blackwood family all on her own. That woman is no simple character."
"Haven’t you seen the scandals online? The woman forced the marriage by getting pregnant. Just look at the expression on Caleb Blackwood’s son’s face. The Blackwoods were so arrogant before, and now they’ve been outmaneuvered by a woman. It’s hilarious."
The displeasure on Silas’s face was plain to see. He couldn’t even manage a hint of a smile. He was incredibly irritable with everyone, looking like he might explode at any moment.
Anna reached Silas’s side, almost crying with joy. "Silas, I’ve loved you for so long. I’m finally marrying you."
"I’ve been without parents since I was a child, and I’ve always longed for someone to love and protect me. Silas, meeting you was the luckiest thing to ever happen to me. It was fate. Will you love and cherish me and our baby for the rest of our lives?" Anna made sure to mention the baby, placing one hand on her stomach while reaching for Silas’s hand with the other.
The venue fell silent as everyone watched the ceremony. Just then, a voice suddenly shouted from the side, "Anna Nash!"
The security guards over there tried to stop the person coming in, but the intruder pushed past them, shouting, "Don’t stop me! All of you, don’t stop me!"
Hearing that voice, Anna turned her head, her eyes wide with fear as she watched the person approach.
