BATTLE FOR STARS

Chapter 66: An Indifferent Response

The man who had been shouting finally sat back down.

He looked to be only around thirty years old, though Ding Yufei knew that probably wasn’t his real age.

The man had pale skin and delicate features, almost refined-looking at first glance, but his expression carried an unmistakably domineering arrogance.

His long hair draped over his shoulders, and everyone around him seemed to revolve around him naturally.

It was obvious he was the center of the group.

Pretty boy.

Ding Yufei silently gave him that nickname.

“Why haven’t you licked it clean yet?!”

The pretty boy suddenly stood up again angrily, staring at the small amount of food still left on the floor.

Through the projection, Ding Yufei could clearly see that the three female intimate partners had already licked nearly everything clean.

Even the spilled soup scattered across the floor had been cleaned up.

But several shell-like objects still remained behind.

Just by looking at them, it was obvious they were extremely hard.

Sure enough, the three attendants reluctantly picked one up each with their mouths and slowly began chewing.

Their expressions immediately twisted in pain.

No matter how hard they chewed, the shell-like pieces simply wouldn’t break apart enough to swallow.

The pretty boy strode over to one of the attendants, grabbed her by the hair, and punched her directly in the face.

The shell in her mouth flew out instantly, scattering across the floor.

The girl herself was sent flying backward before collapsing heavily onto the ground.

One glance was enough to tell he hadn’t held back at all.

The punch knocked her unconscious on the spot.

“Playing dead?!”

The pretty boy walked over and viciously kicked her in the stomach.

But the girl really had blacked out.

Aside from her body twitching slightly from the impact, there was no reaction at all.

Ding Yufei glanced toward Belina.

She was only frowning, making no move whatsoever.

Apparently this wasn’t something easy to interfere with.

The pretty boy then walked over to another attendant still kneeling on the ground.

The terrified girl immediately began kowtowing frantically.

But he ignored her completely.

He grabbed her by the hair and yanked her upright, then forced one hand against her jaw.

With a sharp push, her mouth was forced open.

“There’s still this much left? Slacking off, huh?!”

As he spoke, he seized her by the collar and dragged her toward the edge of the suite.

Before anyone could react, he suddenly threw her over the side.

Splash!

The female intimate partner fell directly into the lake below.

Fortunately, the floating suite wasn’t very high above the water—only about ten meters.

The pretty boy immediately turned and grabbed the last attendant still lying on the floor.

Dragging her toward the edge, he ignored her desperate pleas completely.

The girl begged continuously while waving her hands helplessly, but she didn’t dare touch him even once.

Without the slightest hesitation, he reached the edge and threw her down as well.

Throughout the entire process, the girl did nothing except beg for mercy.

Splash!

Another loud impact echoed across the lake.

The second attendant hit the water too.

Although the drop wasn’t fatal, it quickly became obvious that neither of them knew how to swim.

Before long, both women were flailing desperately in the water.

And this suite was already very far from shore.

The lake was deep enough that anyone unable to swim had no chance of making it back alive.

Other than Ding Yufei, everyone present understood the situation clearly.

In the Resk Empire, swimming wasn’t part of a slave’s education.

With technology this advanced, there was no need to physically swim to experience underwater activities anymore.

Only a tiny number of wealthy guests still chose to learn it for entertainment.

Of course, if a master specifically wanted to train their slaves, they could still learn.

But clearly, the attendants at this restaurant never had.

“What’s going on?”

Ding Yufei’s brows tightened deeply.

Two attendants being thrown into the water was shocking enough.

But what truly stunned him was that nobody in the Special Class suite moved to help.

Even worse, no rescue robots appeared.

On a planet this technologically advanced—

Inside a Gold-Class restaurant—

Two women were struggling in the water while absolutely nobody did anything.

It felt unbelievable.

Ding Yufei turned and looked around.

Lina’s face showed obvious anxiety.

Mor looked anxious too, but even more than that, he looked afraid.

Little Chubby had finally realized the seriousness of what was happening.

Yet all he could do was shrink silently into his chair, staring at the projection.

He had even forgotten to chew the piece of meat still in his mouth.

The attendants standing nearby also remained motionless.

None of them dared even breathe loudly.

Though Ding Yufei could see the unease hidden in their expressions, not a single person made any move to help.

“You’re not going to do something?” Ding Yufei asked the attendants around them.

“Master… has already issued instructions forbidding us from interfering.”

The lead attendant saluted respectfully before answering.

“Huh?!”

Ding Yufei stared in disbelief.

So the restaurant owner had already given orders beforehand.

And from the looks of it, those orders essentially meant standing there and watching the two attendants drown.

Not long ago, Ding Yufei had been told that slaves couldn’t be executed freely.

Then what exactly was this?

“Wasn’t it said masters can’t decide whether slaves live or die? Then what does this count as?” Ding Yufei asked blankly.

After remaining silent for a long while, Belina finally spoke.

“This is probably what you'd call exploiting a loophole in the rules.”

“What do you mean?”

“No one killed those slaves,” Belina said heavily. “They simply fell into the water and drowned on their own.”

There was one more thing she didn’t say aloud:

For certain privileged classes, rules like these barely meant anything in the first place.

Hearing her explanation, Ding Yufei fell completely silent.

Throwing someone into deep water and then claiming they “drowned by themselves”—

The fate of slaves here suddenly didn’t seem much better than the slave systems that had once existed on Earth thousands of years ago.

Belina let out a long sigh, as though finally making up her mind.

“Where’s the control system for your rescue robots?” she asked the lead attendant.

“Huh?”

The attendant looked startled, but quickly recovered.

He absolutely didn’t dare ignore a VIP guest’s question.

“The control terminal over there can operate the rescue robots,” he replied respectfully, pointing toward a corner of the suite.

Perhaps he also wanted to save the two attendants.

But with direct orders from his master, he personally couldn’t act.

Now that a guest had asked, however, he was willing to provide the information.

“Although,” he added carefully, “you don’t have the authorization to issue commands to the rescue robots.”
