Ascension Of The Blood Supreme

Chapter 100. Five Steps Ahead

"That will be all" Habakuk said "Dismissed"

"Yes sir" The high ranking Syndicate members stood up and left.

Aiden’s crimson eyes returned to their normal black color.

He was currently in thought as he lay down on his bed.

"Since I don’t plan on joining any syndicate, he will try to eliminate me after I become a beginner rank 2 warrior. It’s just as I theorised. Perhaps I should leave the western district to one of the other districts for a while? No. That won’t be a good idea. The other crime Lords will act the same way. My only option is to leave the city and head towards the forests outside the city or the mountain range to grow stronger there. But, Habakuk’s subordinates will be keeping an eye on me from now on. I can’t take any risks. They can kill me even as a legendary rank 1 warrior and report to him that I became a beginner rank 2 warrior and that, when they asked me to join the syndicate, I declined.

For all I know, they are probably thinking along those lines. There’s no way they will follow his orders and even attempt to recruit me. They will think that if I were to join the Organisation, it would only be a matter of time before I became Habakuk’s favorite. Because of this, they will eliminate me when I leave the city. There’s no way Habakuk will find out they didn’t recruit me but just killed me outrightly even when I’m not yet a rank 2 warrior, since they will eliminate me out of the city. What do I do...wait..."

Aiden’s eyes turned crimson.

He scanned the western district again.

"I think I ignored something I came across since I was very focused on locating the Habakuk syndicate HQ" Aiden thought.

"If it’s what I came across, that may be the most efficient solution to my situation" Aiden thought.

Very soon, he smiled.

"It’s a gate. It appeared in a deserted alley. So, no one has seen it yet. The only problem is I can’t know it’s rank since I don’t have a gate classification device. But I don’t have any other option. I have to do my best to survive and close this gate. By the time I return, I should be a legendary rank 2 warrior. Everyone in the city will be blood essence for me when I return" Aiden thought.

Aiden dressed up in a long coat, jeans and sneakers, left his villa and headed towards the alley.

During this period, he was still scanning across the place. He saw four people following him from a distance.

"Its just as I suspected. Four people are following me. Expert rank 2 warriors. Those guys were in the meeting with Habakuk.

They think I’m leaving the city so they want to follow me outside the city and kill me" Aiden thought.

He didn’t give it away that he had seen them.

He walked calmly.

The group following him was puzzled.

Was he not leaving the city?

All this guy had been doing was passing through streets and alleys.

Maybe he was going somewhere in the city to sort out his personal business?

"We can’t get rid of him in the city. The boss has his ways of finding out about these things" one of the four, a woman with green hair, said.

"Indeed. The boss ordered us to ask The Red Death to join us when the fellow becomes a beginner rank 2 warrior. We can just kill him outside the city and report false news to the boss that the guy became a rank 2 warrior after he left the city, we asked him to join us, he refused and we killed him. The boss won’t suspect we are lying to him" A tall fat middle aged man added.

"But doing so in the city is too risky. The boss will know we are lying to him. He has eyes and ears across the place," another lady said.

"Yeah. I suppose we can only observe him for now" A lanky looking man said.

Everyone nodded as they followed Aiden from a distance.

Aiden heard everything they said.

This confirmed his initial thoughts.

"Good thing I didn’t leave the city. I wouldn’t have even realized how I would have died"

Soon, he reached the alley where the gate had formed.

Quickly, he hastened his steps.

Blobs of his blood appeared before him and turned into crimson wings on his back.

Aiden flapped his wings and bolted off into the gate.

He disappeared.

"Shit... he entered the gate!"

"Could it be that he discovered us?"

"That’s impossible. He would have had to be at the meeting to know the orders of the boss. Not only that, he would have had to know our thoughts to know we wanted to kill him. Also, it’s impossible for him to have known someone was following him from this distance. Even legendary rank 2 warriors with extremely enhanced senses cannot see that far"

"Yeah you are right!"

"I suppose he just identified a gate and decided to clear it alone?"

"That’s the most likely reason. But is this guy crazy?. Only our syndicate and the three other major Syndicates have gate classification devices. He didn’t even know the rank of the gate yet he entered it?"

"Well, I suppose he is overconfident. He will most likely die in the pocket world. I don’t think we will even have to dirty our hands to get rid of him"

"Let’s just report to the boss that we came across a gate when we were strolling around"

"Yeah. It needs to be classified and closed so that creatures don’t come out of the pocket world and cause trouble for us"

"Let’s go"

The group turned around and returned to the Habakuk Syndicate HQ.

A few moments later, the four of them returned to the alley with a gate classification device handed over to them by Habakuk.

They used it to identify the rank of the gate.

Soon, they got their result.

It was a rank 2 gate.

"This guy is screwed!"

"Yeah, he will die in there for sure"

"But...we need to report the gate’s rank to the boss"

One of them made a call and started talking to Habakuk.

"Alright boss" He said soon, as he hung up the phone.

"The boss said we should round up some low ranking members of the syndicate and head inside to close it before creatures and environmental phenomena start to spill out of it" The one who spoke with Habakuk earlier said.

"But...can’t the other six high ranking members join us?" Someone replied.

"The boss said they are making some rounds in the mountain range for him" The one who spoke with Habakuk earlier replied.

"Oh okay. Let’s gather a large number of low ranking members then. We can use them as cannon fodder in case of any emergencies in the pocket world while we focus on closing the gate" Someone said.

The group of four nodded in agreement and left the area to assemble their team to enter the pocket world.
