Chapter 44: Three Hearts Entwined
The first light of dawn filtered through the windows of the master bedroom, painting the room in soft shades of gold and rose. Ronan lay in the center of the large bed, his athletic frame relaxed yet powerful. On his right, Brigid nestled against him, her rounded pregnant belly pressing warmly against his side. Her chestnut hair spilled across his chest, and her fuller breasts rose and fell with peaceful breaths. On his left, Anara of Whisperfen slept curled close, her teal-blue hair fanned across the pillow and one of her massive breasts resting softly against his arm.
Ronan woke first, a satisfied smile on his lips as he held both women. The night of shared passion had deepened their bond in ways he had only begun to imagine. He felt complete. Powerful. The three of them together felt right. His hand rested gently on Brigid’s belly, feeling the subtle movement of their child, while his other arm held Anara closer, his fingers tracing slow patterns along her smooth back.
Brigid stirred next, her sapphire blue eyes opening with immediate love and devotion. She kissed his chest softly, her lips warm against his skin, before glancing at Anara with a complex but accepting expression. There was still a flicker of jealousy in her gaze, but it had softened into something warmer. Curiosity. Affection. She reached out and gently brushed a strand of teal hair from Anara’s face.
Anara woke moments later, her piercing blue eyes fluttering open. She looked up at them both with a shy yet content smile. “Good morning, Master… and Lady Brigid,” she whispered. “Last night… it still feels like a dream.”
Ronan kissed the top of Anara’s head, then turned to kiss Brigid deeply on the lips. “It was real,” he murmured against Brigid’s mouth. “And it was beautiful. You both were. I have never felt more complete than I do with you two in my arms.”
Brigid smiled, her hand sliding down to rest on Anara’s hip. “I felt it too,” she admitted, her voice soft. “The jealousy is still there. But so is the excitement. Watching you with her… feeling her body against mine… it was intense. I want more of it. I want us to be together like this. A family.”
Anara’s cheeks flushed with shy pleasure. She nuzzled closer to Ronan’s chest, her massive breasts pressing warmly against him. “I was afraid I would feel like an intruder. But you both made me feel wanted. Cherished. I have never belonged anywhere before. But here… with both of you… I think I could belong.”
Ronan held them tighter, his strong arms encircling both women. “You do belong here. Both of you. Brigid is my wife. My queen. The mother of my children. And you, Anara, are my second. My beautiful, talented, powerful woman. Together, we are stronger. Safer. Ready for whatever comes.”
The three of them lay together for a long while, simply enjoying the warmth and closeness. Brigid kissed Anara’s shoulder gently, a tentative but genuine gesture of acceptance. Anara responded by turning and kissing Brigid softly on the lips. The kiss was sweet and exploratory, full of new tenderness. Ronan watched them with dark satisfaction, his hands stroking both women’s backs.
“This is how it should be,” he said quietly. “No jealousy that cannot be turned into love. No secrets between us. Only trust. Only pleasure. Only power.”
Brigid smiled against Anara’s lips before pulling back to kiss Ronan again. “I am ready for this life with both of you. Our child will grow up surrounded by love and strength. And Anara… I look forward to knowing you better. To sharing him with you. To sharing everything.”
Anara’s eyes shimmered with happy tears. “Thank you. Both of you. I accept this. I accept you. I am yours.”

Downstairs, the Stone Hearth Tavern was already stirring with morning activity. The common room filled with the comforting sounds of clinking tankards, the sizzle of bacon in the kitchen, and the low murmur of early patrons exchanging stories over breakfast. Sunlight streamed through the windows, warming the polished tables and highlighting the new expansions that had transformed the tavern into a true destination along the King’s Road.
Ronan, Brigid, and Anara descended the staircase together. Brigid moved with graceful confidence despite her pregnancy, her emerald gown flowing elegantly around her rounded belly and fuller figure. She directed the serving girls Mira and Seline with gentle authority, her voice warm but firm. “Make sure the merchants at table five have fresh bread. And check on the new guests upstairs. They paid for privacy, so let us give it to them.”
