Two days later. The Dalmatian coast, Croatia, 9 PM.

The sun had already dipped below the jagged limestone peaks hours ago, casting long shadows across the bay.

The sky was turning from deep blue to black, stars beginning to pierce through.

I’d spent the entire day at the conference center, only managing a brief phone call with Aria during lunch break.

The drive from the venue back to the hotel wound through twenty minutes of mountain roads, and I didn’t want to wait that long.

Six hours behind me she was somewhere between lunch and her afternoon calls—the only gap in her day I could actually reach into.

So I found a quiet spot by the overlook, leaning against the stone railing, and video called her to check in.

We’d originally planned three video calls a day, but over the past few days, our calls and messages had become constant.

I reached for my phone whenever I had a spare moment, needing to hear her voice, see her face.

Now Rick knew—the second I reached for my phone, it meant I wanted to talk to Aria.

Pathetic, really. I used to go weeks without thinking about anything other than territorial negotiations and Pack security. Now I couldn’t go three hours without hearing her voice.

When she answered, I didn’t bother hiding the smile on my face. Rare for me. But she had that effect.

"Damian." Her voice was soft, warm. The kind of warmth that made my wolf settle instantly. "You sound happy."

"I am."I said, watching her eyes—those brilliant green eyes that had become my anchor.

"The business here was nearly finished. After tomorrow morning’s ribbon-cutting ceremony, I’d be done and could start heading home."

Her face lit up on the screen. God, she was beautiful. "Tell me what time you’re landing. I want to pick you up."

"The timing’s not set yet," I said, though everything in me wanted to say *yes, be there, I need to see you the second I land*.
