Ascension Of The Blood Supreme

Chapter 52. Closing the gate

The accumulated blood essence within Aiden reached its limit and resonated. He felt his strength had exceeded that of an intermediate rank 1 warrior.

His gaze was sharper, and when he clenched his fists, he felt his strength was leagues beyond what it previously was.

"My strength should now be at the level of an advanced rank 1 warrior," Aiden thought.

He turned to the rest of the group, who looked at him in shock, still surprised by the tactical feat he had pulled off.

Aiden snapped them out of their stupor.

"We should deal with the pond and close the gate," Aiden said politely.

This made them more puzzled. It was as if what he had just done was nothing to him.

He had used tactical acumen to slaughter legendary rank 1 chaotic beasts.

When they left the pocket world, news of this would not just rock Derulo City. It would turn even the surrounding cities upside down.

But Aiden was acting so normal. It was as if what he had just pulled off had nothing to do with him.

Everyone sighed at the same time.

They shook their heads.

"What you’ve pulled off is something that needs to be known," Desmonda said.

"Even if you refuse these corpses, we will still carry them with us and present them as proof to the Warrior’s Association and the university. There’s no negotiating this, Aiden. As for the corpses, we will sell them and send the money to your account. Even if you don’t need it, it’s what we want to do," she added.

Everyone nodded.

They agreed with Desmonda.

They all had their greed. But that did not mean they would let it cloud their reason. Compared to these corpses, Aiden was more worth befriending.

"In other words, I’m more worth befriending than the money you’ll get for selling these corpses, right?" Aiden asked plainly with a smile.

"You see through us completely," Luke sighed.

Aiden was not offended. These guys were very mature. Also, they had similar principles to him.

They were pragmatic and viewed things from a logical point of view. Each one of them was unique in their own right with special quirks. But at their core, they fit the criteria of people he would consider befriending.

"Alright, have it your way. I’ll be waiting for the money after you sell these corpses then, Desmonda," Aiden added with a polite smile.

Everyone beamed with a smile. Aiden had accepted their goodwill.

They could now be officially considered his acquaintances.

Desmonda put the 501 corpses into her storage bag.

After that, the group left the place and returned to the pond.

"You guys should absorb the worldly energy of the pond," Aiden said.

"Won’t you absorb it too?" Seraphina asked.

"I broke through," Aiden said.

Everyone was speechless.

"You are now an advanced rank 1 warrior?"

Asmodeus’ eyes were almost popping out of their sockets.

"This..." Candice simply kept quiet and just sat in the large pond.

What sort of cultivation speed was this?

The group realized that if they kept thinking about Aiden’s uniqueness, they would stay here forever.

They also realized it made sense that Aiden did not want to make use of the pool. If he had broken into the level of an advanced rank 1 warrior recently, then he had to stabilize his rank.

Trying to rush another breakthrough could weaken his foundation.

Naturally, Aiden did not know what they were thinking, nor did he have any intention of letting even those in his circle ever know about how he cultivated.

Aiden prioritized his survival and autonomy above everything else.

Not even the woman he’d eventually fall in love with or even marry in the future would come to know of this secret. It was not because he was insecure or distrustful. It was simply a matter of self-preservation. If someone in his circle knew about the fact that he cultivated by absorbing the blood essence of the dead, and the person was even trustworthy and didn’t even have any intention of letting this truth slip out, and someone who deemed him an enemy wanted to pry through the mind of someone he trusted, using mind control methods, to know more about Aiden, whatever conversation Aiden would have had with that loved one would be discovered by the enemy, and that could accidentally lead to the discovery of his cultivation method.

This would lead to unwanted and unnecessary trouble.

He’d rather avoid that.

Anyway, Aiden’s five teammates sat in the pond and started absorbing the worldly energy in the pond.

As they absorbed the worldly energy in the lake, Aiden noticed the tree the lake was under was slowing down it’s production of fruits.

A few days went by in a flash.

Suddenly, Aiden noticed something was starting to appear. Eventually, Aiden realized it was the gate.

It was starting to shrink into the vicinity.

"The energy density is returning to normal because of their absorption of the worldly energy in the pond, and the death of the sharks. So, the gate is closing," Aiden thought.

"The gate is closing," Aiden said.

The moment he spoke, everyone’s eyes snapped open.

Desmonda and Asmodeus had become intermediate rank 1 warriors.

Luke, Candice, and Seraphina were almost on the verge of becoming advanced rank 1 warriors.

They clicked their tongues.

They were so close to a breakthrough.

But they had to leave the pocket world.

Else, if the shrinking gate closed, they’d be stuck here forever. They could always try to break through when they returned to campus.

Everyone stood up.

"It looks like our work here is done," Candice said.

"Almost had a breakthrough. This is not fair," Seraphina sighed.

"Asmodeus, babysit your girlfriend," Luke said.

Asmodeus shot a glare at Luke.

But he had a crimson shade on his cheek.

"Pity phones don’t work in pocket worlds. Asmodeus blushing. It’s not everyday we get to see something like this. Right, babe?" Seraphina said.

"I thought we wanted to talk about that lat—"

Before Asmodeus could even finish talking, Seraphina shut him up.

"Screw that nonsense. We like each other. What’s there to talk about. From now on, we are dating."

She grabbed Asmodeus’ hand and gave him a sensual glare that left everyone shocked.

"These guys are really weird," Aiden shook his head.

"They are weird, right?" Desmonda said.

"Kind of," Aiden smiled.

"Clearly, you are starting to enjoy everyone’s company," she replied.

"I am," Aiden didn’t hide it.

"Can we spar when we get back?" she said.

"I will let you know when I’m free," Aiden nodded.

"Alright," Desmonda replied.

"Hey, I wanted to spar with Aiden first!" Asmodeus shouted, a hand around Seraphina’s waist.

"For a slowpoke, you are really bold. You guys just became a couple and you are holding her waist, what happens when we get back?" Desmonda replied.

Everyone looked at her in shock. Was she not supposed to be the quiet one, apart from Aiden?

"What?" she said.

"Nothing," everyone replied.

"Whatever," she replied.

"These guys are crazy," Aiden chuckled inwardly.

Aiden was in the lead. The group entered the shrinking gate, and disappeared through it.
