Chapter 202 - 200: Faster Than a Rabbit
The subordinate looked at Hades’s expression and asked cautiously, "So, should we keep following them?"
Hades’s face was grim. "Yes, keep following! Report anything you find to me immediately."
"Yes, sir!"
After the subordinate who was tailing Sang Mo’s group left, the others saw Hades’s foul expression and didn’t dare to breathe too loudly, afraid they might get on his bad side.
Only Tina was completely oblivious. Hearing that Sang Mo actually had the leisure to go shopping with a female, she couldn’t help but complain, "If I’d known he wasn’t coming, I would have gone shopping. Hades, why don’t we go shopping, too? Since he’s not coming here, we can just go find him. We’ll just take care of him directly, and then you won’t have to be so tense."
Hades was already irritable and anxious, a fire of rage burning in his heart. That Tina was still thinking about shopping at a time like this made him snap, and he roared, "What do you know? You don’t know anything!"
Startled by his angry shout, Tina stared at him blankly for two seconds before her eyes instantly reddened.
Seeing this, Diller frowned slightly and glanced at Hades. As a fellow male Beastman, he could roughly understand how Hades was feeling.
But as Tina’s uncle, seeing her get yelled at like that still made him a little uncomfortable.
Fortunately, Hades regretted it as soon as he’d finished shouting. In a hoarse voice, he said, "Sorry."
Although Tina could be a bit willful, she knew Hades had yelled at her because he was in a bad mood, so tense that his entire being was stretched taut.
Tina puffed out her cheeks and pouted. "Fine, I forgive you. But you can’t yell at me again, or I’ll get really mad."
Hades didn’t have the spare energy to comfort her. He just gave a perfunctory reply and went into his room.
The truth was, back then, they had been the ones who insisted on following Sang Mo. A few years ago, Sang Mo wasn’t even twenty. He was young and incredibly powerful. Although he looked at everyone as if they were already dead, with him around, no one else dared to cause trouble.
Their group had actually consisted of five or six people, all of whom were being hunted down. The pursuers had mistakenly attacked Sang Mo, and just like that, Sang Mo had dealt with them.
At the time, the few of them were stunned and simply started following him.
They were the very first group to follow Sang Mo. Although he constantly threatened to drive them away, as long as they didn’t get too close, Sang Mo wouldn’t say anything.
Over time, they realized that Sang Mo was always alone.
Having followed him for a long time, they discovered that he would disappear for one day every month. At first, they would search for him, but eventually, they grew used to it.
This continued until one day, one of Sang Mo’s enemies—or someone like that—came to kill him the day before his disappearance. Sang Mo was already feeling unwell, and he struggled to handle the attacker.
So he, along with Brutus and Eluke, went to help. Perhaps because of this incident, Sang Mo began to show them a bit more warmth.
To be honest, "warmth" just meant he no longer tried to drive them away as he had before. His face, however, remained devoid of any smile.
Consequently, their group grew larger and larger, developing slowly until they finally established the Black Domain.
Sang Mo had no interest in being tied down by such things, so he only agreed to lend his name to it but refused to manage any affairs. His only condition was that no one could do evil in his name.
Although Sang Mo didn’t manage things, he had his principles, so some matters still required his decision.
His hands-off approach, paradoxically, allowed the Black Domain to slowly develop into a place that many people yearned to join.
The Beastmen who first followed Sang Mo also gained some power. Later, they gradually grew dissatisfied with that small amount of authority. They proposed several suggestions to Sang Mo, but all were rejected.
Little by little, resentment began to fester.
Coupled with Sang Mo’s growing reputation and the increasing number of people flocking to the Black Domain, they made another proposal. After it was rejected again, they became disloyal. ’If only Sang Mo was gone.’
Later, their wish indeed came true. After Sang Mo "died," they seized all the power in the Black Domain and gradually lost their way. Once-close friends became strangers due to power, starting to plot against each other and becoming bitter rivals.
Now, of those original people, some were dead and others had fled, leaving only him, Hades, behind.
In stark contrast to Hades’s heart-pounding anxiety, Sang Mo and his group were on a massive shopping spree on the commercial street. The six of them—five handsome, dashing Beastmen and a female as beautiful as a celestial fairy—were a stunning combination. Add to that their lavish spending, dropping millions in a row, and they instantly became the center of everyone’s attention.
"Who are they? Since when did we have such good-looking Beastmen and a female like that in the Black Domain? I had no idea."
Another Beastman stared unblinkingly at Bai Zhi. "Never seen them before, but that female is gorgeous. She already has five Beast Husbands, but I wonder if I might have a chance if I try hard enough..."
However, he had barely finished speaking when he was met with the gaze of one of the female’s Beast Husbands.
Yue Junxiao immediately acted like a puppy guarding its food. Although he didn’t snarl at the Beastman, the undisguised pressure of his spiritual power instantly made the faces of countless surrounding Beastmen change.
It wasn’t just Yue Junxiao. Yan Yichen also entered stare-down mode. The two of them, one on her left and one on her right, unleashed an unconcealed pressure that made all the Beastmen who had entertained thoughts of offering themselves feel ashamed of their inadequacy.
