Kalon spent some time with Josinia on Veylora.

Most of that time was spent in the cathedral, where Kalon introduced Josinia to Nyphara and the other priestesses. She learned the history of the planet and the importance of why they all had their breasts exposed.

By the end she was incredibly fascinated by the way that different species behaved.

It only made her more interested in travelling to more planets.

However, that would have to take place another time. Kalon had already used all of his allowances, and it was time to head back home.

The next day on earth...

Kalon woke up with a buff to his mana that morning. It sat at a healthy S+.

With this, the efficiency of the skills that he used in today bout would use in the days bout would be even greater.

The question was; what way did he want to end the fight?

He had already revealed his Fire, Earth, and Light affinity.

That meant that he still has Ice, Dark, and Water to show.

He ate his breakfast in his tournament bedroom whilst thinking deeply.

If I use Darkness, that will get me the most attention. After all, no one but Atlas has an affinity in both Light and Dark. The media wouos go crazy if I revealed that.

He decided then that that would be his plan.

Due to the passive skill Black Sun Corpus, he had gradually stored light within his body, which was slowly waiting to be released in a wave of pure dark force.

Kalon finished his breakfast and checked the time.

The second round was scheduled for early afternoon. He changed into the tournament gear, collected Thea from the adjoining waiting area, and the two of them made their way down to the competitor tunnel of The Garden Arena once more.

The stands were even fuller than the day before. Word of the opening match had spread overnight. The third affinity, the speed of the finish, and the follower jump had pulled in more spectators and more cameras.

He didn’t even had time to fully take everything in. He decided he would focus on the tournament first before addressing the new fame.

When Kalon and Thea stepped into the open, the noise rose immediately.

The announcer’s voice carried across the field.

"Welcome back to the Year One Duo Tournament. This is the second round. Advancing from the opening match: Kalon Manchester and Thea Bluegale of the Academy of Systems."

A heavy wave of sound answered the names.

"Their opponents, the pair that eliminated Richard Red and Ruby Red yesterday: Marcus Hale and Lena Voss!"

Marcus Hale was a broad earth-affinity user with reinforced arms and a heavy stance. Lena Voss carried a basic body-enhancement skillset focused on speed and short bursts of power.

They had looked organised against the Reds. Today they looked even more prepared, and more focused. They had clearly watched the footage of Kalon’s first fight.

They knew they were going up against a powerhouse, and for that reason, they would be giving it their all.

Once again, Kalon and Thea had spoken beforehand about their tactic.

Kalon had faith in his abilities to handle things alone, but he gave Thea the chance to take one opponent whilst he took the other.

However, he warned her that as soon as he had finished with his opponent, he would be coming for the other if she hadn’t finished it off yet.

She accepted this without question.

The barrier dome sealed. The death-prevention field layered over it. Both pairs took their marks.

"Begin!"

Marcus slammed his palms into the floor. A low wall of hardened earth shot up between the two teams, buying Lena a second to accelerate around the side. She came in fast, aiming for Thea first, trying to remove the support piece early.

Thea met her with a sharp burst of pressurised water that forced Lena to drop back a bit.

At the same time Kalon moved.

He did not open with fire or light. He simply walked forward through the dust kicked up by Marcus’s wall and let the stored force inside his body answer.

Black Sun Corpus activated.

The light he had been absorbing for days inverted in a single pulse. A wave of pure darkness expanded from his skin that ate the edges of whatever it touched. Marcus’s earth wall crumbled where the darkness met it. The material did not break. It simply ceased to exist along the contact line.

Marcus’s eyes widened. He tried to pull more earth up from the floor.

Kalon was already inside his range.

He raised one hand and directed the black force in a tight, controlled surge.

The darkness took Marcus’s right arm from the shoulder down.

There was no blood spray, no torn flesh in the normal sense. The limb was erased cleanly, the cut-off point sealed by the same annihilating edge that had removed it.

Marcus staggered, staring at the empty space where his arm had been. The death-prevention field flared hard around the wound, locking the damage and forcing stabilisation before shock could drop him completely.

The Garden Arena went silent for half a second.

Then the noise returned twice as loud.

Lena Voss skidded to a stop mid-charge, eyes locked on what had just happened to her partner.

Thea held her position, water still coiled around her hands, waiting for the next movement.

Kalon stood in the centre of the field with the residual black haze still fading from his skin, the passive skill already beginning to drink in the arena lights again.

Marcus was still on his feet, but the fight had changed in a single exchange. One arm was gone. The earth affinity that relied on both hands was crippled.

Lena now had to decide whether to abandon the plan and try to finish something alone, or find a way to buy time for her partner to recover.

Kalon rolled his shoulders once and looked at Marcus.

The man would not recover, as his health had already dropped to a point that rendered him incapable to fight.

It was now a two on one.
