Chapter 360: Offering the Seat
The entire Martial Artist Convention was a sea of people, bustling with excitement.
Sects and families from far and wide had long since taken their respective places.
The master of each sect was, of course, seated in the main seat, with their disciples sitting behind them.
Qin Tuo noticed the arena was quite imposing. In the most prominent position directly opposite it sat the contingent from Medicine King Valley, and the Medicine King Valley Master, Sun Liyi, had arrived early as well.
Seeing Qin Tuo arrive, Sun Liyi shot a few extra glances in his direction but made no other move.
Just then, Ding Gaoyi took the initiative to greet Qin Tuo.
"Mr. Qin, why don’t you take the main seat?"
Qin Tuo hadn’t expected Ding Gaoyi to ask him to take the main seat in front of everyone.
But he understood it was because of the incident the other day; it had clearly left Ding Gaoyi with a guilty conscience.
Qin Tuo shook his head and said:
"No, thank you. Sect Leader Ding, you should take the seat."
’Ding Gaoyi is the Sect Leader of the Martial Extreme Sect, after all,’ Qin Tuo thought. ’I’m just a spectator. It wouldn’t be right to upstage the host.’
However, Ding Gaoyi insisted, pulling Qin Tuo toward the main seat.
Qin Tuo felt rather helpless and could only accept the kind gesture.
Huang Junchang chimed in with a laugh.
"Mr. Qin, it’s only right that you sit in the main seat. There’s no need to be modest."
At that moment, however, a bald man in the adjacent sect’s area couldn’t help but let out a derisive sneer.
"Heh! To think the dignified Sect Leader of the Martial Extreme Sect would give his own seat to some snot-nosed brat. This is enough to make the whole world die of laughter!"
Hearing the taunt, the members of the Martial Extreme Sect immediately shot furious glares in his direction.
When they saw who it was, many of them seethed, their teeth itching with hatred.
Qin Tuo could immediately tell that the bald man obviously had a grudge against the Martial Extreme Sect, his tone dripping with animosity.
Huang Junchang immediately bellowed back in anger.
"Zhao Kai, stop with your snide remarks! It’s not your place—or anyone from the Thunder Shock Sect—to butt into the Martial Extreme Sect’s business!"
But Zhao Kai simply continued his taunts, his voice dripping with contempt.
"Your Martial Extreme Sect is nothing but a bunch of trash. What are you even doing at the Martial Artist Convention? You should just pack your things and scram."
Hearing this, the faces of the Martial Extreme Sect members flushed red with rage, and they desperately wished they could storm the stage and fight Zhao Kai to the finish.
Zhao Kai, however, just stood with his hands on his hips, looking utterly fearless.
The sect brothers beside him all postured in support.
Many people in the distance, seeing a conflict erupt, began to gather around, eager to watch the drama unfold.
Qin Tuo, however, remained in the main seat, utterly motionless.
’To him, this squabble was like children playing house.’ It failed to arouse even a sliver of his interest.
The Martial Extreme Sect’s Leader, Ding Gaoyi, was also furious, his old face turning livid. But he clearly felt it was beneath him to engage with Zhao Kai, so he remained silent.
After all, as an Alliance Leader, getting into a verbal spat with someone like Zhao Kai would be beneath his station.
And if he were to make a move, it would be seen as a senior bullying a junior, earning him the scorn of others. So, he chose to ignore it entirely.
But because of the disturbance, many more people now noticed that Ding Gaoyi had given the main seat to Qin Tuo.
Everyone couldn’t help but stare intently at Qin Tuo, wondering just who this young man was to make the Sect Leader of the Martial Extreme Sect so willingly give up his seat.
Finally, the time had come. Amidst the crowd’s eager anticipation, the Medicine King Valley Master, Sun Liyi, slowly ascended the arena stage.
He infused his voice with a trace of Inner Strength and announced loudly:
"This session of the Martial Artist Convention officially begins today!"
Everyone broke into spontaneous applause, and the entire venue erupted with excitement.
Sun Liyi was very pleased with the scale of this year’s Martial Artist Convention. He nodded and continued.
"The grand prize for this convention is a five-hundred-year-old ginseng, treasured by our very own Medicine King Valley!"
The moment he finished speaking, everyone was stunned. A five-hundred-year-old ginseng was obviously a treasure of immense value.
Most importantly, this ginseng came from Medicine King Valley!
Everyone knew that medicinal ingredients from Medicine King Valley were of the highest quality, and this was a famed five-hundred-year-old herb on top of that.
In an instant, the eyes of countless people lit up with greed!
Even Qin Tuo’s interest was piqued; he wanted to get his hands on that ginseng.
’A five-hundred-year-old ginseng from Medicine King Valley,’ he thought, ’might be even better than a common thousand-year-old miracle herb from the outside.’
Seeing the shocked expressions on everyone’s faces, Sun Liyi felt immensely proud.
His expression suddenly turned serious as he announced loudly:
"I declare... the convention officially open!"
Sun Liyi descended from the arena, and with that, the convention truly began.
From that point on, anyone could enter the arena and challenge all comers. The last person standing would be the ultimate victor of the Martial Artist Convention and would win the precious five-hundred-year-old ginseng.
While everyone else was still observing from the sidelines, Zhao Kai was the first to leap onto the arena stage.
Seeing Zhao Kai take the stage, the members of the Martial Extreme Sect all felt a sense of unease.
But to their surprise, Zhao Kai pointed directly at the Martial Extreme Sect’s area and sneered.
"Members of the Martial Extreme Sect, if any of you have the guts, come up here and face me!"
Zhao Kai’s public challenge to the entire Martial Extreme Sect in front of everyone at the convention left many people utterly shocked.
Everyone began to wonder where Zhao Kai got such immense confidence, daring to single-handedly challenge an entire sect.
Seeing Zhao Kai’s arrogance, the members of the Martial Extreme Sect were absolutely livid.
Huang Junchang, who had been bottling up his anger, was especially incensed. He quickly stood up, ready to go and accept the challenge.
But at the critical moment, Qin Tuo reached out and pressed him back down.
"Mr. Qin, why are you stopping me?"
Huang Junchang asked resentfully, clearly unwilling to let it go.
Qin Tuo shook his head at him and said earnestly:
"This Zhao Kai is stronger than you. It’s better to let him fight a few other opponents first and exhaust some of his energy. Then you can go up. Otherwise, you have absolutely no chance of winning."
With his keen perception, Qin Tuo could tell at a glance that Zhao Kai was stronger than Huang Junchang. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be posturing with such a hardline attitude.
Hearing Qin Tuo’s explanation, Huang Junchang could only nod and reluctantly stand down.
The other Martial Extreme Sect disciples nearby looked at each other, none of them daring to accept the challenge either.
Seeing that no one from the Martial Extreme Sect was coming up, Zhao Kai burst into arrogant laughter.
"Hahaha, is the great Martial Extreme Sect nothing but a bunch of cowards? This is hilarious!"
The members of the Martial Extreme Sect were red-faced and trembling with suppressed rage, but there was nothing they could do.