The Beastmen who had previously felt pretty good about their looks and spiritual power levels were now dealt a heavy blow.
’I can’t believe Bai Zhi’s two youngest-looking Beast Husbands are this strong. Doesn’t that mean the other three are even more powerful...’
Bai Zhi also heard their discussions; after all, they weren’t exactly whispering. So, while she noticed her husbands’ little actions, she didn’t stop them.
She had no intention of taking any more Beast Husbands. Five was more than enough. Any more would be unimaginable.
Hu Yan and the others didn’t stop Yue Junxiao and Yan Yichen either. In fact, you could say they were deliberately indulging their behavior.
Just then, someone recognized Sang Mo. Combined with the events of that morning, the news of Sang Mo’s return had already spread throughout the entire Black Domain. Therefore, seeing Sang Mo and his group now, they were certain it was him without a shred of doubt.
The spiritual power pressure from Yue Junxiao and the others just now was the best proof.
In an instant, everyone who recognized Sang Mo performed the highest ceremonial greeting of the Black Domain and shouted, "Lord Sang Mo."
The surrounding people were stunned when they heard this title. Sang Mo?
The Sang Mo who killed Brutus this morning?!
The Beastman who was once revered by many as the King of Black Domain?
In truth, those who came to the Black Domain later had their doubts about Sang Mo. But in recent years, under the oppression of Brutus and his cohorts, countless residents of the Black Domain had become victims of their power grabs.
Therefore, upon recognizing Sang Mo, almost everyone made the same gesture in an instant, shouting, "Lord Sang Mo."
The six of them were surrounded on the commercial street. Unlike the curious gazes from before, the current atmosphere was filled more with fear and anticipation.
Many had heard of Sang Mo’s deeds, but only the old residents of the Black Domain had truly witnessed them. They had seen the Black Domain in its prime, so while they feared Sang Mo, they also hoped the Black Domain could return to its former glory.
Bai Zhi was startled by their sudden, loud shouts. As she stepped back, she bumped into Sang Mo, who was a small step beside her. She turned her head, tilted it up slightly, and her eyes met Sang Mo’s, who had lowered his gaze to look at her.
It was only then that Bai Zhi realized how truly black Sang Mo’s eyes were—an unfathomably deep black.
She then noticed that she was almost completely nestled in Sang Mo’s arms. His hands were holding her arms, practically securing her in his embrace.
Sang Mo’s body wasn’t as warm as Hu Yan’s or the others’. Even though the temperature in the Black Domain was around twenty-some degrees, Sang Mo’s body temperature was low, even giving off a hint of coolness.
The people around them had clearly taken in this scene as well.
If they had previously thought the handsome man and beautiful woman were a good match, now, knowing Sang Mo’s identity, they couldn’t help but gasp in shock.
They all then felt that this female must have an extraordinary background to make Sang Mo willing to be one of her many Beast Husbands.
Even more terrified, however, were the Beastmen who had just been fantasizing about Bai Zhi. Those who had only thought about it in their hearts were fine, but the few who had spoken their thoughts aloud were now pale with fright, their bodies trembling. Their legs shook uncontrollably, as if they didn’t belong to them.
They were now filled with regret, terrified that Sang Mo had heard what they said and would make them suffer a fate worse than death, just as he had done to Brutus.
After Bai Zhi averted her gaze, Sang Mo lifted his eyes and looked towards the crowd that had just startled her.
He did nothing and said nothing, but just being swept by that single glance made everyone feel the hairs on their bodies stand on end. Goosebumps erupted all over their skin, and a chill ran down their spines, as if they had been targeted by a predator.
Instantly, everyone started making excuses to leave.
In just a few dozen seconds, the crowd scattered in a flash, and the area was suddenly left with only a few scattered people.
Bai Zhi stared at the commercial street before her. Just moments ago, it had been packed with people, but now it was empty, with a few feathers drifting in the air. "..."
’Just how scared of Sang Mo are they?’ she thought. ’They run faster than rabbits.’
She completely forgot that the first time she saw Sang Mo, she too had been so scared her legs went weak and she couldn’t move.
Just then, Yue Junxiao exclaimed in surprise, "Wow, they run really fast! Almost as fast as me."
Hearing this, Hu Yan couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
This drew the attention of the others. Hu Yan, looking perfectly composed, asked, "Should we keep shopping?"
Bai Zhi glanced at the time—a little over forty minutes left—but she still had two million left to spend. She frowned and said, "Let’s shop a little longer."
There wasn’t a single person on the commercial street who didn’t know what had just happened. As a result, every shop they entered afterward, they were personally greeted by the owner with the highest etiquette. They were even given a "bone-breaking" discount, with freebies thrown in with their purchases.
This resulted in her getting even more for her remaining two million than she had for the first part of her shopping. If she still had her old storage space, it probably wouldn’t have been able to hold everything she bought today.
Because what she bought today alone was enough to stock a very large store.
After they finished shopping, they returned to the hotel.
What they didn’t expect, however, was that when night fell, a dark figure appeared outside their door and knocked.
