Overgeared: Sage of Convergence

Chapter 282

Red crossed his arms. The dual-rapier duelist snorted.

"A breathing technique?" Red asked loudly. A grin spread across his face. "Are we preparing to kill the demon Michael Jackson who murdered our family in the snow? Do we get a sword that changes colour when killing the demons"

Current and Spark looked down at the table, trying to hide their smiles.

Piaro frowned. The farmer looked at Mumud.

"Who is Michael Jackson?" Piaro asked seriously. "Is he a Great Demon?"

"I have not read of this demon," Mumud said. The silver-haired mage stroked his chin. "But if he utilizes ice magic, we should prepare fire resistance gear."

Rudra waved a hand. "It's a joke. Ignore him. Any of you have any suggestions"

Galahad stepped forward, puffing out his chest. "What of a battle cry? Thou drawest the air as deep into thy lungs as may be, then throweth forth a mighty shout to flex the core of thy muscle! It pumpeth the blood and raiseth the morale!"

"A mason cannot yell at a stone block for twelve hours," Winfred said, not looking up from the map on the table. "The entire city will lose their voices by noon. No shouting."

Ash raised his hand eagerly. "What if we tie the breath to a specific footwork pattern? Inhale on a left pivot, exhale on a forward thrust! It keeps the body moving."

"They're shoveling dirt, Ash, not dueling," Rudra sighed. "If a baker tries to do sword-dance footwork while carrying flour, he's going to break his neck. Too complex."

Spark tapped her chin. "Can we infuse the breath with a basic element? Like inhaling a tiny spark of fire mana to keep the body's internal core warm?"

Mumud stared at the young mage. "A trained knight might survive that. An ordinary civilian would instantly incinerate their own lungs from the inside."

Spark winced. "Right. No fire."

Viper stepped up to the table, shaking his head. "You guys are overcomplicating it. Just tie it to a basic physical rhythm. Like chopping wood or breaking rocks."

The tailor gestured with his hands. "Swing, hit, breathe. Inhale when you lift the tool. Exhale when it strikes the stone. It creates a steady, repetitive cycle that even a child can follow without thinking."

"That works," Rudra said.

He looked at Piaro. "What are the physical boundaries?"

"The spine must remain perfectly straight," Piaro instructed. "If they bend their backs while exhaling the gathered energy, the pressure will pool in their lower lumbar. It will permanently paralyze them."

"And the magic?" Rudra asked Mumud.

"Keep the mana superficial," Mumud explained. "Do not let it enter the bone marrow like your technique does. It must flood the outer muscle tissue and vent completely on the exhale."

Rudra nodded.

He had all the pieces.

"Knowledge Creation," Rudra muttered, following which a prompt popped up.

[What type of knowledge do you want to create?]

"Technique."

[Have you decided?]

"Yes."

[Please define the characteristics of the Technique.]

[Please define the Foundation.]

Rudra thought about the workers in the courtyard and the exhaustion weighing them down. He needed something sustainable, built entirely around repetitive physical labor and steady endurance.

"Base it on a repetitive physical rhythm," Rudra answered, recalling Viper's suggestion. "A closed-loop breathing pattern where you inhale on the lift and exhale on the strike, just like working a gathering node or a hammer."

[Please define the Targeting.]

"It’s entirely self-targeted," Rudra said. "It needs to affect the user's internal circulation, boosting their physical vitality and mental focus without requiring any external projection."

[Please define the Physical Limitations.]

"It has strict posture boundaries," he instructed, keeping Piaro's warning in mind. "The spine must remain perfectly straight. If the user bends their back while exhaling, the gathered pressure will pool in their lower lumbar and paralyze them."

[Please define the Mana Flow.]

"Keep the mana superficial," Rudra specified, nodding to Mumud's advice. "Do not let it enter the bone marrow. It must flood the outer muscle tissue and vent completely on the exhale to avoid tearing internal vessels."

[Please define the Resource Consumed.]

"Zero resource cost," Rudra said. "It shouldn't drain mana or stamina to maintain. The only resource it requires is the user's concentration and strict adherence to the breathing rhythm."

[Please define the Special Effects.]

"Due to the continuous stabilization of the breath, it should increase Health, Mana, and Stamina regeneration by 100%," Rudra finished. "And by maintaining extreme concentration, it should shave 50% off active skill cooldowns."

[Have you decided? When you complete the Technique, the number of available creations from the creation skill will decrease by one.]

He hit confirm.

[Please name the technique.]

"Genesis Breath," Rudra said.

[The skill [Genesis Breath] has been created!]