Mira and Seline, in their provocative uniforms, moved efficiently between tables, their laughter and flirtatious charm drawing smiles and generous tips. Anara, still adjusting to her new role, helped serve breakfast while wearing a more modest but still alluring outfit. A fitted black dress with a laced bodice that accentuated her massive breasts without being overly revealing, paired with a shorter skirt that showed off her legs. She carried plates with graceful poise, her teal hair tied back loosely, silver charms tinkling softly as she moved.
The new mercenaries — now completely loyal through hypnosis — stood guard at key points. One watched the front entrance with quiet vigilance, his scarred face impassive. Another patrolled the back, ensuring no one slipped in unnoticed. The third kept an eye on the second-floor hallway, ready to protect the private rooms. Their presence was discreet but unmistakable, adding a layer of security to the thriving tavern without alarming the regular guests.
Ronan moved among the patrons with his usual charm, securing new trade deals and ensuring everything ran smoothly. He stopped at a table of merchants, shaking hands and discussing supply contracts. “The new rooms upstairs are perfect for private meetings,” he said with a disarming smile. “Your goods will be safe here, and your conversations even safer. Let us make a deal that benefits us all.”
The merchants nodded enthusiastically, clearly impressed by the improvements. Business was excellent. The expanded second floor was already attracting wealthier guests who appreciated the privacy and luxury. Several had booked rooms for extended stays, praising the comfortable beds, the excellent service, and the captivating performances.
Brigid approached Ronan during a quiet moment, slipping her arm through his. “Everything is running perfectly,” she said, her voice full of pride. “The new girls are handling the crowd well, and Anara’s presence is drawing even more people. Our child will grow up in a strong home.”
Anara joined them shortly after, carrying a tray of fresh bread. She smiled shyly at both of them. “It feels strange but wonderful to be part of this. Serving alongside you both. I never imagined I would find a place like this.”
Ronan pulled her closer for a brief, discreet kiss on the cheek. “You belong here. Your performances, your presence, your magic. All of it strengthens us. The villagers already love you. And the guests cannot stop talking about the beautiful singer with the voice of silk.”

Outside, one of the converted mercenaries stood watch near the entrance. When a suspicious traveller lingered too long near the back, the man stepped forward with calm authority.
“Move along,” he said firmly. “This tavern is under Master Ronan’s protection. No trouble here.”
The traveller quickly departed, muttering under his breath but not daring to argue. Similar scenes played out throughout the day. The mercenaries, once enemies, now served as loyal shields for the Stone Hearth Tavern, deterring threats and ensuring peace. They moved with quiet efficiency, their presence subtle but unmistakable. One guarded the front entrance, another patrolled the rear yard, and the third kept watch over the second-floor hallway. Guests noticed the added security but felt safer for it, many commenting on the tavern’s growing reputation for both comfort and protection.
Ronan watched from the balcony above, Brigid and Anara standing on either side of him. The tavern was busier than ever. The second floor was nearly complete, with luxurious private rooms already drawing wealthier guests who appreciated the privacy and fine furnishings. Laughter and conversation filled the common room below, the sound of clinking tankards and cheerful voices rising on the breeze. Mira and Seline moved gracefully among the tables in their provocative uniforms, their flirtatious charm encouraging generous spending. Anara’s performances the previous nights had only added to the tavern’s allure.
Brigid leaned against Ronan’s side, her hand resting on her rounded belly. “They are effective,” she said softly, watching one of the mercenaries turn away another shady-looking traveler with a single firm word. “Whatever you did worked perfectly. They serve you without question. It feels good to know we are protected.”
Anara nodded, her teal hair catching the sunlight as she stood close on Ronan’s other side. Her hand rested lightly on his arm. “I never thought I would feel safe like this. For years I have looked over my shoulder. Now… with them watching and you both beside me, I can breathe.”
Ronan wrapped an arm around each woman, pulling them closer. “This is how it should be. The three of us together. The tavern thriving. Our family growing. These men are now part of that protection. They will guard what is ours. And we will continue to build something greater.”
