Chapter 103: Surprise, Darling [2]
"Surprise, darling."
Seraphina’s words surprised the students as they were shocked.
’Darling.’
They thought about these words. Her tone of saying it was romantic, and it seemed like she was calling her lover.
They all followed her gaze and saw the person. It was Lucien, the new student.
All eyes were on him, making Lucien weep internally. His peaceful academic life had been instantly destroyed.
Everywhere erupted into murmurs and disbelief.
"Are they together?"
"Damn, she’s taken. Her expression says it all. My poor fate after having a crush."
"You? Pfft. Don’t make me laugh. You and I both know you have no chance. But honestly, I’m jealous of this Lucien guy. He’s got the looks, now a beautiful fiancée."
"I’m fucking so jealous."
"Well, maybe there’s still a chance. Maybe."
"There’s still the silver-haired one. I wonder what her name is?"
The guys were discussing, with most of their hearts instantly broken in that instant.
As for the ladies, they realized that the prince charming they wanted to confess to had been taken.
"My prince charming. He’s been taken."
One girl sighed dramatically. "I was already planning our future together."
Her friend patted her back. "You’ll get over it. Probably."
"Probably? That’s not comforting."
Another girl nodded, her eyes still on Lucien. "I can’t believe he’s already taken. And by someone who looks like her? What chance did we even have?"
The girl beside her shrugged. "Maybe we were just dreaming too big."
Before the murmurs could settle, Lilith spoke.
"How do you like our surprise?"
Her voice was soft, almost playful. But her words carried a weight that silenced the room.
Heads turned. Everyone looked at Lilith, then back at Lucien, then back at the three women around him.
The boys stared, their hopes crumbling even further.
"Wait... did she say ’our surprise’?"
"So she’s with him too?"
"Two of them? Two?"
"Are they both his?"
The guy near the back slumped in his seat. "I give up. I’m never getting a girl."
His friend nodded, also defeated. "We’re just background characters in this guy’s story."
The girls exchanged glances, their curiosity now mixed with envy.
"He has two of them?"
"What kind of man attracts two goddesses?"
"I think I need to rethink my life choices."
He just stared at the front of the room, feeling the weight of more than fifty gazes and the two Yanderes gaze on him.
’I just wanted peace. Was that too much to ask?’
Lucien covered his face, he didn’t know what to do as he didn’t expect this.
The students who saw him covering his face thought he was blushing and began murmuring again.
"Look at him. He’s shy."
"That’s actually kind of cute."
"He’s lucky and he knows it."
One girl tilted her head. "Maybe he’s not as confident as he looks."
Another girl nodded. "It’s nice to see a guy get flustered."
The guys weren’t as forgiving.
"Shy? He should be celebrating. Two women like that?"
"I would be flexing, not hiding."
"Maybe he’s not as lucky as we think. Maybe he’s trapped."
The boy who had slumped earlier lifted his head. "Trapped? With two goddesses? I’d love to be trapped."
Ryker, who had been quiet, leaned toward Lucien. "You okay there, mentor?"
Lucien didn’t answer. He just kept his face covered.
Ryker patted his shoulder. "I’m here for you, man."
Lucien finally spoke, his voice muffled. "I don’t want your pity."
"It’s not pity. It’s solidarity."
"Same thing."
Ryker grinned. "Just trying to help."
Even though it was a short time, he had an understanding of what happened between Seraphina and Lilith, especially their fight that destroyed the desolate land. With their strength, they weren’t supposed to attend the academy or the class, which meant they were here for Lucien. And he understood the pain.
Sylas was watching all of this and noticed Lucien’s reaction. The students might think he was shy, but Sylas knew it was more than that. He had witnessed Seraphina’s obsessive actions and the extent she fought with Lilith, who was the same as her.
He felt pity for Lucien. Even he hadn’t expected them.
"Okay, silence everyone," Sylas said, and the entire class went quiet, even though some were still discussing in whispers.
Seeing the noise had been handled a bit, he turned to Seraphina and Lilith. "Can you kindly introduce yourselves?"
The guys’ ears immediately perked up at this.
Seraphina nodded and stepped forward. "My name is Seraphina Veyrion."
Lilith and Lucien were shocked. Lucien removed his hands from his face. Where was Seraphina taking this to?
Lilith’s lips slowly curled up into a smirk.
"My name is Lilith Veyrion."
Hearing their names, the students were confused.
"Veyrion? Are we wrong?"
"Maybe we are. They could be brother and sister."
A girl near the front tilted her head. "Wait, Veyrion? Isn’t that the new guy’s surname?"
Her friend nodded. "Yeah, Lucien Veyrion. So they’re related?"
The guys who had been heartbroken suddenly perked up.
"Brother and sister? So she’s not his lover?"
"Maybe we still have a chance!"
"Wait, but then why did she call him ’darling’?"
The confusion spread through the room like wildfire.
One of the students couldn’t take it any longer and proceeded to ask.
"Please, we’re confused. Are you guys brother and sisters?"
As the guy asked this question, everyone turned to them, waiting for an answer.
Lucien didn’t even bother to listen. He knew their answer. There was no way they were going to deny it.
"No, we aren’t brother and sisters. He’s my husband, my one and only darling," Seraphina said in a bashful manner, yet her gaze couldn’t hide the possessiveness and obsession in them.
The room went silent. The students were processing her words.
Husband? The new student was married? To her?
Before anyone could respond, Lilith stepped forward, her voice cutting through the silence.
"He’s not yours only. He’s my husband too."
The room stayed silent. The students were still processing. The words hung in the air like a second bomb waiting to explode.
Seraphina turned to Lilith, her golden eyes narrowing. "Excuse me? He’s mine. I said it first."
Lilith’s smile didn’t waver. "You said it first. But you’re not the only one who loves him. I was there before you. I loved him before you."
Seraphina’s voice was sharp. "That was then. This is now."
Lilith’s tone was calm but firm. "Time doesn’t matter. He’s my darling too."
The students watched in stunned silence. The two women who had seemed like goddesses moments ago were now arguing over the new student like he was the last piece of treasure in the world.
As for Lucien, He just stared ahead, his face blank.
