Chapter 89: Bisected! Dire Straits?
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
On the street, a series of muffled booms, like cannon fire, echoed all around.
At the epicenter of the sound, Fang Can and Dali Wang were trading blows, their faces contorted in grimaces, like two machine guns firing at each other.
But any discerning eye could see that in this battle, Fang Can had the overwhelming advantage.
Dali Wang’s fists flew relentlessly, but aside from clashing with Fang Can’s own, they couldn’t hit any other part of his body. Every attack was nimbly dodged.
Meanwhile, Fang Can’s fists always found a way around his opponent’s defenses to slam into Dali Wang’s body.
’Damn it, damn it, why can’t I land a single punch?’ Dali Wang grew anxious as he threw another punch.
His strength and defense were far superior to this shorty’s, and their speed was comparable, but the guy always managed to evade his attacks in the most unexpected ways.
After just a dozen seconds, the surface of his tough skin was already starting to swell and turn a bruised purple. If this war of attrition continued, he might actually be beaten to death.
’Just one punch. All I need is to land one punch,’ Dali Wang prayed for the first time in his life.
If he could just land a single hit, the ensuing avalanche of attacks would pulverize the young man into a paste!
Unfortunately, in a one-on-one fight between the two of them, that was never going to happen.
Meanwhile, as the two traded fists, their families—spanning nine generations—were suffering terribly in other cities.
"CRASH!" With a tremendous roar, a terrified Fang Tao dragged his wife out of their hotel just as it collapsed.
And in Akia, Dali Wang’s parents screamed in terror. A dangling power line from afar had wrapped around the father’s legs, and a dilapidated courtyard wall began to sway, threatening to crush him.
Parents, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts...
In the clash of the two fighters’ luck, it was as if a real-life version of *Final Destination* was playing out for everyone connected to them.
Right now, their luck was locked in a stalemate, with no clear winner, so their families were in peril but not yet dead.
But once one side’s luck began to gain the upper hand, a massacre-like chain reaction would follow.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Dali Wang had already lost count of how many punches had landed on him. Each blow sent his body plowing a trench in the ground.
Before him, the two furrows carved by his feet already stretched for several hundred meters, almost to the end of the street.
He admitted he was getting scared and wanted to run, but turning his back would expose him to even more damage and only hasten his death.
It seemed Fang Can had been right after all—he was going to be beaten to death with bare fists.
But unfortunately for Fang Can, things were about to take a turn.
A voice echoed in his mind through a psychic link: "Don’t be afraid. Our sniper is ready to make his move. Seize the opportunity!"
As the voice spoke, two kilometers away, a sniper had already set up his enchanted rifle. His gaze wasn’t on Fang Can, but was instead aimed at a spot dozens of meters to Fang Can’s left.
With the perception of an expert like Fang Can, even a direct gaze could be detected. The best way to assassinate him was to not aim at him at all.
And he happened to know a technique for curving bullets—Gun Kata!
Using a brief glimpse of Future Vision, the young sniper observed Fang Can’s potential movements within the next second. After locking onto one of those futures, he fired without a moment’s hesitation.
A bullet made of Carbonadium alloy, which could suppress healing factors, shot out of the enchanted sniper rifle.
This slender bullet needed only 0.5 seconds to cross 2,000 meters in a curving arc and blow Fang Can’s head apart.
Countless enemies had fallen to this very shot.
’Not good!’
Almost instantly, Fang Can felt a dull ache suddenly bloom between his eyebrows.
A powerful intuition made him realize what was happening, followed by the frantic triggering of his ’Pinnacle of Despair’ ability.
He could have dodged the punching-bag-sized fist of Dali Wang before him, but that faint sense of crisis compelled him to take the punch head-on, just to avoid the bullet that might otherwise pierce his brain.
"Muda, muda, muda!" The young sniper who fired the bullet wore a mocking expression.
His Future Vision had already seen all of Fang Can’s possible moves in the next second, so this shot was absolutely unavoidable.
Fang Can would have no choice but to feel his brain be utterly destroyed by the bullet.
’I refuse to believe someone can survive having their heart and brain smashed at the same time!’
His bullet was made from a special alloy from the Marvel universe designed specifically to suppress super-healers. Even Wolverine would be dazed for days after being hit by it.
What’s more, as he announced his attack over the earpiece...
"I’ll help you!"
With a furious roar, the scar-faced white Reincarnator who had been watching the fight from the sidelines leaped out from the crowd.
In his hand, a transparent, invisible blade swung forward—a Space Slash!
Everything happened in less than a second, a moment stretched to infinity.
In the first instant, Fang Can’s body began to retreat.
The next moment, Dali Wang’s fist, more powerful than a hydraulic press, slammed into his chest.
With an inaudible CRACK, his sternum shattering, Fang Can was sent flying backward at several hundred meters per second.
But before he had flown even three meters through the air, a curving bullet embedded itself between his eyes and drilled into his skull.
And from behind, the scar-faced man’s Space Slash sliced across Fang Can’s waist, cutting his body in two.
...
BOOM!!!
With a deafening roar, the two halves of Fang Can’s body skipped across the ground like a stone on water, plowing a trench over a hundred meters long before crashing to a stop.
"We did it!!!"
As if popping a bottle of champagne, the Reincarnators cheered wildly at the sight of the young man who had been sliced in two.
"Hahahaha, I told you I’d win! You dog, you thought you were worthy of fighting me?!" Dali Wang roared with laughter, conveniently forgetting how he had previously refused the other Reincarnators’ help.
Back in the villa, Jiang Ning’an instinctively started to fly out, but Liu Qingmeng stopped her with an outstretched arm. "Just keep watching."
"Looks like the winner has been decided," Ji Donglai said with regret from Akia. "I’ll go find a healing-type esper to treat him now."
"Hard to say," the boy chewing on a lollipop said with a smile.
"Oh? It seems your intuition doesn’t match my analysis."
Ji Donglai paused, then sat back down, turning his attention back to the television.
He was very curious to see how Fang Can could turn this around.
Back at the scene, one of the Reincarnators laughed and started to move in to finish the job, but was immediately stopped by a companion.
"Don’t go! The bullet didn’t hit his brain at all! He’s still alive!" the Reincarnator with the White Eye said, his face extremely grim.
