Chapter 28 Olena [Part 1]
She finally pulled herself away from the wall, walking slowly towards Aiden’s room, scanning the surroundings as she approached, and just before she arrived at his room, her eyes went towards the open bathroom.
She could see half of the bath, but it wasn’t open enough to see Miraleth lying there naked, and she didn’t think to look; she was far too concerned with the plans she had for Aiden.
During the entire battle today, she protected the Western Church and sent aid to the Frontlines, but it was only after the battle that she heard what happened in the Head Church.
Apparently, all the male priests were dead, except one who was made Head Priest and taken to the palace. She wasn’t happy with what happened to the kingdom, but she couldn’t change the past, so this was her chance to change the future.
Olena was a powerful priestess; her holy affinity was A-Class, placing her among the most talented priestesses in the kingdom.
She had spent years training, studying, and serving the church faithfully. Yet no matter how hard she worked, there was a limit she could never overcome. She was a priestess, and in the eyes of the church, priestesses would always stand beneath priests.
Male priests possessed a natural advantage blessed by the Goddess herself. Even priests who awakened a D-rank affinity would eventually surpass most priestesses as they grew older.
It was unfair, but Olena had accepted that fact long ago; now, she was the acting head of the Western Church.
There were four churches in the entire capital: the Head Church, the Western Church, the Eastern Church, and the Outer Church.
The largest was the Head Church. Located near the center of the capital, it stood between the nobles’ district and the common district, making it accessible to everyone.
It was the heart of the Church, and the place where the Head Priest ruled from. Important decisions regarding the church were made there, and every other church answered to it.
The second largest was the Eastern Church. Situated within the nobles’ district, most of its visitors were wealthy merchants, nobles, and influential figures. It was currently where Aiden was staying.
The third was the Western Church. Located in the far western section of the common district, it primarily served ordinary citizens. While it lacked the status of the Eastern Church, it was still large enough to hold considerable influence within that part of the city.
Lastly, there was the Outer Church. Built close to the outer walls of the city, it was the smallest of the four churches. However, it was one of the busiest. Travelers entering the city often visited it to offer prayers, while soldiers stationed near the walls frequently attended its services.
Before the attack, all four churches operated under the authority of the Head Church, and each had an active priest who oversaw the church’s activity. But now things were different.
The attack had changed everything; all of the male priests were dead except one. The power structure that had existed for decades had been shattered, and Olena understood this better than anyone.
As the acting leader of the Western Church, she suddenly found herself in a position she had dreamed of for years. Olena had no intention of wasting this opportunity. She wanted influence, she wanted authority, and mostly she wanted power.
She wanted to ensure that the Western Church remained under her control permanently. And since Aiden was young and made the Head Priest as he was the only survivor, she knew it would be easy to use his inexperience to get what she wanted.
If she could earn Aiden’s trust, guide his decisions, and secure his support, then her position would become untouchable.
With the backing of the Head Priest, even the Head Priestesses of the Eastern Church and the Outer Church would have difficulty challenging her.
She did not need to become Head Priest herself. That was impossible, but if she could stand beside the Head Priest and become his most trusted advisor, she would possess nearly as much power.
And that was exactly what she intended to achieve; even if it didn’t go her way, she would use other means to manipulate Aiden; there were certainly ways to do things like that.
A faint smile appeared on her face as she reached the door to Aiden’s room and stretched her hands to knock, but before she could, the door was pulled open.
She immediately stepped back as Aiden froze in front of the door, his eyes widened, and his jaw dropped as he stared at the woman in front of him.
"Your Holiness," Olena bowed her head the next moment, snapping Aiden out of his daydream.
Still, he couldn’t believe the sight in front of him; he still hadn’t looked at Olena’s face once. His eyes were glued to a particular spot: the pair of humongous titties in front of him. They were astronomically huge- so huge that Aiden was positive his head might fit between both of them.
"Your Holiness!!" She spoke again, waving a hand at his face, and finally Aiden looked up, his eyes meeting hers.
"Yes, yes... How are you today?" Aiden spoke. He had no idea who she was or why she was here, but still a smile was plastered on his face.
"I’m fine, Your Holiness. It was a really sad day today; still, I came to see if you were doing okay," She replied.
"I’m doing fine, I just...woah" Aiden finally noticed her Aura.
Unlike Miraleth’s, hers was refined, bigger, and brighter; he could tell she was someone important, but still he had no idea who she was, but he was definitely going to find out.
