Chapter 80: Carnival Day, The Games Begin
"I need a lot of women to help me cultivate," Fang Can said seriously, turning his head.
His words left Jiang Ning’an frozen on the spot.
She never imagined Fang Can’s first words after reaching the Profound Gate Ninth Layer would be *this*.
"You..." The girl’s mind went blank. She stammered, completely at a loss for words, and only after a long moment did she finally manage to speak:
"Indulging in such debauchery will only cause your physical body to degrade and your spirit to corrupt. Isn’t that...?"
"Don’t worry, Elder Jiang. I’ve already discussed this with Elder Liu," Fang Can said with a smile. "She approved of my choice."
’What? Master agreed too?’
Jiang Ning’an was filled with shock. She never thought her own master would agree to him fooling around with women.
"Don’t tell me you’ve switched to cultivating the path of Yin-Yang Harmony? Are you preparing to... to harvest the essence of three thousand women and then ascend the Heaven-Ascending Road?" Jiang Ning’an asked.
"That’s not it," Fang Can said, a bit embarrassed. "It’s just that to refine my corpus cavernosum and implant its ’concept’ into every cell of my body, I need to personally experience the sensations of expansion, contraction, and release."
"Elder Liu was the one who taught me this method." Fang Can rubbed the back of his head awkwardly. "The only way to speed up the implantation of the ’concept’ is to personally experience its corresponding functions."
"After I discussed it with her, she agreed with my line of thinking."
"Can’t you do it without... *that*?" Jiang Ning’an asked through gritted teeth, her gaze dropping to Fang Can’s crotch.
"What use is that thing? It just gets in the way of cultivation, disturbs your peace, and wastes time. I might as well just lop it off with my sword."
As she spoke, Jiang Ning’an was surprised by the source of her own emotions. Her face turned cold as she lightly gripped the hilt of her sword, ready to help the young man sever his worldly attachments.
But after making a couple of threatening gestures, she saw the subtle shift in Fang Can’s expression and couldn’t bring herself to do it. With a cold snort, she stormed downstairs.
Fang Can silently watched the girl go downstairs before sitting back down, a hint of resignation in his eyes.
He was a severe germaphobe and wasn’t very comfortable around most women, but for the sake of his cultivation, he had no choice but to make a personal sacrifice.
’Sigh... cultivation. Sigh... my corpus cavernosum!’
Fang Can shook his head in resignation. ’Throwing orgies isn’t my idea of fun, either. This is such a pain.’
With these thoughts in mind, Fang Can bathed in the brilliant light of the sun and once again entered a state of cultivation, as focused as a machine.
In preparation for the great battle to come, his next step was the "kidney-ization" of his body.
...
「Two days passed in the blink of an eye.」
As Carnival Day drew nearer, the atmosphere in the city grew increasingly tense. No one knew what form the event would take or what kind of enemies they would be facing.
Those in Z City who usually talked a big game online about wanting to see rivers of blood were now getting a taste of their own medicine, their hearts filled with fear and despair for the future.
Under the leadership of the Reincarnators, all of Z City’s citizens were now hiding in an orderly fashion.
The clock ticked forward. At 11:00 AM sharp, only a single hour remained until Carnival Day.
Just then, the city’s internet connection, previously cut off from the outside world, was restored. A massive swarm of drones began to fill the sky.
Since this was a nationwide spectacle, it was only natural for the whole country to be involved. The broadcast began an hour early as a warm-up.
As the sealed-off city reconnected to the outside world, massive numbers of viewers flooded into various livestream channels, watching the city from the drones’ bird’s-eye perspective.
"I wanna see rivers of blood!"
"FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!"
"Let blades rise from the earth, and let there be no peace among men!"
"You fucking bloodthirsty psychos! My wife is still in there! Can’t you say anything decent?"
"Ooh, to the guy above, hope your wife is still... *usable*... by this time tomorrow."
"FUCK..."
"I’m Nanny Dragon! I’m the real Nanny Dragon!"
"FUCK! GO! IGNORE!"
...
With the livestreams now open, all manner of ghouls and goblins came out to play, and a flood of comments and bullet-screen messages inundated the screen.
Since the internet was back on, even the citizens of Z City could see the comments on the livestreams.
From within what they thought were their secret, safe shelters, they watched the comments scroll by on their phones, and a sense of anger and humiliation welled up inside them.
From the drones’ bird’s-eye view, the entirety of Z City was eerily silent.
Everyone had split up to hide, preparing to wait out this terrifying day.
Unsurprisingly, most of the citizens had, by unspoken agreement, chosen hiding spots near Fang Can’s villa.
Some high-ranking officials and wealthy individuals, including Mayor Li, had politely requested to take shelter in the villa, but Fang Can refused them all. They had to settle for the next best thing: a villa nearby.
As they swept over the unnervingly silent city, the drones in the sky suddenly focused on a small, three-story building.
On the rooftop, a young man stood with his right hand on the railing, surveying the city.
As the only living person visible in all of Z City, he was quickly swarmed by a dozen or so drones, all filming him from above.
Now that they finally had a live subject, the viewers in the livestream chat began to comment on every aspect of Fang Can.
"Is this guy insane? Daring to just wander around out in the open."
"Soooo hot! I hope the thugs that show up don’t go easy on him. I wanna see a live porno!"
"Those clothes are from DDV. Wearing a brand name like that, but he has zero class. Just a poor kid trying to show off."
"Anyone doxxing this rich boy? I wanna know more."
"Done. He’s from Z City’s Midtown High School, name’s Fang Can. His grades are pretty good, top ten in his school. Family won ten million in the lottery and went on a trip around the country, left him behind in Z City."
"Holy shit! The doxxing was fast!"
...
Fang Can, of course, ignored all the chatter online, but the citizens of Z City could now also access the internet.
Seeing the comments, some of them immediately started posting messages of their own: "Stop spouting nonsense! That’s a noble superhuman you’re talking about!"
But with no proof to back up their claims, who would believe them? A flood of doubtful replies quickly drowned out the supportive comments.
Fang Can paid them no mind, simply standing on the rooftop and quietly waiting for Carnival Day to officially begin.
As the final minutes ticked away, the clock struck 12:00. Fang Can slowly opened his eyes. He could already hear a disturbance in the distance.
"RUMBLE... RUMBLE... RUMBLE..."
With his enhanced hearing, Fang Can could hear the thunderous roar of a vast number of airplanes approaching from a distance.
Lifting his gaze to the horizon, he saw them: tens... then hundreds... then over a thousand modified passenger jets, all heading for Z City.
"Wow, what a spectacle," Fang Can murmured, narrowing his eyes as he watched the fleet of planes dive toward the city.
Never before had a Carnival Day started with such a grand entrance.
Aboard one of the planes, Zhang San, wearing a parachute, braced himself against the cold, howling wind of the upper atmosphere. The roar of a military officer echoed in his ears:
"You only get one shot at this jump! This plane isn’t circling back for you. Miss your window and you’ll be executed! Those of you who have picked your landing zones, jump!"
